Perfect in every way. Upon arrival the hostess had the note that it was our anniversary and wished us a happy one. I JS requested outdoor seating and they honored it by seating on at one of three tables on their porch. The food was incredible. We had escargot which was bathed in butter garlic and cheese, duck (extra crispy) and rack of lamb. We did not order dessert because we were full, but the waiter brought out a plate with a slice of flourless chocolate cake, and Happy Anniversary written In chocolate syrup. It was complimentary and it was the most delicious cake. Thank you for a memorable evening. We will be sure to return.
I had set my expectations way too high with this restaurant..it seems. I picked Café L'Europe to celebrate our anniversary. I had been there only once before, probably 9 or 10 years ago and I remember having a memorable dinner. I had read recent reviews and I was confident that this was an excellent choice.
However, I felt disappointed when I left this place. I had read that there was live music (Piano) and I had asked for my table to be in that room when I made the reservation. Unfortunately there was no one playing the piano on that Saturday night.
We asked for the Chateaubriand for two. The beef itself was one of the best I have tried, the serving tableside is really cool, as gourmet and fancy as you can get. Unfortunately it is also very impractical. There was an AC vent right on top of us and by the time the server finished serving all the vegetables, potatoes etc, everything had already lost too much temperature. I am not sure if there is a solution for this, maybe the cart needs plate warmers or something, but all of the fanciness is gone if you are left with cold food, and this was the case. Unlike other reviews, we were not offered a complementary desert. Not that we would have a desire for dessert, the portions were perfect and we probably would just have tried it. But as a gesture, and in this kind of establishment is common and appreciated by guests. Wine selection was very good.
All in all, I think I just probably had bad luck. Maybe I will give it a try in the future again...but at $200 + tip, I have to think about it twice :-)
In a word underwhelmed. We have been to Cafe L'Europe many times over the past 30 years. The table was nice at with a window view. The servers seemed rushed and not very attentive even though the restaurant did not seem to be full. The patrons next to us were very loud, which I know that the restaurant has no control over. That just added to our disappointing experience. The food was just ok, nothing was outstanding. We had escargot to start, I had veal piccata and my husband had the duck. The duck was the better choice. The wine selection, at least for what we drink (white, italian), seems very limited. The waiter only came back once to refill glasses, we had to pour ourselves. That is fine but the reason we go out to a nicer restaurant is for the service and the ambience. I know in light of COVID and such, things are different but the restaurant is missing the atmosphere of comfortable pampering that it used to have.
Wife has been dying to get to St Armands since moving here and Cafe L’Europe certainly didn’t disappoint. What a great ambiance, service with Michael was outstanding and OMG the French Onion soup was amazing. Definitely going back. Keep up the great experience
First class culinary experience in every way.
Celebrated my daughters birthday with our family. Perfect dinner. We especially loved the chateau briand, short ribs and the bananas foster. We can never dine there without the bananas foster!
I started with a Basil Pink Grapefruit Tini, which is made from Bombay Sapphire, Elderflower Liqueur, fresh basil & grapefruit zest. Tasty.
As appetizer I had the French Onion Soup Gratinée. Cafe L’Europe’s take on this French restaurant staple is not only delicious, it’s so unique. The soup is served I a large hollowed out Vidallia onion. The presentation was unexpected and fun.
As my entree I had the Liver l'Europe, which is Sautéed veal liver, applewood smoked bacon, caramelized onions & mashed potato. We just moved to the Bradenton/Sarasota area and prior to relocating, I searched for restaurants serving calf’s liver. This was a great find, and is served the same as the best versions I’d had in London. Superb.
Everything was wonderful! Drinks were delicious! Oysters were so good. Our server recommended the duck, and it was phenomenal! Highly suggest the Almond Joy dessert drink- oh my! Will definitely be coming back.
Thank you for the 5 stars! Glad you enjoyed everything! We look forward to serving you again soon! Persefoni N. General Manager
Wonderful ambience, excellent service and well prepared food; I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Food was excellent, service was excellent. It was warm in the restaurant and a local at the bar was very loud complaining about tourist in the water with red tide.
Great food. Service is impeccable. Beautiful room.
We had a reservation, and were greeted and seated immediately. The service was very slow. The food was slow coming, and just okay. Not what I would expect for the price.
This was our first visit to Cafe L'Europe. The wait staff was fair although he got better the longer we were there. I gave him a pass since they probably are short staffed because of the whole staff shortage issue in our area. We had to ask but we ordered the 2021 Summer Special for $45 per person which included salad, main course (choice of 5 entrees) and dessert (choice of 2) which I thought was a good deal. Their regular menu is a bit pricey, however, it's very good but not OMG delicious.
We love your place and George is the best, very attentive and knowledgeable about food and wines, class act and very professional, we love your Duck, Milanese and other dishes, if we r in Sarasota Cafe Le’Europe it’s a must for us
Had an amazing lunch earlier in week and decided to return for dinner. It was good but not great. I expected more. Service was good, food came out too fast, (10 min) couldn’t even enjoy my wine or conversations.
