Always love coming here when we visit Malibu!!!
Service was slow, even after asking for water we never got it. Had to ask multiple times/people for a to go box.
Awesome food every time! Cool people working the floor. Could use some updating, things are looking a little grungy around the edges.
We have a reservation at 6pm but was seated at 7pm. Place was packed and loud noise. We constantly have to find our waiter. He was extremely busy. Food was very delicious though. This is my 3rd time. Drinks were kinda expensive served in small glass.
Love the veggie tacos 🌮
Such good food. We have only been for lunches but always leave happy. The grilled corn is great. I always order the Cuban sandwich and it's a serious contender.
It’s a regular favorite. Food was great but lousy service from a waitress with a bad attitude.
Food quality seems to be lacking since last visit 6 month's ago. Meat seems to be of lower quality and smaller portions of chicken enchiladas
Cafe Habana Malibu was easy to find but there aren't many parking spaces in front of the restaurant for customers. The Cubano sandwich was delicious although the Ultimate Margarita was just okay. (But that may be because I ordered it without any alcohol.) Great ambiance and good service too. I'd like to visit again to try a different menu and would recommend the place to my friends as well.
Food & drinks are good-great(somewhat inconsistent). Fun vibe, great people watching. Service is poor-fair. You always kind of get the feeling your inconveniencing your server. Yes, it’s Malibu, but your still in the service industry. Get over yourselves. If you can bring your sense of humor with you about the service, you’ll be fine.
Although the food was good, the service was disappointing. We heard great things about their guacamole and ordered it but couldn’t eat it because they ran out of Corn chips. It took 40 minutes to get the chips. Very disappointing. The waitress neglected to notify us of the delay on the chips when we ordered the guacamole and didn’t come back to fill water or provide drink refills.
hostess was rude when we said we had an Open Table reservation and 'rolled her eyes' at us
However our food server was wonderful and he deserves 5 stars! The food was EXCELLENT on all levels
My husband and I had fortunately made reservations at this popular spot in Malibu, so we were seated promptly. It was quite noisy and busy, but our servers were attentive. I was disappointed that the menu was primarily Mexican fare and would have liked a more Cuban experience, but everything we had was tasty, with generous portions.
The grilled corn is amazing!! The mojitos are very fresh and refreshing!
Well decorated. Popular. Perhaps we ordered the 7 worst things on the menu.
The service is far from good, the restaurant feels run down and dirty. I hope they get it up and running again.
6 stars only because you don’t offer more. A must stop every time we pass through this area.
Amazing service from Halu. Food was great.
I love Cafe Habana - but this particular night i was really disappointed with the service. When I walked in it took 10 minutes for someone to help me, when it wasn’t busy at all and the staff was just sitting at the dining tables laughing. Our waitress wouldn’t give us the time of day and was very rude. She left before taking our whole order, didn’t even give one of us the chance to order.
I love Cafe Habana and their steak tacos are one of my favourite meals anywhere but this last experience really left a bad taste in my mouth.
Overpriced for wonderfully mediocre food.
One down side No Valet at least not in December when I went. Otherwise cool spot.
Excellent food! Excellent service!! Terrific place to hang out and feel welcomed!!
Yummy food and great servers! We decided to go for the Elotes off the cob, as recommended by our server, for the appetizer. As well as splitting the taco soup. I opted for the mahi mahi Fish tacos for my main, and my guest got the Cubano sandwich. We left with full and happy bellies, and are already planning our trip back!!
Not what I would say is authentic Cuban food - more like SoCal Cuban mexican with a delicious overall quality. If I lived locally, this would be a go to place. We went on a sinday afternoon with on an OT reservation asking for outside. We were seated immediately. Drinks were pricey, but way delicious.
Shrimp tacos - yes. Cubano - yes. Grilled corn - yes. Shirt ceviche - eh (leave off the lettuce - then Yes.
Our 9 month old loved it all.
I go to Cafe Habana pretty regularly, because of the food and usually great service. I have to say that Friday night's service was atrocious. Took an extraordinarily long time to get our drinks, we had to ask for more salsa and water refills three times before someone actually helped us out. Food was great, though!
The food was not good or authentic. It was also overpriced. The service was extremely slow and it wasn't even busy. Our waiter kept disappearing. We will never go back. We were very disappointed.
We ate out in patio area in relaxing setting and had some margaritas's after a hard days work and we started with hot goat cheese quesadillas. Our entrees were sizzling hot and cooked to perfection. We had carne asada and enchiladas both outstanding. Were sad to here the owners are getting a divorce. Our waitress was excellent and patient.
A very comfortable environment to sit in . I felt as though I was on vacation. The menu had many choices to pick from and the quality of the food was very good. Someone is paying attention to product for quality and health consciousness.
This restaurant has excellent Mexican food with a California beach-style setting. The atmosphere and ambiance are key too the success of this fun establishment.
fun Malibu resto, nice looking, good food, fun crowd, easy atmosphere
I always enjoy our time and food at Cafe Habana. With a full bar and fun cocktails, and delicious food options, it never disappoints.
The grilled Mexican corn, tortilla soup , fish tacos and raw veggie salad are my favorites!
Such a disappointment. Lunch here is fine. Waitress acted like she was doing us a favor by taking our order. Not enough wait staff for sure. The whole evening was unorganized and rushed. And we sat outside but it was too loud and chaotic. When I go out to eat with friends we like to visit and enjoy conversation. This evening felt hectic, rushed, chaotic and bad.
Hostess said she gave away my reserved opentable after 13mins being late
Nice local spot- our table was not ready when we arrived but the restaurant made it up to use by proving a free round of drinks and eventually a very nice table. Lovely outdoor seating and friendly waiter, good food and fun drinks.
The outdoor ambiance is typically worth the slow service. Attention to detail isn't a strong suit but if you eat here enough, you lower your expectations. One thing that was so disgusting this last time was dining next to a table of two women and their dogs. Watching dogs lick food off of the dining plates on the table was enough to make anyone sick...understand dog lovers but honestly, there should be some common sense of decorum when dining at a restaurant. Why the restaurant allows this is beyond me. Seems like is a health code issue.
We loved it. The service was fast and I couldn't find a problem with this restaurant
Service needs to improve , food was delicious. We were back the next day
The setting is lovely. We ordered guacamole which arrived after our main courses, and only when I asked (also it was pretty much just squished avocado and needed lemon juice and some flavour)
Generally the service was quite slow and intermittent. We went on a Sunday for brunch but when we arrived were informed they don't have a brunch menu and never have, despite there being one on their website. Our bill arrived and it was wrong and for the wrong table (in our favour) which we informed them of even though they hadn't noticed and we paid the correct (much higher) amount - but they didn't really seem to appreciate we had been so open and honest...plus I felt sorry for the other table who had apparently received our bill, which was much higher than theirs, and paid it then left their table.
The staff were very polite and friendly and the food flavours and presentation were great, but at $90 for two adults and one child for a casual brunch it also seemed expensive compared to other casual Mexicans. Had they done an epic brunch I'd have thought it worth it, but it was just tacos and salads, as you can get anywhere...but slower.
Carne Asada Fabulous and my friend had a Chicken Enchiladas double fabulous. Fantastic atmosphere and drinks out of this planet
The food was fine, the service was a little slow. I would probably go to Cafe Cubano again.
