There was a private party in the bar the night we were there. Very crowded in the dining room. There was no where for bar patrons to go. We waited for our table while "happy hour" guests were seated before us. Not very well executed.
Overall experience wonderful. Only issue was we waited 10-15 min for valet to get our car. Should staff valet better when there is a large event at the restaurant.
Love this place for everything it offers...location, views, buzz, decor, service! It's wonderful. I'd normally say the food is great, too, but this time the sliders were very dry and a big disappointing as they're typically delicious. Otherwise, great place as always!
The salads were good as were the sides but the hanger steak was fair - not a lot of flavor. 3 of us had the hanger steak and it didn’t come close to the hanger steak at Burch. It didn’t even come sizzling hot. We were disappointed and didn’t bother to finish it.
One of our guests had the halibut special- he thought it was just okay - nothing to rave about.
Service was great - John is an excellent server .
The food was just very average and not worth the $600 meal.
All in all disappointing- also wish we were made aware that the bar area was closed for a private party - we had come early to have a drink at the bar. Lurcat used to be one of our very favorite restaurants.
Ken our waiter was exceptional!! Our food was Perfection. We had one small incident with one dinner and the restaurant rectified it immediately and went above and beyond to make it right. I cannot say enough great things about this restaurant. Every single time we come here we wonder why we ever go anywhere else. I ordered Seabass and it was cooked to perfection as was every other thing we ate. The wine menu is very nice. I also ordered the grapefruit martini and it is by far my favorite cocktail that I order anywhere. I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday dinner.
We have been to Cafe Lurcat many times and this time was especially wonderful. We arrived early because our event was out early, got seated immediately at a lovely table, the fireworks from Hollidazzle started fairly soon after we sat and our server - I think his name was Michael but not sure, was out of this world great! The food was so delicious I was thinking about it the following day. Love Cafe Lurcat.
I had the hanger steak and it was very good. However it was served on a metal plate an so it was luke warm. I would use China instead to keep the heat.
We have dined at Lurcat several times and given good reviews. However, this time was different. The courses came at weird times , not coordinated with
others in our group, and everything took forever to come to the table. In one case an aperitif came after people had had their coffee and dessert and had to leave because we had been there for over 3 hrs.
Had a terrific meal with dear friends. It was a festive atmosphere and we lingered over wine and dessert. Will be back!!!
We made a reservation for Sunday night because I had heard about their Date Night special. It’s $55 per couple and you get an appetizer, entree and dessert. The food was delicious and such a great value. They also have half price bottles of wine. What really made it extra special was the holiday ambiance. Beautiful building lit up for the holidays and overlooking Loring Park. Lovely!!
We celebrated my sons birthday and we ordered mist of the same items we get all the time. The ginger shrimp fried rice was great but missing something. The hangar steak wasn’t quite as good as it usually is, maybe different preparation. The Amish chicken was good but a bit salty, we were too full for dessert but they brought us donuts for the birthday. Everything was great, just not outstanding like most of the time
We had a wonderful meal with fabulous attentive service.
Excellent service and food
Had excellent service from Monica. Cozy table in the corner by the radiator. Looked out over Loring Park and was able to see the Holidazzle fireworks from our seats. Would highly recommend for a romantic occasion.
Don't know....I requested a table in the dining room when making my reservation a long while ago ...when we arrived was told there were no tables available...small dining room was empty; not used and there were window tables there...sat in the bar by the window which was ok. Hostess was not friendly; the most helpful person was a young, pretty woman who said she would make a note of what happened and we would get a table next time.. Food was good but not as good as usual for the price...not hot and average taste
Service, ambiance, and quality of food never disappoint. Another wonderful experience tonight.
Date night is a great value. Mitch our waiter provided excellent service (have always had excellent service at Lurcat)
I was with a party of Six and we all had a delicious meal. From the salads to the desserts, we all were impressed with the consistency of the kitchen. It was, however, our sever who made our evening wonderful. You know professionalism when you see it, and Will was beyond professional.
Wonderful experience from start to finish.
Can’t wait to go back.
Just a great experience. Really liked the feel of the place. Great food and service. Our server Michael, was fantastic. He really knew the menu and made some great suggestions to us. Great wine list. The sea bass and pot roast were outstanding. Highly recommend you consider Lurcat! We will be going again.
Great dinner! The Tuna tartare was melt in your mouth with a perfect mix of citrus and ginger. The Snake River Farms Gold Bottom Sirloin was perfectly cooked medium rare. It was tender with amazing flavor. Bone marrow came with the steak, and for a first time having bone marrow it was awesome. For sides, the roasted cauliflower is a must have.
This is a restaurant that everyone should go to.
Both the experience and the food were well worth the price. Perfect place for an anniversary, birthday, or fancy date night. Be prepared to spend some money, but the customer service is incredible, the ambiance is warm and intimate, and every bite of the food is incredible. Highly recommend sharing an order of the cauliflower with your date, and order the scallops and prosecco for your entree. Will definitely be back once my next paycheck hits :)
New menu is coming out our server told us! Chicken pot pie ,for example.
Our dinner was outstanding!
Everything was delicious!
We had crab cakes, caviar, foie gras to start. Entrees included, salmon, pot roast, sea bass, (signature dish),
Cauliflower side fries ( the best) and a house salad. So awesome!
Great food and service. Good value.
Went for a business dinner with a group of 8. The service was great, food delicious, ambiance enjoyable.. a little loud but all in all great experience. Thank you!
Date night is a great value and lovely ambiance not to be missed.
Best Sunday date night in the Twin Cities! We will be back.
We go to Cafe Lurcat frequently - they never fail to please! The menu is extensive enough to have something for everyone yet it’s not overwhelming. The wine list is more than adequate, well thought out, and has prices to fit most budgets - there are several selections by the glass as well. Service here is great, the servers keep an eye on you and check in occasionally but your meal isn’t interrupted by half a dozen people asking if “everything is ok” - that’s so annoying! AND everyone is served at the same time - the servers work as a team.
Last visit we went with friends and we all ordered from the Sunday Date Night menu. This option is the best dinner deal in the Twin Cities - 3 courses for $55.00 per couple and half-price bottles of wine? Count me in!!! As always, the meals were perfection. We’ve had nothing but great experiences at Cafe Lurcat over the many years we’ve been going there and we highly recommend it.
Food service and cocktail orders were slow all night
consistently slow. I understand they served over 400 meals prior to 9:00 but we were just one of the tables and even a drink took long!
I ordered the sea bass - this was absolutely fantastic - best sea bass I have ever had. My wife had the scallops which were very good. A little pricey, but very memorable dinner for our 30th anniversary. We will not wait another 30 years to go back!
This was our first visit to Cafe Lurcat and we were not disappointed . The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. Our waitress was very patient with us and allowed us as much time as we needed to sort through the menu and make our decisions. We will return in the future
It is always special to dine at Café Lurcat. From a warm greeting when entering to a sincere good-bye from staff when leaving it is a most enjoyable evening. The food remains excellent as well as all of the wait staff.
Great experience and awesome food! We’ll definitely be back.
Celebrated our 25 year anniversary here. Everything was great. We've been referring to all our friends. Our table was by the kitchen. While entertaining to watch the action in the kitchen it was a bit noisy. Ask for Ken for you server if you go.
Always a great place to eat.
