So while this visit was off to a rocky start - there was a delay in getting our table although the time was past our reserved schedule - the experience was worth the extra wait. The service once we were seated was impeccable and the food, both the variety and quality, was outstanding. We chose the $45 experience with a taste of so many options and the endless servings that proved to not only be delicious but interesting as well. Our favorite was the bisque, not sure if it was for that night only or a daily staple, not to downplay any of the other delightful dishes, until we had the crème brulee for desert which was the absolute best I have ever tasted anywhere, including in France. I heartily recommend the wonderful restaurant for both the quality of the service, the ambience of what was once a carriage house, and the delicious meal that we had. Kudos.

Cafe Josie is my favorite restaurant in Austin. Has been since it opened. The Experience is a delicious way to dine and share the amazing flavors. The bacon onion jam on the mac and cheese is so good! The Brussel sprouts are the best in Austin.

When we first arrived and realized it was a tasting menu rather than a traditional menu, we were a little unsure. Our waiter explained how everything worked and then the different dishes began arriving. Each plate was very tasty and it was a fun experience to have a variety of tastes. We are looking forward to going back soon.

Great experience for our family of six. We loved the fried oysters as well as the Gouda shells with bacon onion jam. Only suggest a better Cabernet Sauvignon selection. Wine options were however acceptable. We had a wonderful Spanish Tempranillo. Would highly recommend this restaurant to all.

Finally tried The Experience menu, tastings of lots of things. While it is pricey for me because I just can’t eat that much in one sitting, the food is wonderful, creative, beautifully prepared and presented. Overall, a wonderful experience. I wish I could have had dessert but didn’t make it that far.

This is my favorite restaurant in Austin. “The Experience” is a changing menu of tapas for a single total price - all delicious bites!

Perhaps the best meal you can buy in Austin. It's not cheap, I think $45 pp, but it's all you can eat from their amazing tapas menu. There's, probably 10-15 items to choose from. The thing that just astounds me is how good absolutely everything is on the menu. My wife and I were picking best and "worst" tapas as we went along, but again, our "worst" was still super flavorful and delicious.

The only negative I can say is that I think they could work on the interior decorating a bit. We were in the closed in porch area and the walls were pretty much blank. If they'd pop a little art on the walls, I think it would do wonders.

Enjoy!

Enjoyed. This is our 2nd time there. Really enjoy the tasting menu. Really no atmosphere, but the food helps make up for that. Pretty sure everyone enjoyed their drinks. Good for a low key dinner.

We enjoy this restaurant but I phoned ahead to let them know it was for a birthday and they never said a word to us about the birthday and they didn’t do anything to acknowledge. The restaurant was 1/4 full if that but our server kept rushing us to bring the next course even though we kept asking to slow things down. Food is excellent. We will return but please allow your clients to take their time and not be interrupted over and over.

This is a favorite place for me. Great food with an innovative tasting menu that lets you try all kinds of things — without leaving hungry or broke. It is also quiet enough to be able to hear the others at your table:-)

Our second time here and plan to return again and again. Had a delicious gumbo and coq au vin unlike any other we’ve ever had. It was the chef’s special and it was fabulous. Half price bottles of wine on Tuesdays is wonderful, too!

This was our first Brunch Experience, and it lived up to the billing! A great selection of about 15 or so items, and all you can eat. We gorged. But this is no buffet food ... no, no. This is haute cuisine made with humanely raised meats and locally sourced ingredients. The grilled shrimp & grits was awesome. The fried chicken and mashed potatoes were great. The pigs in a blanket was divine. The bok choy was a surprise - a delightfully original presentation and it went very well with the other brunch items! We'll keep going back again and again!

The Brunch "Experience" is not to be missed! See the online menu and choose from 12-15 tapas style plates. As many as you like for one price. Excellent food. Make reservations as they will be full. Very noisy, but worth it.

Recommended by a friend who did not steer us wrong. The cuisine was excellent, and the prix fixe menu plan was perfect. Being able to re-order favorite dishes in addition to getting a wide variety let us cast a wide net and have tasty bits of dishes we wouldn't likely order as a whole meal. All in all, a great experience. Will be back!!

Went here for anniversary dinner and The Experience menu was so tasty and creative in addition to being fun getting a few tastes of so many different dishes. It was also very quiet, hard to find in Austin now. It was Monday evening though so maybe not as quiet on weekends. But we loved it and would definitely recommend.

Wow. It was their first time doing brunch and I had heard good things. A friend and I had about 15? plates. Too me, they're too tiny even for tapas. I enjoyed all the plates except the baby bok choy and fried rice. That was an awful way to end such a pleasant meal. But everything else was great, the fried chicken, the pancakes, the pumpkin roll, mimosas etc. We managed to sit next to a table of boisterous people so it was a bit difficult to hear but aside from that, I'll be back again!

A friend who lives here recommended this restaurant. We liked it so much that we plan to make it a weekly event while we’re in town for 2 months. Pulled pork special was fabulous and a beautiful Burgundy Pinot noir. Loved the jazz duo but the noise level grew as dinner hour rolled around and I doubt anyone really heard them. Overall, we liked every aspect of this charming and cozy restaurant. Great food, great wait staff, soft lighting. And, half price wine on Tuesday is always a treat.