Needles to say, ive dined at the one in Palm Beach and there is no comparison.
Good food, good service overpriced for quality not wowed
Delicious and excellent service just a bit pricey!!
An excellent meal, and an excellent experience.
Special thanks to the waitstaff, who are exceptional.
Love this St. Armands classic! Wonderful food and service.
Very friendly with comfortable atmosphere
Exceptional food and service! Alex was a wonderful waiter, too.
Food was fine and the restaurant was pretty but the choice of hip hop type music was odd and the service was extremely slow. We were one of two tables in the whole restaurant and were there for 2 hours and didn't even get dessert. We wanted it but it took so long for service that we ran out of time.
Bland food. Bad wine list
The menu has become very predictable. (Boring) The server and manager do a great job trying to accommodate requests, but meal was just not great for the price. Other establishments offer similar menus, albeit with greater diversity, for a lower price.
We were seated under the air conditioner which dripped constantly.
Service was poor.
We only dined in the bar but was lovely. Service was great bartender Sam was fantastic! We prefer not to look at nude women on the wall as there are children up there waiting with family for tables. We only ordered a pizza and drinks. We will come back for dinner just nude photos were offensive. Beautiful place.
We have the potato crusted grouper for all our special occasions. Today, while still good, it was not the entrée we have come to expect. The potato crust was less appealing than usual, there was more potato than grouper and it was a little salty. As I said, still good, but not what we are used to being served.
Great service & polite staff. Food was good overall.
Great meal and great service!!
Excellent food and service! Will definitely return!
I’ve been eating at this restaurant since the 80’s. Everything about the meal was excellent. Just wish they would have taken notice of the fact that I told them that it was our 25th Anniversary and done something simple and elegant for dessert. Pretty big miss. Our waiter was top notch.
I am glad you enjoyed everything and I am so sorry they missed your Anniversary dessert! I will speak with our hostess and floor manager, they are usually great communicating these notes to servers. Sorry we dropped the ball. Please ask for Matthew next time you make a reservation, we will make sure not to drop the ball again! Best, Persefoni N, General Manager
Very yummy, great service.
Thank you for the awesome 5 star review! Hope you will dine with us again soon! Best, Persefoni N. General Manager
Wonderful dining experience! Food was amazing! Service was fantastic!
We went to celebrate our 53rd anniversary, and got the Chateau Briand. Best we have ever had. Served properly (carved at the table expertly!) and they gave us a nice free dessert for the occasion. Will definitely go back!
Thank you for the awesome 5 star review! Hope you will dine with us again soon! Best, Persefoni N. General Manager
-Took a while to get our appetizers, & lobster bisque ended up being served luke warm.
-Tried to get a hold of the waiter, couldn’t, and started to get annoyed until I saw him behind the bar mixing drinks. That solved the missing waiter mystery. Can’t expect good service when the waiters have to double duty as a bartender.
-I forgot to order a side, asked the waiter if it is too late to add it and have it come out with the entrees, he said “no, if anything it will come out only like 1-2 mins after your entrees”….that was a lie. I don’t blame the waiter, the chefs failed on that one. But then again, the side might have been ready…but he was busy mixing drinks.
-Over priced for the quality of the food. The filet mignon was delicious, the lamb chops were good as well but not worth the $50 price tag. They cut the lamb chops so thin that each chop was 1 bite. $50 for 4 bites of lamb chops is just boggling to me.
-Asked the host to inform my waiter that I would no longer be needing the side since everyone finished eating and we were waiting for the check. They did apologize.
-The staff was kind.
-Food wasn’t bad, but not delicious enough to be worth it’s price tag.
I am sorry your dining experience was not top notch or up to your standard. Unfortunately that day we had a couple of employees out ill, we don't permit sick employees to come to work sick. Not an excuse, just the truth. So yes, your waiter doubled as bartender and server. Sorry you forgot to order your side and sorry someone on our end dropped the ball to get it to you after the fact.
The soup came out Luke warm. Our server was pretty good, especially taking account our toddler. The wedge salad was amazing and my husband said he loved his potato crusted grouper.
Glad you loved your entrees, sorry about the soup. Hope you will give us another try! Persefoni N. General Manager
Excellent service, beautiful atmosphere. Our dinner was perfect from start to finish and our server and staff were outstanding
Thank you so much for the great review! Please dine with us again soon! Best, Persefoni N. General Manager
We enjoyed our lunch experience very much
Looking forward to our next visit
We are in town for our honeymoon a year later. Waiter was amazing which is why I didn’t care they forgot about truffle fries. Everyone is human right. We are on vacation and we had nothing but time. Thank for an amazing night!
Part of the past but still great!
Food and service was excellent.
Very nice dining experience overall, but I found the crab cake mushy and bland. Seemed like it came frozen then was deep fried, not made in the kitchen with fresh crabmeat. But everything else was great, especially the service.
