Fantastic authentic food, wine and dessert. Exceptional service. A wonderful experience.
Really wish they had a wood oven for preparing food.
Very tasty food! We enjoyed the "gift from the chef" at the beginning and end of the meal. There we're 6 of us and we all enjoyed our food. The server was friendly and helpful. But the evening we were there the restaurant was empty. I normally do not enjoy dining in an empty restaurant. It obviously kept the noise level under control though. And we did have a nice eating experience non-the-less.
Food was very good with some unique tastes. Service was friendly and efficient.
Superb from start to finish!
Great spot slightly off the beaten path of the town square that affords something different for diners. Menu is clean with interesting choices. Service was friendly and consistent. Food was cooked well and delicious. House made rolls are warm and delicious served with salted butter.
We brought wine so I'm unsure of the wine menu but I've been for lunch and remember a nice foreign menu which is welcome in the middle of wine country.
Great value, good service, and if the weather was nice fantastic outdoor space.
they started us with a complimentary beet shooter, which was a nice surprise. it was light, and lovely. the free roll was not as successful. it smelled amazing, but all of us agreed didn't taste very good.
the wine list was a challenge. we didn't recognize most of the wines. we asked our waiter for help, and while he was very nice, and sounded knowledgeable, we didn't like either wine he recommended. next time we will bring our own, and pay the $15 corkage.
two of us had the caldo soup, which was enjoyable. they both ate every last drop.
my husband had the scallops with sweet potato puree- it was not good. it smelled fishy, which was off putting, but worse was the textures were bad. there was nothing successful about that dish. i tasted his dish, and agreed with him.
I had the kale salad. my first impression was that they didn’t massage the kale enough, but after a few bites I didn’t care. the combination of textures and flavors were wonderful! I loved it! he tasted my salad, and agreed with me.
two of us ordered the pot roast. it was absolutely divine. the meat was tender and moist - didn't need a knife, and the vegetables that accompanied it were arguably the best part. they had great caramelization, while retaining a nice firmness. this dish had it all. it looked good, and smelled good. the textures, and flavors were spot on!
one had the bass, and enjoyed it.
my husband had the almond and fig stuffed pork tenderloin. it was delicious! the pot roast still beat it, but it was really tasty. the pot roast visually made the better impression, and that set the tone. again my husband and I shared bites, and we're in agreement.
we were again delightfully surprised at the end of the meal, when four tiny hazelnut chocolates accompanied our bill. they were a perfect finish.
we will happily return.
The service was exceptional food was fresh. The complimentary chocolates are a very nice touch.ill definitely dine at cafe Lucias again.
The staff is welcoming and helpful. A seasonal amuse bouche shot of beet and yogurt was a great start. The cod cakes are incredible, as was the broth in the Fisherman's Stew. The traditional Portuguese soup, the sea bass, and the pot roast were also winners. The chocolate dessert was a great finish. Would highly recommend for the food and the service.
Wonderful Portugese small plates, unusual dishes like tripe, blood sausage, pork belly, octopus, plus options for the less adventurous. Rivals Willis's Wine Bar small plates in Santa Rosa for food (though much smaller wine selection). In and outdoor dining. We loved it.
and will be back,
Food was excellent. I had the prawns and risotto, quite delicious. My sister had the pot roast which she raved about.
Very fresh and unique food. An excellent alternate to the main street establishments, even though its really only 100ft away. Totally enjoyed it and will return!
Food just ok. Indifferent staff. Came up to take our food order without ever asking if we wanted a drink. Asked for additional bread said they would bring twice and never did.
I picked this restaurant based on other reviews and will say, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety and flavors of everything we ordered. Wait staff was very friendly and helpful, and invisible except when we needed them.
We live in Healdsburg and have tried almost all the excellent restaurants. Café Lucia is with the very best. We love coming here, find the food superb, service warm and friendly,
atmosphere charming. Could not be better.
Cafe Lucia does a wonderfully job preparing and updating Portuguese cuisine. The emphasis
of fresh ingredients, fresh seafood and excellent service is a winning combination. The Traditional dessert was a great way to finish the meal.
The service was great and the food was good. I enjoyed the tasting menu. I ate light had the beet salad and it was very good but my husband had the scallop which had a lightly crust of linquica on top. It was delicious!
Enjoyable meal but there is more interesting food elsewhere in Healdsburg.
We had a wonderful dinner here last time when we stayed in Guernville to celebrate our anniversary.
