Perfect cute brunch spot for my friend and I to relax and catch up on a Sunday. Love the unlimited tapas sized plate concept! Definitely a little more pricey than a regular brunch but worth it to treat yourself once in a while
We did The Experience, the special chef's tasting menu, for $45/person. It was so worth it. We tried almost all the dishes available, and we loved many of them. The food was interesting and well-prepared, and the waitress really took us under her wing and made recommendations about how to go about the experience so that we could pace ourselves, etc. It would be fun to go back with more people to allow for trying more dishes, and then getting seconds of our favorites. The salmon was exceptionally delicious, and there were different elements throughout the meal that were delightful - the beet-potato rosti that accompanied the brisket, the oysters, the grilled romaine salad, etc. There were a couple of dishes with sauces that were a little sweeter than my husband and I prefer (we are more hot-spicy fans), but that was only a couple. A really lovely evening.
Every single dish was fantastic, stop-talking-in-wordless-reverie good. Unbelievable value for all you can eat tasting menu at only $45. Will be back asap!
The tasting menu was superb! Each dish was delicious and the variety was a treat. This is a hidden treasure, food-wise. The space could use a little refresh, and it isn't helped by close proximity to other "hot" restaurants, but the food was delicious and the service attentive. My compliments to the chef!
Food was great, but portions are really small. Ambiance is awesome, very European plaza-like feel.
Frankly, I'm not a fan of small plate dining or sharing food at a restaurant. I prefer to order the meal I want, have it served, and eat it. But I find myself coming back to Cafe Jose for "The Experience", which provides unlimited small plates from a fairly lengthy menu of protein and vegetables that are expected to be shared. I suspect that Cafe Josie overcomes my bias against their concept in two ways. First the food is really good. The kitchen projects the image of caring about both the quality and presentation of the food. Second, the small plates come out as they are ready. Our table of three started with five small plates. They were served over a five to seven minute period in three batches, two, two and one. Quality was likely enhanced by not holding the early ones in the kitchen and it was a nice pace for eating and conversation.
Outstanding chef's menu with unusual fixed price selection--essentially, all you can eat. Waitress was not so good. She was new, but she needs more training in all aspects of service.
Amazing meal, flavors and experience. An all you can experience tasting menu - brilliant idea. Many wins across the menu and great service in a comfortable environment to boot.
Great meal. We had the all inclusive fixed price option. Everything was outstanding as well as attentive service. Great value for the money. No limits within reason for seconds!!! Desserts were yummy also. Coming back soon. Thanks
We had a wonderful experience at Cafe Josie- we'll definitely be back!
Wonderful small plates. All were spectacular. Service was delightful (we had trainee Natalie). Only odd downside: the bread was utterly mismatched with the really terrific food.
We were there on a weekend night when they had the Unlimited Chef's Tasting Menu. The variety of the food was incredible. The 4 of us could not agree which item was the best... Our server (Mallory) was excellent and friendly. Thank y'all!
There were 4 of us and we all had The Experience! It was great because we were basically able to try everything on the menu. The service was spot on and all of the dishes were yummy and exciting. I really enjoyed the Chicken Biscuit! So cute and tasty. I felt like we all had a great meal at a great value. The Experience is a very creative idea!
Just FYI - on weekends it is “experience only” for $45.
The variety and quality of food is the finest in Austin. Service is impeccable. We will be back often.
Our group loved Cafe Josie! The service was impeccable and "The Experience" was an enormous hit with my guests! The beauty of a tasting menu with a group of 7 was the perfect way to kick off our trip.
The timing of all the courses was wonderful, and left plenty of time to digest and appreciate the process. Among our favorites were the brussel sprouts, the fried oysters (those greens!), the kale and apples, and the brisket.
I highly recommend this location and would love to return for their Sunday brunch.
Good service, good food.
Love their brunch! Such a unique concept of fixed price, all you can eat, small plates. Just let it coming!! Great house made sodas. The live music was perfect - not too loud and the cowboys that sang it were adorable!!!!
