Cafe Josie is just excellent. We did the “experience” and the choices were broad and every course was interesting and thoughtfully prepared. The service was excellent. Unlike many many places in Austin the noise level is low which is a welcome change of pace. Highly recommend.

Party of four and all of us were first time Sunday Brunchr's at Cafe Josie. Our server was knowledgable, friendly and guided us in our exploration of the brunch menu. We enjoyed a very tasty & leisurely 2-hour brunch. Our friends are from Houston and Dallas and both raved about the brunch and are planning their next visit with brunch included.

We always enjoy our experience here. The variety in the menu items makes for a creative and interesting meal experience. The shrimp were the talk of the night- just the right amount of crunchy, salty, sweet, and spicy.

They worked with our allergy issues but we were surprised by the prix fixe menu ($45 per Person) only option on Friday and Saturday nights. Food was good. Interesting compositions. It was an unlimited menu, but still overpriced for the common appetite.
I appreciate the good service, but would not go there again.

I’m probably going to be one of many thousands to say this place is amazing! My hubby and I had our 12th anniversary dinner there and I couldn’t have been more pleased. And now every other meal I have or cook will ever compare :(

It’s been a while since we ate at Cafe Josie and it was amazing! With 13 small plates to choose from, I think we tried everything - crudo, Brussels sprouts in a balsamic vinaigrette, fried oysters, short ribs, meatloaf, salmon, shrimp, and I can’t remember them all. The flavors all worked together and the staff incredibly friendly and helpful. We went with another couple to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we will be going back very soon.

Evening at Cafe Josie was incredible! Fri-Sat is the Chef's tasting menu -- $45 per plate -- you can choose from ~20 different options, even re-ordering the same dish multiple times if desired. They bring the dishes out in phases, tapas/small-plates style. Everything we had tasted amazing. With drinks and dessert (also delicious) we spent ~$150 for two people and felt it was absolutely worth it. We left feeling filled from great food served by delightful and professional staff. The cocktails were great too! Would go again and highly recommend!

Great experience. The noise, however, is a problem. Could use some soundproofing/acoustic work..

This has to be my favorite restaurant in Austin. The experience is so unique and the food is always amazing. To top it off, we’ve never had bad service here. The waitstaff is knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. 10/10 in my book.

Seriously great experience, as always. Every time we come back we wonder why we don't come back more often. Food, drinks, service - all great as it has been every time.
For an all you can eat menu of really good food, this place is a great value.

Great spot for leisurely and yummy brunch. Great to keep ordering small plates freshly prepared rather than a "who knows how long it's been sitting" standard buffet brunch. Friendly staff. Great cosy restaurant.

Mary was very attentive without being obtrusive. We were celebrating our 45th anniversary and, when we didn't find the final dessert ending to our brunch, Mary brought out a complimentary cheesecake from the chef's dinner menu, with a lit candle! We are looking forward to taking our granddaughter for a special meal soon.

Cafe Josie was a standout of our Austin trip (which is truly saying a lot)! Everything from the ambiance (cozy but also clean and classic) to the service (just present enough) to the food (YUMMM) was wonderful. The value is really impressive, especially on Monday night when it's Happy Hour all night and The Experience is only $35. Definitely try to go with at least 4 people, it's tapas style ("Texas size tapas" as our server said, hah) and you'll want to try as many things as possible. Can't wait to return when we're back in Austin!

By far the worst dining experience I’ve had in Austin. We only made it half way through the menu before the food stopped arriving. After waiting 30 minutes without any response from our server (except attitude) we had to get the check so we could relieve our babysitter. This was a complete waste of $200 and we will not be returning.

We went to celebrate our daughter-in-law’s graduation from her Master’s program. Cafe Josie never disappoints. Everyone had a wonderful meal doing “The Experience”. There was not one item that was merely “meh”. Everything was exceptional. One of our favorite Austin special occasion restaurants.

This is our favorite brunch in Austin right now. The unlimited chef tasting menu beats a buffet. Every dish comes out freshly prepared. We found the service attentive and friendly. The birthday card on our reserved table made for a nice, thoughtful touch.

The unlimited small plates brunch was delicious. Each one was tasty in it’s own way. The brussel sprouts and rocky road pancakes were my favorite. For the price it was worth it! Unfortunately, the serving timing is off. Each of got one of our small plates at a time. Sometimes we each had one, sometimes only one of us had one. We spent LOTS of time waiting between plates. Unlike a tapas place that keeps the table eating at a steady pace as things are done. It felt disjointed and slow. The food was spectacular, so we’ll be back, but the timing is an issue to be sure.

Excellent experience at Cafe Josie! It was an old haunt that we'd lost track of and at which we had not dined in many years. Selected The Experience and got to taste almost everything on the menu. Great choice! The food was delivered in measured amounts for our four-top and with impeccable timing. There was nothing we didn't like, and a couple of items, like the ribs, were worth ordering again. Service was outstanding within a very overall welcoming environment. Only drawback is that parking near the restaurant can be a challenge.

What an awesome place to have dinner. I thought the atmosphere was great and the dining room has some very high ceilings, the place looked great. The staff was very friendly and very willing to suggest plates to order. We had a couple drinks and ordered the following:

Brussel Sprouts - Really about as good as they get. Great flavor and cooked perfectly.
Deviled eggs - I thought they had great flavor and I’ll order them again.
Mac and Cheese - The pasta and cheese were a great pair but the bacon onion jam really helped complete the dish.
Redfish - probably the most interesting dish. The celery root remoulade was amazing when paired with the fish. The fish was cooked perfectly and it all came together so well.
Baby Back Ribs - Sweet flavor and the bite was perfect.

The red snapper crudo was suggested but we didn’t order it...I’ll definitely try it next time. The next table over ordered it and it looked great.

I’ll definitely be back to Cafe Josie

We loved the "experience" tasting menu.

The concept of an "unlimited" array of various dishes was interesting and the execution was excellent. We ate almost every bite of all the plates and of note was that all plates were more than just a few bites. Plates would have been easy to share for 2 or 3, some even enough for 4 as served for the 2 of us.

By the time we got through all the dishes, we didn't have room to go back for more of any of them but we did save room for an amazing cheesecake dessert, recommended by the chef as the lightest option.
