Really nice restaurant, superb and authentic portuguese food - wonderful!
Wonderful food, great presentation, great service, overall an excellent experience.
Very excellent cuisine, enjoyed every single dish, much attention to detail on the food, lovely open ambiance, no music, comfortable.
Went for Sunday Brunch and the food was great. The benedicts and the chicken salad were prepared perfectly and the staff were attentive and professional. The restaurant is off the main street and the ambience was relaxed, quiet and casual. Healdsburg can be hectic and crowded on Sunday, but Café Lucia was a perfect choice.
The best service of any restaurant in the Healdsburg/Santa Rosa area - absolutely impeccable! Fish was outstanding, as well as the hot rolls and sangria. Desserts could be improved upon but it’s a lovely place to dine.
Four of us came to try during restaurant week. We had our dinner on the patio and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Excellent service, food and atmosphere. We will be back.
Excellent food based Portuguese cuisine. It is definitely worth trying.
My wife and I had been to Cafe Lucia before and enjoyed it very much, so we were looking forward to another great Portuguese meal. The food was as excellent as we remembered, so I tip my hat to the kitchen staff. So why only 3 stars? Unfortunately the service left us underwhelmed. Full disclosure: we were there on Thursday, March 8th, during Sonoma County Restaurant Week, and the restaurant was quite full. We arrived on time for our 7:15 pm reservation. Our table wasn't ready yet, so we were seated at the bar and handed a drink menu. So far so good. We would gladly have ordered a drink, except that during our 10 minutes at the bar, no one ever came to ask us if we'd like anything. Once our table was ready, we were seated and soon placed our order for the prix fixe dinner and the wine flights. The wine and some very nice bread rolls were brought to the table in a timely manner. Then things went dark. At 8 pm, we flagged down the waitress and asked if she could bring the first course, a Tasca plate with Lupini beans, olives and cheese (no cooking required for any of these!). It's not clear if she had simply forgotten to bring it earlier, or if someone else was supposed to have delivered it. Finally, at 8:25 pm, our main courses arrived. The restaurant was only about half full at this point, so I guess they finally had time to attend to our order. Normally, we would expect the waiter to come by a few minutes after bringing the food to check and make sure everything was OK. Our waitress never did come back to check on us.
We're blessed to have a lot of great restaurants in Sonoma County. So when we run into this level of service, it leaves us with very little motivation to go back to Cafe Lucia anytime soon.
Everything was so lovely! We had an amazing time! Will definitely be back again!
Delicious Portuguese and European food and good service.
We looked forward to Lucia’s after viewing the menu and reading reviews. We are both fans of country style cooking with braises, stews and rich sauces. Lucia did not deliver. The meal started well with a nice Tosca Tasting Plate and Salada Portuguese. The kale salad was tasty and nicely prepared served with anchovy vinegarette. The Alcatra Portuguese Pot Roast was bland and gave no sign of a fully braised pot roast. It was more like “short rib placed on top of some baked potatoes and carrots.” No rich sauce or notable seasoning other than some strong, chewy sun dried tomato. The dish also had to be sent back for reheating, a real turn off for a pot roast. The Feijoada Completa (stewed beef, pork and sausage over black beans) was equally disappointing. No rich sauces or seasoning. I found one piece of fatty beef and little sign of pork or sausage. The beans were tasty but needed more liquid. The meal came with some nice spinach and a peculiar mound of rice topped with salsa in the middle of the stew. The overwhelming ingredients were rice and beans. On the other hand, the restaurant is nicely decorated, reasonably quiet and service was excellent. I also appreciate the policy of allowing one bottle of wine without a corkage fee.
Wonderful Sunday Brunch, several unique dishes featured on the menu
Great neighborhood restaurant, wonderful Portuguese cuisine with good flavors.....wonderful staff....went back several times.
Our party of three ordered three different items, two menu items, and one special (Portuguese Fisherman's Stew) for lunch. We shared bites of each other's food and everything we had so delicious! Our server was attentive, explained the dishes well and made our experience delightful. Because two of us were going back to work, we opted not to order wine. However, Lucia, the owner, offered us a taste of her favorite low alcohol Portuguese Vino Verde wine and it was such a generous gesture and the wine was absolutely wonderful. I can't wait to go back and order a bottle!
I've been to Cafe Lucia several times and it is one of my favorite places in Healdsburg. I would highly recommend it to anyone either having a lunch or brunch with friends and family or a date night. It is a comfortable place to enjoy a truly great dining experience. I'm already looking for another excuse to go back.
food delish, wait people attentive and friendly, ambiance and seating cozy. lovely outside patio, weather permitting.
Cafe Lucia never disappoints. Food is consistently delicious with great service. Highly recommend it to visitors and locals alike.
Great food, wine list and service. Unfortunately, the bar is not very comfortable seating so wouldn't recommend eating their.
