Located on 70th Street just west of Broadway, Café Luxembourg entertains New Yorkers and celebrities alike. The full service bar is home to many regulars. The lively buzz of the dining room is inviting and intimate. The frequency of dining customers is testament to the sincere efforts by the entire Café Luxembourg staff.
The menu changes seasonally as well as offering daily specials. The classic menu dishes maintain a level of cooking on par with the city’s best restaurants. Café Luxembourg offers beautifully prepared food with professional, yet unpretentious service at reasonable prices.
Always outstanding for breakfast. Baked egg dish is one of my all-time favorites anywhere.
Great as always! Wonderful food, great service and nice ambience. Always consistently delicious with excellent service!
My wife asked to have something changed on the order she had and she was told she could not do that. We have been there many times and this was the first time I questioned the service.
Always perfect breakfast. Best breakfast potatoes in the city
Wonderful service, amazing food, and a great atmosphere. We will be back!
It's no wonder they have been around so many years. The service is always warm, welcoming and efficient, the food is prepared simply but always delicious and classic bistro cuisine. It's not a huge restaurant but it's cozy and cheerful. I had the tuna burger and it was cooked to perfection. My conscience said to go with the side salad but I went with the french fries because they are soooo good. Their decaf cappuccino is also quite good. The staff is mindful of your time frame if you have to make a performance so it's the perfect choice for Lincoln Center. Go!
Lovely experience. It was a late lunch and I needed water and bread before my companions came. They say me early and brought me what you needed to feel better with smiles.
only criticism. go back to old profiteroles. this pastry too sweet.
New York at its best.
My dinner at Cafe Luxembourg was absolutely perfect!!! I arrived a bit early and was seated
right away in the packed room. The food was delicious and the service and receptionwas even better.
I love the room, it's comfy and couzy and very Parisian. If I lived a little closer I would go
there more often, but after the wonderful time that I had there Tuesday night I shall return as soon
as I can!
Always our favorite! Outstanding service, delicious food, vibrant atmosphere and impeccable ambiance. Our round table for 8 was intimate and absolutely perfect for a gathering of friends.
Always good. Always to crowded. That's the price for paying for "always good".
It was a wonderful evening, made even more enjoyable by both the hostess and the waitstaff.
Food was delicious, presentation very appealing.
This was a special birthday celebration - we all left
in a celebratory and festive mood!!
Returned to Cafe Lux after ages.
Still the same after all these years. Same Chic bistro ambiance, same sassy naked ladies image, which I’d forgotten. We were early for our dinner so ate from the Brasserie menu. Except for Moules Frites, it had everything we wanted to eat: steak frites, ahi tuna burger. Both were delish, with yummy fries. Since we were so early, and the restaurant nearly empty, we still don’t know why we were shoved into a corner by a wait stand. People have reservations for those other tables, we were told. Yes, but so did we! Anyway, by the time we left, other roomier tables still empty. I haven’t downgraded my review for this...
Brioche bun on lobster roll, dry and tasted stale. Burger was much better, nice and juicy! Wayyy over priced and certainly not deserving of its entry in the 25 places in world with flying in for! Good but not great!
I love Cafe Luxembourg. My husband and I were there for brunch on a Sunday. The place was busy, busy, which is what I want to see. To me, that means that they are doing things right.
Upon being seated, the first thing I noted, was the efficiency of the wait staff, and the attendants. Choice of water, coffee/tea. Everything delivered promptly, while you had time to browse the menu. Our waitress couldn't have been nicer. And here's what's intriguing about this restaurant. Every table was full. People continued to arrive, but we never felt rushed. Our orders arrived. I had the eggs Benedict, which was delicious, eggs poached perfectly. My husband had an omelet, which he said was excellent. We had refills on our coffee, got the check, and sat for awhile just taking in the energetic vibe of this NYC institution. We will certainly be back.
Love this place!!!
Great food and service as always!
This is such a lovely restaurant with excellent food and service.
It was very nice. Been going for years. My tuna burger was average. The service was very nice.
weekend brunch is very busy at this location. I get the hectic atmosphere, but it does not excuse the so so food. the tuna burger, ordered medium rare, was served almost well done and tasteless. the potatoes over fried. they can do better.
The morning brunch was excellent. The food choices were fabulous. The service was courteous, attentive and professional. My water glass never was dry. They paid attention to the details. All staff were friendly and willing to deliver excellent service.
Great service, good food and accept reservations until 11PM!
wonderful crowd, great staff, beautiful presentation, food very good; if we lived in NYC, would be a frequent neighborhood place to go, but fir visits to New York or business trips, would probably be less frequent... not expensive for value and taste. On everyone’s list for a place to recommit
Excellent service, superb food served in a stylish and comfortable room. The latest in a long history of lovely meals with friends and family!
No surprise this place is crowded. Everyone is nice and the food is great. Perfect neighborhood bistro.
We ate early and the noise level was fine, easy to have a conversation. As we were getting ready to leave it became much louder. The food and service were wonderful.
The food was delicious, the service was gracious and charming, and the wines (glass and bottle selections) were excellent. A great experience as always!
No surprises--always excellent. Dining Room in a microcosm of New York City and the bar scene is a voyeurs dream.
We felt like we were constantly being rushed to complete our dinner and leave the table......it was to the point of being annoying. If we let them I think they would have had us out of the restaurant in 30 minutes. Note we had cocktails, a 2 course dinner with a bottle of wine and were out the door in about 1 hour......not very enjoyable.
Always great food and service. We’ve been going for years.
Saturday we were going to a 1:00 PM matinee at the Metropolitan Opera and knew that we would get a good brunch with plenty of time to get to Lincoln Center after eating at the Cafe Luxembourg. Service was extremely good and attentive, and we did not feel rushed. My son and I had omelettes, and my husband had a burger. All of us were pleased with the quality and preparation of our lunches.
This is my favorite place to go with my boyfriend. Yet another wonderful meal with great service.
There are few places in NYC that offer a French Bistro-experience to the extent that Cafe Luxembourg provides such an experience. From the ambiance, to the wine and food, I cannot recommend CL enough if you're in the mood for fine, yet not overly-pretentious French cuisine. I had the Steak Frittes, my wife had the Halibut, and we split the octopus and onion soup (my wife thought it was too tart) before the meal. Everything was top-notch and the desserts (for her bday) were an added bonus, for which I would return to CL if in the mood. The service was just as good as the food. Can't wait to go back!
Feels like a high end diner
Had dinner with friends before a show at The Beacon Theater and the whole experience, per usual, was great. Looking forward to the next time.
always good! consistent and delicious. recommend it!
Tried and true restaurant that still brings out upper west siders in droves. The food is very good as is the service. They are very conscious about getting patrons out in time for performances so a good place to go pre-Lincoln Center
