I brought my best friend for The Experience on Sunday to celebrate her birthday. We had a reservation, though there wasn’t a wait when we arrived just before noon. Wade was our server, and he was just perfect! He went to the kitchen and got a quick answer about the prep of one item, and cheerfully took our order. He brought our food at a nice pace; we weren’t rushed, nor did we wait endlessly. He kept our water glasses full and changed out our little plates often. Every restaurant should have someone just like Wade!! The food was wonderful, as always. My ONLY complaint was the noise of the front door banging! We had a table on that wall; we moved it an inch away OFF the wall, which stopped the rattling of the table. However, a door stopper/cushion/pad would be very helpful!! We finally got used to it (almost!) but it was loud!!

We had The Experience tasting menu to celebrate our daughter's 18th bday. We tried everything but the brisket and the frisée salad. Each of had our favorites, but all the dishes were fantastic, no weak links. Our server, Mallory, was engaging and helpful, and contributed to the perfect evening. We'll definitely request her next time. Can't wait to come back!

I've never quite been to a place like this. For one set price u can order as many small plates as u desire. The kicker here is that the taste and presentation of each of the small plates are outstanding. We tried just about everything on the menu. We were amazed how flavorful each dish was. I had many great dishes there. I highly recommend this pure AUSTIN Restaurant. U won't be disappointed.

Most everything we ordered was very good. That included the Fried Brussels sprouts, Fried Oysters, Scallop ceviche, wedge salad, grilled gulf shrimp, korean fried chicken, grilled gulf redfish, grilled salmon, blackened pork belly, and grilled hanger steak. We didn't like the Tostones but that's likely because we just don't like Tostones. The one thing that I noticed that I was a little sensitive too was the amount of smokiness in the fish. It was either that it was too smoky or the smoke that they used was just really strong. Either way, it was distracting. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed it a lot!

Our favorite items on the menu were the Scallop Ceviche, Fried Oysters, Korean fried chicken and both fish dishes. I especially liked the broth in the Grilled Salmon. I normally don't like soup or broth but the flavor was amazing in the broth for that dish. My wife who usually doesn't eat much loved the Scallop ceviche. I think she had 3 helpings of that alone. She also liked the Korean Fried Chicken quite a bit. It had good flavor but not as spicy as what I'm used to from gochujang. I liked the hanger steak quite a bit but the potato to steak ratio was too high and I didn't want to waste my appetite on (really good) roasted potatoes and chips.

Great small plates menu. There is a fixed price per person, but they will keep bringing as many plates to your table as you desire. Drinks are good, outdoor seating available. Inside is quite minimalist decor but comfortable. On street parking available. We enjoyed everything we tried. Brussel sprouts, korean fried chicken, a poached salmon dish and mac and cheese were some of our favorites. And, don't forget the beignets for dessert (if you still have any room left).

Cafe Josie is one of the top restaurants in Austin. The menu is very creative, the dishes are without exception well presented and delicious. Service by Vincent makes an evening everything a dining experience should be. If I lived nearby I would go there several times a week.

Food is great. Ambiance is great. And it's possible to converse because the noise is under control. But we had a new server, and she forgot to put our order in for 45 minutes, so we waited a really long time... we should have been brought something extra to compensate. Well, she will learn, but this made the experience less than ideal. Also the wines on the list are interesting but a little rough (at least the ones we tried, by the glass).

They now have a small plates only menu. On the weekends, it is unlimited plates for $45 per person. During the week, the plates are a la carte. The food was superb. Lots of options to choose from and everything we tried was excellent. I love being able to taste eight different preparations in one sitting. We will definitely be going back often.

The idea behind the restaurant is that you pay a fixed price but you order as many of the plates available on the menu. We tried almost everything and there wasn't a single dish we didn't like. Top favorites were Mac & cheese, Korean chicken, and the risotto.

I was there with friends but there were quite a few couples dining so it seems like a good date place.

There is a small parking lot behind the building (which is free) or street parking.

I've been there a couple of times and am definitely planning on coming back, especially since they're in the process of changing their menu. A new delicious adventure awaits!

We absolutely loved this restaurant. The serveice was great and the food was soooo good. We ordered one each of the items listed in the experience and were so full by the time we were done . The standouts were the salmon in dashi broth, Brussel sprouts, ribs, Mac and cheese, and the oysters. We will definitely be back

My wife and I went to Cafe Josie to celebrate our anniversary. It was absolutely fantastic. On Friday and Saturday they offer "The Experience" in which you can order as many small dishes as you want. This was great because it gave us so many wonderful things to try and to share. I appreciated that it was not too loud and the service was friendly and prompt. We love it all - its our new favorite. FIVE STARS!

It was shocking how bad the food was here. Charging $45/person for small plates that are all disgusting is a terrible deal. We ate maybe $10 worth per person and that's stretching it. I don't understand how people think anything here is good. We should have stayed at Clark's where we had delicious appetizers and drinks beforehand. Really, really disappointed.

one of the best meals he has ever had. I cannot say enough about this place, will definitely be back.

This is my FAVORITE brunch in Austin! Great location for a group of 6-10. Very reasonable pricing, great brunch cocktail offerings, and the food is amazing! The environment isn't real sexy but the service and food make up for that. There is a small patio in the front area for nicer weather.

The prix fixe dinner was bland, tasteless and one of the most underwhelming meals I've had in a long while. The best thing was the kale salad. Quantity of food is NOT a substitute for quality of food. Pare down your selection and do a REALLY great job with fewer dishes.

Fantastic pre fixe menu on Saturdays. Something for everyone. Nice because I was with a couple of eaters who can't eat spicy dishes and they still have plenty of good options. The redfish, fried oysters and chocolate mousse are standouts!
We got lucky with free parking right in front. Allow 2 hours to dine.

Great food but have some issues. First it is bad business and service where if you order a certain number of dishes a la carte that you can't convert to the experience even if you only order ones on it!

My buddy and I weren't ready to commit to fifty each but three dishes a piece in we would have with the flexibility. Was a downer on the night.

Also it's too expensive by 10 bucks. 50 bucks for unlimited small plates in Austin? Are you guys crazy? The food is so good but the pricing and setup betrays the food.
