Excellent restaurant well located not too far from Lincoln Center with a (slight) French accent.
Open long hours so good for pre- and post-theater and opera performances. Attracts more than its fair share of opera, music and theater people. Always very attentive service.
I was over charged for an order I did not place. Didn't realize it until I got home. This place is not what it used to be. I feel sad.
Pricey for brunch and portion sizes were small for $20+. Service was good.
Very nice brunch
Good food, good service. We keep coming back! We've recommended it to people in the neighborhood.
Fine quality food, as always, excellent service and first rate manager.
Fun energetic atmosphere
Perfect location and great service for a long relaxing business lunch. Definitely would recommend and return again.
Great all around!
We live in the nabe for 15 years, yet have only gone to Cafe Luxembourg once before.
Four of us thoroughly enjoyed the evening and for sure we will be back often.
I booked a big table and my guests arrived at different times. This restaurant was exceptionally accommodating and friendly- which has become a rare thing in NYC. The service was impeccable and so was the food. Amazing experience.
Table was not ready and we were seated about 20 minutes after our reservation time.
Food was good as always and the ambience and setting were wonderful!
the food has remained consistently good for many years. I had not been in awhile and found the service somewhat lacking and very perfunctory; the waiter seemed to be going through the motion. at these prices training should be better. the ambiance is wonderful although the tables are a bit tight.
Cafe Luxembourg is always fun as a place to meet and eat. Service is great and the food is tops. I love to go to CL
We had a mother’s day brunch . We were very early but we were seated quickly. The food was French bistro type , with the best French fries you find you can find on the West side .
Mother’s Day Brunch was wonderful. One of my favorite places
Cafe Luxembourg has been in its spot for years, and it is always the same; and I mean that in a good way. It is a very pretty restaurant, has lovely flowers, and the food is always good. Just had brunch on a very busy Mothers' Day, but the service was very nice, and we were not rushed at all. One of my all time favorites.
Interesting experience. Place was empty upon arrival. Figured I wouldn't need a reservation since I saw availability currently on open table. Was told we couldn't have a table. Walked out, clicked reservation on open table, walked back in and was seated.!? Obviously hostess was playing a game. Doesn't make any sense. Food was ok. Place looks like a diner. tables too close together. Wouldn't go again.
Our favorite for brunch. Wonderful menu and great coffee. Perfect spot to connect with friends and catching up. Perfect wait staff - attentive, but unobtrusive and the feel of old New York.
Another wonderful pre-Lincoln Center dinner! Particularly good--the salmon, the Luxembourger, and Harry's Hot Fudge Sundae. Excellent service. We did have to wait about 10 minutes for our table, but we finished in time to make our performance. Will definitely be returning.
I only started eating at this UWS stalwart a few months ago. The food is real french comfort food done well. I had the octopus appetizer which was very tasty. I wouldn't have thought to serve octopus with a carrot salad but it worked well. The roast chicken was wonderful. The chicken was cooked perfectly and was nice and juicy. The lentils, potatoes and escarole were very nice. The dish was slightly under seasoned. The pate choux for the profiteroles was perfection--- light and flaky providing just the right "crust" for the ice cream and chocolate sauce. Something I've noticed in my couple of visits: Cafe Luxembourg has an exceptionally friendly and nice staff. Cafe Luxembourg is a perfect choice if you are heading down to Lincoln Center for a spring evening out.
An old favorite in the past, it was very disappointing at dinner on 5/11. Octopus was dried out and tough. Onion soup was like dish water. Fish and chips ok. Vegetable entree ok. Tuna burger was good.
Service--by an old hand--was excellent.
Food was much better in the past and quality of service was also.
Moderately noisy as they do a great business BUT fine food, a great bar staff, excellent servers, reasonable prices in a cozy atmosphere makes it a definite GO TO place. Pre theater, post theater, just a night out, neighborhood gem. It fits a lot of categories. Loved it
Smartest and most talented restaurant staff in NYC (They can usually also sing and dance).
The atmosphere is live but it's not THAT noisy. Over the years, the food remains really good and reliable. Better make a res.
We went here before the Opera. Food good but I remember it much better a number of years ago. Not enough variety on the menu. I normally don't eat dessert but the Huckleberry sorbet was probably the best sorbet I have ever had. The lobster roll main was a bit disappointing. It was not as noisy as I would have expected. Good, but nothing exceptional
Food was great, service very prompt and friendly. Prices are reasonable. Brought non - NYers there and they enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend it. Great location on the UWS.
Great place to start a theater visiting evening! Perfectly located and great food!
I love this place. The waiters are so nice and the food is great. I come as often as I can. It is tops on my list.Suzanne Lubell THe gluten free buns are an added attraction.
Chose restaurant to celebrate birthday of friend with party of four. Due to food restrictions menu was limited for me so I selected Nicoise Salad which was offered on bread. I asked if they could skip the bread and give it to me as a salad. They said they would give me what was included in sandwich with some salad on the side. I said fine. When the bill came my salad was $21 (as in menu) plus they charged me an extra $12 for the skimpy bit of salad they provided on the side. I asked why they didn’t disclose this extra cost when I placed my order? They then removed it from the bill. The meal was just OK with lots of canned tuna, a few string beans two half’s of medium cooked egg, some capers and some lettuce. My friends had the salmon which looked much better. The high point of lunch was dessert which was excellent — we had the hazelnut chocolate cake with banana sorbet which was intense dark chocolate, like a flourless cake. My friend had the apple tarte with vanilla ice cream, also delicious. Wine selections by the glass were also very good.
Absolutely one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants. Best food around and superb service.
This go to restaurant has been a favorite for over thirty years. Always enjoyable.
Great UWS venue - always fun, great food and service. Interesting crowd.
A neighborhood resident who has always liked Cafe Luxembourg, I was disappointed with my most recent visit. The mixed greens with my omelette was quite literally pieces of whole lettuce taken out of a big. I ordered a side of sauteed spinach to make up for it, and was charged $12.00. Maybe this would have been acceptable for A LOT of spinach, but suffice it to say it was not.
Very busy/noisy @ Sunday brunch, but selicious food and excellent service.
Always great ambience and excellent food. Very good vibe. Prices could be a bit lower. But overall a great place.
friendly staff and excellent fish and chips and burgers
Visiting town and had a most enjoyable experience - good service, great ambience, and then a short walk to the opera. The only negative was a rather woody Artichokes and Asparagus presentation - odd to find that in such a cosmopolitan restaurant. We will go again but we will avoid that dish !
Superb food and a touchstone for us when we go to NYC.
Was little disappointed with dish presentation:( and little exuberant price for 3 leave green salad:)
