While a couple of plates stood out (zucchini bread and pancakes), most of the food was just okay. Service was incredibly slow, which really made it difficulty to justify the $25 per person for "unlimited" plate options. We ordered several plates we did not receive and our server had a touch time keeping track of them. Tired of reordering the same dish to no avail, we eventually gave up and left. The ambiance is gorgeous and I have heard wonderful things about this place so I was definitely disappointed. Our server did provide us with complimentary passes to return for 1 meal give how backed up the kitchen was but I'm not sure how keen I would be on returning. Perhaps we were there on an off day? I supposed even restaurants have those?

Good menu and wine list - nice service but there was no recognition of the reason for the visit which as noted on the open table reservation was to celebrate a birthday. Bit of a let down.

Been to Cafe Josie for the dinner experience and loved it, so came back for brunch. The brunch menu was just as good as the dinner menu. Love the idea of unlimited tasting to get to try different flavors at a reasonable price. Will be back again

Josie's was recommended to us by a friend so I decided to take my husband there for his birthday dinner. We were both very please with the unique atmosphere and food selections. They also have 1/2 price bottles of wine every Wednesday! We enjoyed the wait staff and were very pleased with the wine recommendation. Will definitely go there again!

My wife and I had an outstanding experience all around! Food was full on gourmet without top-tier pricing. Nice wine selection along with a respectable cocktail list. Love the unlimited tasting idea, which is a great value whether you eat a lot or not. Our server Ashley was an absolute delight. First time there, and we'll DEFINITELY be back, bringing others next time.

There weren’t a lot of nut free options and the waitress did not alert us of what dishes I couldn’t eat. Basically, I ended up not being able to eat half of the prix fixe menu, which was a bummer.

The "Café Josie Experience" is their standard for weekend nights. It's an opportunity to try a large number of varied dishes for a fixed price. Think of all the times you've said "I wish I could try one of everything." At Café Josie, you can! Each plate was unique, from fried Brussels Sprouts (not to be missed) to scallops, smoked meatloaf and a spicy squash soup that was one of two specials of the night. My husband and I shared each plate. I suggest ordering about six and then adding on as you assess your appetite. We sat outside which was pleasant in March. Staff was attentive without being overbearing and the plates came out in no particular order. Each one was a delightful surprise!

We ordered our drinks which took almost until the end of the meal to get and we kept feeling like everyone else was getting service before us. Our server was fine but did not do anything to help the situation of the bar not making our drinks. We saw him make literally three drink orders before ours of people just at the bar that were seated after us. Just a stark contrast from our first time there which was amazing! Very bummed as I loved this spot but that was just ridiculous and a waste of money for not so great of service.

Perfect cute brunch spot for my friend and I to relax and catch up on a Sunday. Love the unlimited tapas sized plate concept! Definitely a little more pricey than a regular brunch but worth it to treat yourself once in a while

We did The Experience, the special chef's tasting menu, for $45/person. It was so worth it. We tried almost all the dishes available, and we loved many of them. The food was interesting and well-prepared, and the waitress really took us under her wing and made recommendations about how to go about the experience so that we could pace ourselves, etc. It would be fun to go back with more people to allow for trying more dishes, and then getting seconds of our favorites. The salmon was exceptionally delicious, and there were different elements throughout the meal that were delightful - the beet-potato rosti that accompanied the brisket, the oysters, the grilled romaine salad, etc. There were a couple of dishes with sauces that were a little sweeter than my husband and I prefer (we are more hot-spicy fans), but that was only a couple. A really lovely evening.

The tasting menu was superb! Each dish was delicious and the variety was a treat. This is a hidden treasure, food-wise. The space could use a little refresh, and it isn't helped by close proximity to other "hot" restaurants, but the food was delicious and the service attentive. My compliments to the chef!

Frankly, I'm not a fan of small plate dining or sharing food at a restaurant. I prefer to order the meal I want, have it served, and eat it. But I find myself coming back to Cafe Jose for "The Experience", which provides unlimited small plates from a fairly lengthy menu of protein and vegetables that are expected to be shared. I suspect that Cafe Josie overcomes my bias against their concept in two ways. First the food is really good. The kitchen projects the image of caring about both the quality and presentation of the food. Second, the small plates come out as they are ready. Our table of three started with five small plates. They were served over a five to seven minute period in three batches, two, two and one. Quality was likely enhanced by not holding the early ones in the kitchen and it was a nice pace for eating and conversation.

Outstanding chef's menu with unusual fixed price selection--essentially, all you can eat. Waitress was not so good. She was new, but she needs more training in all aspects of service.

There were 4 of us and we all had The Experience! It was great because we were basically able to try everything on the menu. The service was spot on and all of the dishes were yummy and exciting. I really enjoyed the Chicken Biscuit! So cute and tasty. I felt like we all had a great meal at a great value. The Experience is a very creative idea!

Our group loved Cafe Josie! The service was impeccable and "The Experience" was an enormous hit with my guests! The beauty of a tasting menu with a group of 7 was the perfect way to kick off our trip.
The timing of all the courses was wonderful, and left plenty of time to digest and appreciate the process. Among our favorites were the brussel sprouts, the fried oysters (those greens!), the kale and apples, and the brisket.
I highly recommend this location and would love to return for their Sunday brunch.

We went to Cafe Josie as a part of our anniversary weekend and loved it! It was quaint and intimate. The food was fabulous! The concept was fun and a great way to sample the menu. Our only complaint was how small the plates were. We still got full 😉 We will go again for sure.

The experience menu was amazing. Loved the ability to be able to pick and choose anything we wanted to eat at a fix price. The service was great, the ambiance was great. My only desire is for the parking situation to improve. There isn't a lot of parking reserved for the restaurant so I had to drive around for sometime before finding street parking

Excellent find! We came for the brunch prix fixe "experience", and it exceeded our expectations. The food was inventive, beautifully presented, and delicious! The small plates allowed us to have a few bites of everything, before going backand ordering seconds of our favorites. Next time I am in Austin I will definitely be back.