Repeat visit to this Portuguese restaurant. We sit outside in the covered patio (nice). It was cold and, even with reservations, the heaters were not on when we got there. Once asked, they lit one heater. When asked again several minutes later, they lit a second heater.
Food is good but lacked spices. Asked for, and received salt and pepper which helped a lot.
We may be back but we've tried it 4 times and never been overwhelmed.
Like this restaurant better for brunch.
Great place for dinner.. very good authentic dishes of portugal.our waiter was fluent in Portuguese and he and my wife chatted in her native language and helped me with some of my phrases as I am learning (slowly).. I would definitely recommend.
Great food and service. We travel over 30 minutes to dine hear and do not regret it.
The menu is very limited and I actually didn’t find anything I wanted to eat. The white Portuguese wine was excellent and the service was very nice. I had been here once before and this visit confirmed that I probably won’t be back.
Cafe Lucia was a great experience. Once we were seated, we were offered amuse-bouche treats. Those were delicious. Our server was really good and answered questions to help us decide what to order.
We wanted to try the Portuguese cuisine and each dish we tried was superb. The dishes combined great flavors, spices and ingredients. I loved the fisherman's stew. The dinner rolls were grandma's recipe and were delightful.
We ate early so the restaurant was not too full - and so the experience (to us) was quite lovely. It's a very nicely decorated and warm space with tables both inside and outside. For sure, we will eat here again.
Fresh interpretation of Portuguese food. It was a quiet evening and we were allowed to linger over our meal. Really nice that the wine corkage fee was waived.
Perfect as always! We live an hour away but make the effort to dine here as often as possible. It is one of our favorite restaurants in the entire county. Living in both Napa and Sonoma counties over the last 20 years, we have eaten at almost every fine restaurant. But this is the one we keep coming back to time and time again.
Cafe Lucia is tucked away in a cozy off the street location. The food is true Portuguese offering incredible and unique flavors. A must visit in Sonoma County.
Several people we asked had heard of Cafe Lucia but had never eaten there so we debated about keeping our dinner reservations. I am so glad we did - the food was excellent! I had the fisherman's stew and my husband the short ribs. Both dishes were wonderfully seasoned and plentiful. They gave us a small colorful and tasty beet starter as well as chocolate bites after the meal both complimentary. The dinner rolls were different and very good. Their free corkage policy was much appreciated as we brought wine from our local wine tasting. We ate inside because it was winter, but the restaurant has a nice covered area which would be perfect for outdoor dining. Service was a nice balance of efficient and attentive. I definitely recommend this restaurant and would make a point to go back again.
Tapas not the same
Friendly atmosphere, passionate about authentic Portuguese traditional offerings.
Able to explain ingredients and preparation. House made dinner rolls baked daily. Outstanding !
Great experience at Cafe Lucia! The dishes we ordered were delicious. The grilled sardines were simple and spectacular, reminding us of Portugal. We actually ordered more sardines to take out after our meal. Highly recommended!
Food was delicious! Complementary pre-dinner "beet shooter" and complimentary sweet at the end of of very wonderful dinner. Food fresh, well prepared, beautiful presentation. Would definitely go back again! and if you bring a Sonoma County wine there is no corkage therefore dinner was quite a value.
Wonderful meal. Great atmosphere. Awesome service. If you've never tried Portuguese food try it here.
Order was screwed up. Service was very slow. Noisy room . Portions were small for the price.
We went to Cafe Lucia for the first time as a date night venture as it was highly recommended by Open Table. Service, food, ambience was outstanding. It was a bit noisy as there was a large wine event going on that weekend and there were a number of people having dinner that had been out wine tasting that afternoon - not a usual occurrence.
Love this restaurant. The food is excellent, and a bit different from normal fare. The decor is terrific, it is comfortable and welcoming. The amuse bouche and truffle trailers were an added delight. We went on a Wednesday night; the ambience suffered from a lack of patrons. This restaurant deserves waiting lists as it is a wonderful place to dine. There were three of us, and we each had something different; we all loved our meals!
Good cuisine option in restaurant-filled Healdsburg. Reasonable for lunch and no corkage fee for local wines - a major plus. reat
A truly lovely place to dine with great service and a menu that is quite different from any other cuisine. It is not Spanish or Italian, it is food from the land of Portugal including the wine list. You should make a reservation as they book up almost every night although there is usually seating at the bar.
My friend and I kicked off the planning for our spring trip to Portugal at Cafe Lucia. What a jewel! Wonderful introduction to Portuguese food and wines. Love the option to taste a variety of wines. We will definitely be back as our trip gets closer and after the trip to relive Portugal.
Good food...but little ambiance.
Needs good music or something to liven up the place.
Great food and service. Will definitely go back on next visit.