This time we thought we'd pop in for lunch, an 86 mile drive. Food is still good.
Authentic Portuguese cuisine for those who want something a little different than the usual Italian, French, Spanish, or Greek. Fresh ingredients, well presented, and an interesting and unusual wine/Port list. Nice atmosphere with lovely Portuguese music playing. Pleasant outdoor patio for when the weather is warmer.
Distinctive menu, creative, flavorful dishes. Servers were attentive and friendly. Brought us a couple of delicious surprises... Christmas? Will go again!
Excellent service and food. Would like to try everything on the menu but not right now. The four of us throughly enjoyed the evening there.
Fabulous value for money. Top notch dining and leave room for the desserts which are exquisite.
our favorite healdsburg restaurant. usually quiet enough. great place for our anniversary lunch. enjoyed their sea bass. great server.
It was lovely.
The only thing I would say was the waiter made it too obvious that he was trying to push us to spend more money and clearly he was not happy with the tip which was 20% on the total, not on the tax.
They also need more delicious that don't have fish.
Other than that - delicious, unique, & generous.
It started out as a business lunch but it turned into lunch with my daughter. We had a big dinner planned for the evening so we wanted something light. And we found the perfect combination. We shared the Salda Portuguesa and the Piri-piri Chicken. Before that though, we were treated to a "shooter" of beet puree that was so incredible that I am not able to do it justice with my lame description. I am always amazed and pleased by the little extras that Café Lucia provides free of charge. The kale salad with linguica and São Jorge cheese was delicious and the piri-piri chicken was incredible!
Food was very good, nicely presented. Service was so so.
I had La Feijoada Completa which was very tasty and rich. My friend had a fish, I think it was bass, and he was happy. They do not have a full bar. I enjoyed a glass of a powerful red Portuguese wine which stepped right up to the stew and said Hi.
The decor is "wine cellar moderne," which will never be our favorite. We like a dining room atmosphere with drapes and table cloths and a touch of old fashioned formality, but that's just us. Our server was darling and he did everything to make us comfortable and satisfied.
Altogether excellent. We'll be back. The outdoor seating will be nice in the spring.
Wonderful food! We all three had the mushroom risotto that was outstanding! 'Well balance flavors and served dry warm in a bowl with just the right portion.
Wine selection was ok as they are obviously Portuguese niche specific but had some nice choices. "When In Rome,...." right?
The cheese platter option for dessert was outstanding!
Very attentive service and smiles abound. This is a spot where I'd like to go back and sample various menu items.
Also, there are a few "comfy" dining lounge chairs around a few dining tables which makes sitting very comfortable. They may be on to something here:
> Comfortable seating results in longer attendance equals additional menu items ordered?
Most certainly a contrast to many a restaurant with uncomfortable chairs resembling something that Salvador Dali or Picasso would design!
I took my co-workers out to lunch at Cafe Lucia for the holidays. They apsolutely loved it, just like I do!
A hidden gem in Healdsburg. Great, authentic Portuguese food, cooked very well with excellent service.
I ate here twice in one week, making the trip over from Calistoga - that's how good the food is.
We were late for our reservation and called; they said no problem, the chef would be happy to keep the kitchen open and prepare anything we wanted. Everything was terrific.
Kind, welcoming staff and delicious Mediterranean food. What more could you ask for! Even something authentic and suitable for our picky teens. Off the beaten track so a good bet when other places are full. A lovely evening thankyou.
Great as always! We'll return and recommend Cafe Lucia to friends.
The restaurant just had no personality. The wait staff was ok. They weren't rude in any way. There just wasn't a good energy. I have been more satisfied at restaurants with a lower quality of food and atmosphere. The food was ok. By no means excellent. We were not impressed. Once again, it was an ok experience. We are local. This restaurant was not up to par.
The first thing we were served were a beet drink. It needed a spoon. The overstuffed chair even with the pillow were not comfortable
While this has been a traditional favorite, tonight Cafe Lucia came up a little short. This was mainly due to the wait staff, they just did not seem to quite know what and how to do for acceptable service. The food remains good but I may now recommend with a margin of reservations.
Food was incredible!! Wish we lived closer, would like to try so many things on the menu.
I'm reluctant to post this as it's a secret spot, known mostly by the locals. But the sea bass is the best in town, the staff is friendly, and it's a nice relaxed place, even on a crazy Healdsburg weekend.