We went to Cafe Josie as a part of our anniversary weekend and loved it! It was quaint and intimate. The food was fabulous! The concept was fun and a great way to sample the menu. Our only complaint was how small the plates were. We still got full 😉 We will go again for sure.
Great experience! And so different from your regular night out. We order the small plates as family style and get to taste more of each delicious creation.
Took my sister and her husband as they were visiting for the weekend and they loved it! Definitely my favorite place in Austin. We had four orders of the shells and cheese.
Good food, reasonable price, good service, will be back. The tasting menu we got for 45$ could cost twice that at other tasting menu restaurants. I think we had 11 courses.
The experience menu was amazing. Loved the ability to be able to pick and choose anything we wanted to eat at a fix price. The service was great, the ambiance was great. My only desire is for the parking situation to improve. There isn't a lot of parking reserved for the restaurant so I had to drive around for sometime before finding street parking
Case Jose is remarkable both for dinner and brunch, - the atmosphere, service, and in particular the amazing cuisine, make a delightful experience to meet friends, or for a date.
Cafe Josie is so awesome. I've been twice -- once for the dinner experience on a date (super romantic) and once for the Sunday brunch experience with friends. The food, atmosphere and service is all amazing.
Excellent find! We came for the brunch prix fixe "experience", and it exceeded our expectations. The food was inventive, beautifully presented, and delicious! The small plates allowed us to have a few bites of everything, before going backand ordering seconds of our favorites. Next time I am in Austin I will definitely be back.
Our second time for brunch and it was as wonderful as the first time. Every dish we had was delicious; by far shrimp and grits take the top spot. I want to give Cody a shoutout; for being awesome and doing it right. Would definitely be going back.
The Experience is always great! You get to try different dishes, and for small plates they are a pretty decent sized portions. Great drink selection as well.
Excellent experience I will go back again the food was amazing and very good service!!
Really cool spot. A bit confused when we got there at 630 for a predrinn at how empty it was, but once we met the bartender & had his creative drinks, we were sold. By 8pm the place was full, and did not disappoint. We loved all of our dishes and the all you can eat made us feel a bit like ballers ordering everything on the menu. Will be a new staple a lot for sure with friends in town!
It was Saturday, so we had the fixed-price 'Experience' . Food was great - very creative recipes. Tried a new wine on the recommendation of our waiter, and it was excellent. Service was prompt and mostly unobtrusive. Second time at Josie - won't be the last.
We had the best time at Cafe Josie! Our server was knowledgeable of menu, and encouraged us to try the best items on the menu. I loved the Experience menu. We will be back!
When we made our reservations we didn't know that there was a fixed menu for a fixed price on Friday and Saturday nights. The menu was your choice of tapas, as many as you wanted for one fixed price. The food was excellent. It was a fun interactive way to eat dinner. We had 4 at our table, so we tried a variety of different plates. We will be going again.
Best food on W 6th and maybe the best happy hour in town
Had dinner with a friend. We ordered 9 different tapas dishes. All were different taste treats and really well prepared—no disappointments. Service was excellent. Recommend for those would like to try something off the beaten path and different.
Loved loved loved! Will absolutely be back for “The Experience”. Such a great value and could not have been more pleased with the food. Brussel Sprouts are the BEST!
'The Experience' is definitely just that, and so worth it! We went for happy hour and enjoyed tasting almost the full menu. The food is prepared brilliantly and each dish has just the right sauce, seasoning, or accompaniment to make them perfect. The Brussels sprouts are a favorite of the family, but many other dishes are also superb! The brisket and the meatloaf were divine; the scallops and salmon delicious; the kale salad and goat cheese special were outstanding. And you must top all of that off with the crème brulee -- some of the best in town!
Beyond the food, the service is impeccable. We had Vincent, and he did everything to make sure our Experience was the best. Both professional and personable!
This is without a doubt our favorite place in Austin to dine!
This is such a good place. It's cozy and it is filled with people. The food is fabulous, each plate crafted to precision. The sauces hadn't split at all!
We enjoyed The Experience - and it was a great experience.
The food was excellent and the service superb - great timing when serving all of the different items we ordered. We will return soon.
