We stopped in for Sunday brunch as it was convenient for our plan to spend time at the Sherman botanical garden. However, we were surprised to find that the food was so fantastic. Their butternut squash soup was delicious and they are one of the rare restaurants that has served us a beet salad prepared by someone who must actually like beets! It was the best ever. These were followed by an equally well prepared cheese omelet to share. The main entrées were a succulent lamb osso bucco with just the right amount of exotic spices without being "spicy" and a moist roast chicken. Finishing with a strawberry sorbet and an amazing egg tart made this meal the highlight of our vacation weekend. The restaurant is cozy with lovely views of the garden and the staff was friendly and efficient. Café Jardin is truly a gem of Corona del Mar.
Lovely dinning in the beautiful gardens. Food very good and price reasonable. Bonus walking thru the gardens after lunch
Had a nice pleasant birthday lunch w/my girlfriend.
Two of us brought our dear elderly friend to celebrate her 88th birthday for lunch at Sherman Gardens. I made an advance reservation and we were seated promptly at 11:30 am. We planned to have a leisurely lunch to chat and catch up and to enjoy the view of the gardens. After the server stopped by our table twice within a short time I told her we were in no rush and needed more time. She told me we had to order now before it got busy. I was surprised but did not want to disturb the happy mood at our table by saying anything. We ordered promptly, ate and left about 1:30 pm. Note: Only then did it begin to get crowded on the outside patio. I do not know if it was busy inside. I found her attitude disappointing and cold. I still tipped her 20% because I know how hard servers work having been one myself, but I consider her service poor.
The salmon appetizer was over cooked. The desert was okay.
Perfect setting, perfect food, perfect service - 5 stars all the way
Very relaxing and beautiful setting. Food was delicious and the dessert was the best.
Beautiful scenery for an anniversary lunch. Loved the gardens. Great food . Thanks.
It was a cloudy cool day so we didn’t get to enjoy outdoor seating in the garden which certainly changes the overall experience. The food was very good but I’m thinking a little overpriced. With lunch, coffee and dessert and tip was about $50 per... little pricy for lunch. That said, I would recommend and I will come again.
Food was good
Atmosphere was great, especially for a date
Service was mediocre
This place could easily compete with Farm House if they just put a little more thought into the operation
I really was glad that there was indoor dining as well as outdoor. The lighting and fireplace made it cozy . The tile work and art was lovely. Touring the gardens after lunch was an added bonus.
My friend and I had a wonderful time catching up on what has been going on in our lives. We sat outdoors and it started nice and all of a sudden the fog rolled in and it was a sight to see with all of the gardens and trees! We enjoyed this immensely. We ordered the trout which was perfectly cooked and served with al dente green beans and mashed potatoes. We ended with an apple tart and cappuccinos, all wonderful. Everything was perfect except for the young waitress who took an instant dislike to us because we asked what the soup de jour was. She rolled her eyes at us and threw her head back, like she could not believe our question! A young man then came over to help us order. She didn't check on us again until she brought us our bill. We said that we would like to see the dessert menu, again the eyes rolled. When we told her what we wanted she brought us the cappuccinos and literally banged them on the table. She then turned and left and I had to get up and find someone else to get us some sugar. I write this hoping management will take note and retrain this young lady. I loved the venue and I loved the food and everyone else we came into contact with was delightful. This is just a little glitch that needs to be handled.
The food is excellent and perfectly presented. the menu is not large but is suitable for most tastes. The ambiance is wonderful whether indoors or outside. The gardens are beautifully maintained year round and add an after meal treat for a relaxing stroll. This is a favorite venue for my wife and me to visit on special occasions.
The restaurant is charming, and the lunch selections were perfect for our group. We each had something different, and everyone was happy with their selection. The presentation of the food is as beautiful as the garden environment. This is a monthly gathering for us, and we talk and catch up on each other's lives. Our waiter was very conscious of this, and service was just right. The view of the gardens makes for a lovely setting.
Food was good but service not so. The waiter never came to refill our water glasses and could not keep track of who ordered what, even though it was a 3 course fixe prix menu and the restaurant not full.
I drove from North County San Diego taking the Coast Hwy part of the way. Spectacular views, wonderful weather, leisurely drive allowing for the stop and go traffic thru Dana Point, Laguna Beach, etc. My choice for lunch was the Trout - a rarely seen item on most menus - and was totally satisfied with the preparation, presentation and delicious flavor. The staff members were professional, courteous and friendly. The patio seating was perfection with a front & center view of the beautifully decorated Christmas Tree. A tour of the grand garden topped off the day for my guest & I. Can't wait to return to try some of the other enticing menu items.
Wonderful food and great atmosphere. We celebrated a friend’s gathering for a Christmas lunch. It was lovely!
It's always a delight to dine here and I have been doing so for years. Tour the gardens before or after lunch and enjoy a fine meal on the patio overlooking the gardens. The food is always excellent . I would dine here more frequently if there were daily specials.
I love Sherman Library and Gardens for the sheer natural beauty of the surroundings. Unfortunately the day we visited the restaurant had a problem with its gas ovens and could not serve the quiche which I️ was looking forward to.
I did have a ceasar type salad topped with a poached egg. The salad was very tasty though not a large enough portion.
Their short ribs are the best I have ever eaten. Beautiful presentations on their dishes. Great for a leisurely meal.
Always enjoy Sherman Gardens and Cafe Jardin. Overtime we're in there, we ensure we have lunch there.
Lovely afternoon lunch with a friend. Beautiful setting, flowers everywhere.
A most charming environment with well presented and tasty cuisine.
Beautiful setting delicious food and very reasonably priced for quality of food. My only complaint was service was so slow we had to get up 3 times to get someone’s attention , we had to get up to also pour our refills for water ? It’s a shame they obviously need more help and try to serve the whole restaurant with the manager and one server . Still we left very satisfied and enjoyed our meal tremendously!!
Love visiting the lovely gardens and gift shop. It is also fun to see if the turtles move! The food is delicious and wait staff friendly and personable. A great choice for birthday or lunch with friends.
A fabulous ambiance for a quiet scenic luncheon. It is also beautiful to walk through the gardens after lunch, The food is good but a bit pricey and a limited menu.
Lovely garden setting, delicious cuisine, fine service.
I love going to Cafe Jardin in the Sherman Gardens! The food is always delicious and the service is excellent. The gardens are beautiful.
Delightful and beautiful
The ambiance of eating in a beautiful garden setting is wonderful. The service is formal, pleasant and gracious. The menu needs more variety.
The library was so interesting, the gardens beautiful and the lunch was delicious.
We had a great Sunday brunch. $40-four course meal overlooking garden was beautiful. Make reservations, enjoy a stroll through garden before or after. Great service too.
Went for lunch and a stroll through the gardens.
Very,very nice. Nice gem.
The view while eating is especially beautiful.
The food and menu is much improved over a year or two ago. It is quiet although music is softly playing.
Our Gadabouts' group had an enjoyable experience, at Cafe' Jardin. The food was delicious, the service was prompt and friendly, and the view of the garden was most pleasant.
Our visit was a treat
Outdoor café overlooking the beautiful Sherman Gardens. We found the food to be creative and
delicious. Started with the steamed beet salad and the pate , both unique and delicious. We had the trout and finished with the "thin apple tart". Would do it again in a heartbeat.
Gorgeous gardens, great food, terrific service, lovely setting.
We were celebrating 2 birthdays and everyone loves Sherman Gardens. Our table for 7 was lovely.
Beautiful setting - and unique gift shop after eating.
