Located on 70th Street just west of Broadway, Café Luxembourg entertains New Yorkers and celebrities alike. The full service bar is home to many regulars. The lively buzz of the dining room is inviting and intimate. The frequency of dining customers is testament to the sincere efforts by the entire Café Luxembourg staff.
The menu changes seasonally as well as offering daily specials. The classic menu dishes maintain a level of cooking on par with the city’s best restaurants. Café Luxembourg offers beautifully prepared food with professional, yet unpretentious service at reasonable prices.
As we have come to expect, everything was close to perfection. Especially exceptional was our server, Maren. Gracious and attentive without being intrusive, she was also able to answer our question about the salmon cogently.
From the Captain at the entrance to the young lady who seats you, the warmth of reception is notable .
The waiter was personable , although a little frazzled because his station was too large and jammed with a large table, he managed to keep everyone happy .
The food is consistently good , try the Luxenburger with fries and top it off with a Harry’s Sunday and you will
Have a great evening .
Good food - poor service.
Superb, service included, and excellent advice about wine
Too much batter of the crab.
Wonderful kindness in posting to me something that I had left behind
I've been many, many times, and will always return
Wonderful service. Everyone, even the other customers, were friendly and nice. Good food, great ambience. We really enjoyed the experience and will definitely be back!
Lovely, classic French food, many casual bistro-style options, beautifully presented. Servers are friendly and attentive. Always good.
Very tasty seasonal menu. The wine list is varied and offers quality (though can be a bit pricey). The service is always good - the staff have a good attitude. This is definitely a neighborhood gem.
You have an excellent restaurant and staff. I was SO HAPPY!!!!!
You all add to the flavor of NYC!!
I’ll be back!!!
Excellent food. It doesn’t get better than this. I usually sit at the bar with one of the best bartenders on the planet (Ryan). This time I was in the dining room. I do prefer the bar but this was also a superior experience.
We had dinner at the bar. We are long term veterans of the NY restaurant scene and we found the bartender highly accommodating and attentive. His advice was good all the way and we left quite satisfied.
One of our favorite places for a meal when we are in the area. Very good food in pleasant surroundings.
Great uws place
Like the omelette and the all day menu
I love Cafe Luxembourg for all the stars mentioned above. I have never had a bad experience in all the years I have been a patron.
Also love the convenience of Open Table.
Cafe Luxembourg remains one of my favorite restaurants. Entering the restaurant always has the same warmth and positive vibe. The decor is timeless, the classic French bistro food is delicious, service is great, and the ambiance always lively. In many years of dining there for lunch and dinners, I've always had an excellent experience.
Our waiter was lovely and all service was terrific. A little cramped and since it was raining, a lot of coats and umbrellas everywhere. The brussel sprout salad was excellent and surprising!
Considering that it was Mother's Day, the service was excellent - attentive and not rushed. The place was packed, but we were seated on time. The food was excellent.
Amazing service with delicious food! What more can you ask for when you are a visitor?
Excellent meal and particularly attentive service. Very noisy! But quieted down as the evening went on and tables emptied out. It was our first time at this restaurant and we will definitely go back.
Cafe Lux is one of the nicest and best restaurants on the UWS. The ambiance is lovely, the food excellent, and I am happy to recommend it to anyone.
Good is good. It is also good that the quantity is not too much.
Excellent food. Exemplary service.
We go here very often for a pre-concert dinner since it is a 10 minute walk to Lincoln Center. We have never been disappointed by a meal or the service which is specifically geared to pre-theatre times. It is one of our favorite places for an early dinner. The bar scene is always quite lively as well.
Great little place - had the hamburger and fries based on advice from my waitress and it was great! Typical NYC prices - $22 for a burger but I will say it was awesome...
Consistently good food , attentive staff. This place has been here for many years for a reason.
Great place to have a quiet early dinner. Traditional, clean with attention to detail. They kept in mind our curtain time and we left with plenty of time! Didn’t feel rushed, food was cooked to perfection, perfectly seasoned and with this one must read -not the cheap way to solve seasoning, aka as put garlic until it overpowers every single flavor- We hasd grilled octopus, Brussels sprouts salad, lamb and steak frites). What the chef at Luxembourg does is magnificent (and a real art!), because you can experience all the wonderful flavors without thinking (and smelling) the persistent pungent garlic (so overused in some restaurants) that kills everything it touches. We’re always in the look for places like this one, and will make sure to keep it in our list of “best kept secrets in NYC”.
This is our favorite neighborhood breakfast place, and it's consistently good. Good variety of choices, all well executed.
always good however forgot my birthday cake even though it was mentioned when we arrived
We arrived well before our 6PM reservation and were seated immediately.
Our server was courteous and prompt.
The food was, as usual, quite good.
We continued our string of celebrity sightings at Cafe Luxembourg with a view of John Laroquette, whom we had seen perform the previous evening in a John Guare play. Previously, we had seen Daniel Craig and Al Pacino on separate occasions.
For the price, the food is undistinguished. With drinks our tab for brunch came to almost $90 pp. Maybe worth it for a burger or omelette, but nothing else excites enough to pay that kind of money.
An out-of-town friend and I were meeting our wives after they and his granddaughter attended the ballet at Lincoln Center down the street. We nursed drinks at our 10 pm table for a few minutes before they arrived, then the waiter gave everybody time to order without pushing. It's a perfect bistro menu, especially for late night -- three of us ordered Moules Provencal. It was quiet enough to talk, and the time passed so quickly we were surprised to find it was after midnight when we left.
Excellent as always: food, service and ambiance. I do wish they would put the calves liver back on the menu. Perfect with the country salad.
I have been taking a friend to Café Lux for breakfast for his birthday every May 3 for the past fifteen years. It never fails to please. The food is great - I had poached eggs and English muffins - and the service is always gracious and warm. There are so few places on the Upper West Side that provide a truly civilized way to have breakfast - Café Lux is precious!
Wery nice place with French atmosphere👍
our favorite restaurant of all time -- home away from home
Excellent — as always.
I love Lux for every meal!
Fantastic mussels, great wellfleet oysters and wonderful rose sancere.
Fantastic breakfast cafe. We've never been disappointed. The food is wonderfully and carefully prepared, like perfectly poached eggs with Hollandaise, cinnamon in the French toast and real maple syrup. And importantly, the coffee is strong and smooth.
This is our favorite restaurant for years when we’re in the area. We had dinner after a show this time around and it’s very good as usual.
