Cafe L'Europe - St Armand's Ratings and Reviews
Whenever I make a reservation through Open Table for this restaurant I always request a particular waiter. When we arrive the hostess never seems to have that information or it appears that she does not. We thoroughly enjoy the food, presentation and the service. It is our "special" dinner place.
Several family members celebrated my mom's 90th birthday at L'Europe. We could not have had better dinners, ambiance or service. They treated her like a queen, suggesting a special cocktail, bringing her a beautiful dessert and the pianist played a request of her favorite song, "New York, New York."
Thank you for making her 90th so memorable.
We go to Sarasota Florida every year and while there go to some of our favorite restaurants. This year one of those restaurants turned out to be a downer and so we decided to try out some new spots. L'Europe is right on Armand's Circle on Longboat Key. It looked charming and so we decided to try it.
What a find! There are new owners, Ron Milton and Joe Balzano, and they have put a lot into making L'Europe a first class romantic and food adventure. We went there two nights (in a row) and found the food and the experience the best of all of the restaurants we have dined at in Sarasota.
Amandah delighted us with her piano skills and singing of our favorite songs (she gives you a song menu for requests that is incredibly long). Our waiters, Jason and Carlos, were very eager to please and did a marvelous job with the Crepe Suzette desert that each of them prepared tableside for us. The food was marvelous. I love Dover Sole and theirs is just perfect. Finally, Ron, the owner, visited our table both nights and sat with us the second night to ask us what we liked and didn't like about the restaurant. He is clearly motivated to make L'Europe the best dining experience in Sarasota, and he is well on his way to achieving just that.
Everyone should give them a try. You will love the romantic ambience, the friendly welcome, the beautiful bar, the food and drinks, and the entire experience.
We hadn't dined at Cafe L' Europe for a long time and due to the sudden chilly fall day we sought out its warm and cozy atmosphere. Even though I trusted their wine list would have some good selections I brought a 2013 Ridge Zinfandel Pozzo Vineyard for good measure ($25.00 corkage). Our waiter was a very nice young man who immediately offered to open our bottle. He also offered to decant it which I declined simply because I didn't think it would be worth the effort in this case. Anyway, we were delighted with our meals-my wife enjoyed the mushroom ravioli topped with beef short rib and I loved the crispy duck, comparing it favorably to the same signature dish offered at Euphemia Haye on Longboat Key. For starters she had a lovely chicken soup and I had the french onion which was excellent. We shared an order of escargot which also was very good. Our service was great--not rushed but attentive. Overall it was a lovely dining experience.
Our friends have their favorite seafood lunch (large helping of shrimp and lobster) that they look forward to when they visit. The meal is beautifully presented (a work of art on the plate) with tasty veggies (asparagus, hearts of palm) and fruit. Service is excellent. The front of the restaurant allows "people watching" as shoppers parade past. Depending on the timing, one can have a quiet chat but sometimes there are loud folks at the nearby tables.
We love dining at Cafe L’Europe and selected it to celebrate our anniversary. Marianna, our server, was the perfect combination of professional, attentive and engaging. We had the house salad which was crisp and perfectly chilled. For our main courses we chose the Dover Sole and Grouper. The portions were ample and the fish were tender and flavorful. Dessert was the flourless chocolate cake - decadently delicious.
The restaurant has a formal design and the staff is top notch. We observed other servers and they seemed to be as exceptional as our server, Marianna. On every level it was an exceptional experience.
Our food was excellent, served at a nice pace. Our server, Weston was very friendly and attentive. It was our anniversary and they sat us in a great table and brought out a complimentary desert with Happy Anniversary written on the plate. Our evening and service was perfect.
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner. We ordered a bottle of wine, appetizers, and entrees so it was pricey but we knew it would be in advance. When making reservations I didn't mention our anniversary but the waitress asked us about it first thing. Hence we received a complementary slice of decadent chocholate cake to finish our meal!
A fantastic choice on St. Armand's Circle! The onion soup served 'in the onion' is a favorite of mine, but the special seafood bisque was amazing!
For your entree the duck is wonderful, cooked perfectly with a delicious sauce. This is Grouper country and you can't go wrong with this tasty fish here, it's just delicious in the warm crust. The ambiance is great with a wonderful singer at the piano, taking requests and keeping the room lively. The service is excellent, our waiter thought we might like a different wine he thought was good with the duck, so he just brought a taste over! You can't go wrong here, this is a place we come to again and again.
A historic, treasured gem of a restaurant on St. Armand's Circle, since 1973.
They are offering a Prix-Fixe Dinner for two, including a bottle of wine, for $69.95. Perfect for a date night or a celebration!
Their staff is attentive and accommodating for allergies/diet restrictions.
All of our appetizers, entrees and desserts were outstanding!
One of our favorite places for special occasions in Sarasota!
We were catching up with friends. The waiter would bust in the not just the middle of a story but the middle of the sentence. It ruined a lot of good moments. The assistant servers did the same. It appears to be their norm. And they were not busy because of heavy rain so they had time to wait for a pause in the sentence. The desert menu sounds fabulous. Would like to go back to try various items, but won't. I wanted to say to the waiter "Didn't your mama teach you not to interrupt?"
All of our food and beverage choices were superb. The lobster bisque was fragrant, well balanced and a spoon of soup to savor after each taste. The oysters Rockefeller were sublime. So many flavors so well married. For dinner we enjoyed the catch of the day sea bass, perfectly prepared and melt in your mouth delicious . The grouper with rissoto was outstanding. All flavors well combined and memorable. Plated presentation was elegant. From the first step in the door we were made to feel welcomed and special. Our server Brady was a great dining advisor for the restaurant and very pleasant. We recommend this restaurant and will return.
My wife and I discovered this elegant restaurant some years ago. We have been there numerous times. (There is also one in Palm Beach which is equally matched) The food, wine, service and ambiance are outstanding. We belong to several country clubs and consequently are accustomed to excellence in our dinning experiences. When we visit this outstanding location, we feel as though we are at another one of our clubs. Exceptional food, excellent service and the entertainment is always tasteful. The pianist who played in the dinning room was exceptional. If you are interested in a high quality dinning experience, I can personally recommend Café L'Europe in St. Armand's.
