Cafe Luxembourg
Located on 70th Street just west of Broadway, Café Luxembourg entertains New Yorkers and celebrities alike. The full service bar is home to many regulars. The lively buzz of the dining room is inviting and intimate. The frequency of dining customers is testament to the sincere efforts by the entire Café Luxembourg staff.
The menu changes seasonally as well as offering daily specials. The classic menu dishes maintain a level of cooking on par with the city’s best restaurants. Café Luxembourg offers beautifully prepared food with professional, yet unpretentious service at reasonable prices.
We arrived and we were greeted by the hostess, very pleasant. There was an older woman, not sure what her role but she needs to lighten up, quite dour. Our server was perfect, friendly, asked questions to ensure order was right. Even the busman was nice. the food was delicious and the restaurant wasnt overly busy.
Cafe Luxembourg is our favorite neighborhood restaurant. We have been going there for years. After more than 30 years, it still serves good quality bistro food and is always busy. Good bar scene as well. The burgers are great and of course Harry's Hot Fudge Sundae.
Outstanding as always. Why have have been a loyal diner for 35 years!
A perfect brunch!
Crowded, but worth it! Great food and superb service.
This classic French bistro is consistently excellent.
Cuisine is prepared de rigeur and to your liking.
Wait staff is professional, accessible and never intrusive.
Their pre-performance service is impeccable and timely.
NYC is lucky to have this keeper.
Excellent service. Delightful and very welcoming staff. Food was very well prepared. Very knowledgeable waiter.
Food was really mediocre and extremely overpriced. We were taking my elderly mother out for a celebratory late lunch in her neighborhood so we were okay paying a premium for convenience. However, her steak was nothing special and we all agreed that the food was better at the Viand Diner on Broadway.
We came for dinner on Thanksgiving since our grown kids were all out of town. We were welcomed so warmly and the hosts, bartenders, servers and brilliant manager Umberto made us feel as if we had dinner with the family. Delicious food, festive atmosphere—a truly splendid evening.
A wonderful neighborhood experience for us who are not in the neighborhood. It was a Thanksgiving meal, although we did not have much turkey. Other dishes were wonderful. Waiter was fabulous, attentive, friendly and made the experience better. Very busy, but it did not hinder the service.
Cafe Luxembourg is always a treat...and especially on Thanksgiving with family. Such a treat....as close to perfection as a cafe can get...and it's been doing it this way since the 1980's.
Don’t order the lobster roll. It’s two hors d’eurves trying to pass for an entre. Too much mayo and day old bun.
Great food, ambience and service. A local treasure.
Perfect in every way. A go-to. Always
We brought our 10 month old grand daughter for lunch, the staff was fantastic!
We visit Cafe Lux every time we are in NY. Always a great choice.
As always, the Cafe is a great neighborhood luxury...does sometimes get too noisy, but we love the
the place....service was difficult this time.

Food is consistently good. The service also is attentive.
We had to add
We did not enjoy our visit at Cafe Luxembourg. It took over half an hour for a waiter to take our order. The table are so crowded that waiters kept bumping my chair around. The food was nothing special. My friend had the worst stomach ache after our lunch. I will not be returning there.
Cafe Lux never disappoints! The food is always great, the staff is so nice and attentive and the ambiance is perfect for going out with your fav people for brunch!
I had the avocado toast and it was perfect. Loved the atmosphere, a little noisy, but not distracting where we couldn't hear each. Perfect for a New York eatery on a Saturday morning. Service was excellent, attentive but not bothersome.
Cafe Luxembourg is always a wonderful choice as evidenced by the lively, crowds that it attracts. Food is consistently excellent, the ambience is perfect. Tables are well spaced- not too closely, and despite the fact that it is always filled, you can still have a conversation with your dinner-mates. After so many years, it consistently remains my favorite spot in the neighborhood.
Always love my time at Cafe Lux. The team is so well trained and coordinated that they make it look easy. I wrote in the comments when making my reservation that we were celebrating a special birthday and they made the effort to put a candle in the dessert (I forgot to ask for that). They go the extra mile to make every occasion special.
Cafe Luxembourg ages with grace. The food remains excellent, with dishes to meet all dietary needs, the service is competent and the ambiance is pleasant. The only negative is that the tables are very close together, but noise level is good, so you can hear yourself and dining partners talk.
Excellent food & service!
I have been coming to the cafe since it opened almost 40 years ago. I love the place ,the food and the vibe. But what I have experienced for the last several years is an urgency on the part of the waiters to turn the tables. The service is rushed even when it’s not full and I never feel that I can really relax. My lunch guest on Thursday commented on it and I know it affected his experience. He enjoyed the meal but felt the service was lacking. He had never been before and will never come back.
I find surprisingly enough the bar is much more relaxing and I never feel rushed there even when it is crowded. Perhaps Ryan and the other bar tenders aren’t put under pressure by management to get people to leave. It is a shame.... but of course I will never stop coming because it has always been one of my favorite haunts!!! I just wanted to share my thoughts with you.
The quality and quantity of food was poor. Although it was breakfast dishes, I don't think one thin slice of avocado toast should cost $15 even if it had been a tasty avocado dish. This one was not. The service was very pleasant but the cafe was nearly empty at the time I was there. The kitchen needs to up its game, if they really want to be open for breakfast.
I love this place. It’s the perfect neighborhood restaurant in every way: delicious food, friendly and competent staff, great location and congenial atmosphere.
Always the best in every way. Food, service, personnel. Delicious and cheerful.
My favorite place.
I have been coming to Cafe Luxembourg for many years and have always enjoyed the experience.
Stunning true NYC experience. Every aspect meets a good standard. The negative is that tables are too close together which drags down the experience. Used to feel better about CL in the past.
Best bIstro on the Westside! Cosistey good food in a
fun environment!
This UWS staple is still providing good service and food after 30+ years in the neighborhood. From all day omelettes and burgers to grilled fish and more, Cafe Luxembourg is a wonderful spot to enjoy a good meal.
Good food and a lovely ambiance. So nice to meet and chat with old friends... and the wait staff couldn’t be nicer.
We love Cafe Luxembourg- probably our favorite upper West Side/Lincoln Center restaurant both for its excellent service and excellent food cooked with a level of professionalism that puts other restaurants in the area to shame. Never disappointed- they always do a great job
Perfect bistro for brunch. Food is flavorful. Great energy. It’s a little crowded so not good for an intimate conversation but perfect if you want to giggle loudly
We always make a point of stopping in for pancakes when we are in town. Our go to Sunday brunch. Great food, service and well worth the trip uptown.
Always reliable: elegant and friendly, swanky and cozy. A great neighborhood place, and great to impress visitors. There’s a reason it’s always busy, even for a 10.30pm dinner. Hits the bullseye, consistently, decade after decade.
Love, love, love Luxembourg. Been my go- to restaurant for over 35 years.
