Food was good
Atmosphere was great, especially for a date
Service was mediocre
This place could easily compete with Farm House if they just put a little more thought into the operation
I really was glad that there was indoor dining as well as outdoor. The lighting and fireplace made it cozy . The tile work and art was lovely. Touring the gardens after lunch was an added bonus.
My friend and I had a wonderful time catching up on what has been going on in our lives. We sat outdoors and it started nice and all of a sudden the fog rolled in and it was a sight to see with all of the gardens and trees! We enjoyed this immensely. We ordered the trout which was perfectly cooked and served with al dente green beans and mashed potatoes. We ended with an apple tart and cappuccinos, all wonderful. Everything was perfect except for the young waitress who took an instant dislike to us because we asked what the soup de jour was. She rolled her eyes at us and threw her head back, like she could not believe our question! A young man then came over to help us order. She didn't check on us again until she brought us our bill. We said that we would like to see the dessert menu, again the eyes rolled. When we told her what we wanted she brought us the cappuccinos and literally banged them on the table. She then turned and left and I had to get up and find someone else to get us some sugar. I write this hoping management will take note and retrain this young lady. I loved the venue and I loved the food and everyone else we came into contact with was delightful. This is just a little glitch that needs to be handled.
The food is excellent and perfectly presented. the menu is not large but is suitable for most tastes. The ambiance is wonderful whether indoors or outside. The gardens are beautifully maintained year round and add an after meal treat for a relaxing stroll. This is a favorite venue for my wife and me to visit on special occasions.
The restaurant is charming, and the lunch selections were perfect for our group. We each had something different, and everyone was happy with their selection. The presentation of the food is as beautiful as the garden environment. This is a monthly gathering for us, and we talk and catch up on each other's lives. Our waiter was very conscious of this, and service was just right. The view of the gardens makes for a lovely setting.
Food was good but service not so. The waiter never came to refill our water glasses and could not keep track of who ordered what, even though it was a 3 course fixe prix menu and the restaurant not full.
I drove from North County San Diego taking the Coast Hwy part of the way. Spectacular views, wonderful weather, leisurely drive allowing for the stop and go traffic thru Dana Point, Laguna Beach, etc. My choice for lunch was the Trout - a rarely seen item on most menus - and was totally satisfied with the preparation, presentation and delicious flavor. The staff members were professional, courteous and friendly. The patio seating was perfection with a front & center view of the beautifully decorated Christmas Tree. A tour of the grand garden topped off the day for my guest & I. Can't wait to return to try some of the other enticing menu items.
Wonderful food and great atmosphere. We celebrated a friend’s gathering for a Christmas lunch. It was lovely!
It's always a delight to dine here and I have been doing so for years. Tour the gardens before or after lunch and enjoy a fine meal on the patio overlooking the gardens. The food is always excellent . I would dine here more frequently if there were daily specials.
I love Sherman Library and Gardens for the sheer natural beauty of the surroundings. Unfortunately the day we visited the restaurant had a problem with its gas ovens and could not serve the quiche which I️ was looking forward to.
I did have a ceasar type salad topped with a poached egg. The salad was very tasty though not a large enough portion.
