Cafe Grille Ratings and Reviews
Overall, my husband and I had a nice dinner. We started with the Shisito peppers appetizer which was very good. Their house salad was very tasty as well. We regretted however, ordering our steaks on the up sell salt block. Your meal arrives sizzling on a large slab of salt that is several hundred degrees. The concept is that your steak will stay warm while you eat. The problem is that is also continues to cook! They also include on the block any sides you have ordered. In addition to vegetables that burned up on the block, so did the 4 shrimp I paid extra for. They were inedible rubber! We did have good service even though we were disappointed with the sell job. The pistachio cake was delish!
It was very enjoyable. The food was delicious and presented very well. The salmon on the salad was a bit small. The server was ok. I asked about specials and he didn't know. He had to ask. I had seen it was 5.00 Martinis on the website but he had no idea. Other than that it was very nice.
The amount you pay is not worth the amount of food you get. $28 for a prime rib that came with no sides. No potatoes, no fries, nothing. On top of that, the prime rib looked like a 7 bone steak you could buy at Vista Market. Wife had a salmon plate that had a tiny piece of salmon with 4 pieces of asparagus.... 4... cmon! Not worth the drive to west side much less the 60$ for two plates.
Great furnishings, atmosphere, lighting and service. Menu was imaginative and the ceviche appetizer was especially great. The salmon was among the best I've had in El Paso considering distance from fresh source. Made reservations however when we arrived that there was no one at the greeting desk and we had to go thru the restaurant to find some staff member to seat us and recognize that we had in fact made reservations. Outside architecture and lighting looks very inviting a restaurant.
Clean, nice ambiance, quality, flavor profiles, service, attentiveness by management, clean restroom
May be a bit overbearing if you're sensitive to loud noise, I asked for my burger medium but instead it came out well done (although in their defense it was still incredibly juicy), and the tuna was a bit underwhelming (maybe just a bad day but this particular one tasted like any piece of tuna from any grocery store, but again in their defense el paso is not a coastal city so getting quality seafood is at a price point many customers would not want to pay for)
Waited for an hour for half our order then another 10 minutes for the other half. Then we got the wrong check and paid it then got the "right" check so my credit card was double billed. I asked to talk with the manager and though she provided a hollow apology she was dismissive of our complaints, we are regular customers and all the waiters know us by name....can't believe how we were treated. I will never go back!
We celebrated a special occasion. The table was set up and ready when I arrived. The manager Roberto was very accommodating when taking my reservation, due to a miscommunication of a new hostess. During this visit the food was inconsistent. The french dip sandwiches are delicious, but one of the sandwiches that was served at the table had very little meat, compared to the others that were brought to the table. The issue was brought to the attention of management and a satisfactory resolution was given. The service was a little slow but it was a big group. Several of my guests wanted to order sushi, but we were told that it is no longer available, and we were looking at an outdated menu. In closing I have a few suggestions: 1. Serve sandwiches on a plate not a thick slab of wood. 2. Stay open past 7pm on Sundays, 3. Update your menus, remove items that you don't serve. Overall I would come back and recommend Cafe Grill to my friends and family.
This is the second time we have dined there on a Monday, and both times the service has been less than desireable.
The restaurant was not slow, but the wait staff and the bar seem to be running around without direction. Food tasted good, but food comes out at different times and staff seem to have a problem getting orders correct.
Think we will avoid going on a Monday again.
Excellent food and a great venue. I've been coming here since it opened And the food is consistently very good. The service, however, is lacking. There seems to be new wait faces every time I go. They generally aren't familiar with the menu and you can wait forever when the meal is done for your check. What the service lacks is more than the out-weighed by the food. Overall, I recommend it.
Very pleasant date night. We shared a roll and cucumber margaritas (very yummy). My wife had the ribs and asparagus, which she said was quite tasty. She had to trim the bottoms off the asparagus spears. I had the filet which was a nice cut, delicious, and perfectly cooked to medium rare as ordered, although it lacked seasoning. I had the mac and cheese to accompany , which was quite tasty. Had a great bottle of reasonably priced red wine with the meal. Desserts sounded great but we did skip them. Service was attentive but could use some tweaking (I poured most of the wine refills). All in all, a pleasant evening. We will return.
For El Paso it's above average, for many cities Cafe Grille would be quite average at best. There really isn't anything outstanding, everything is mediocre, not bad, but not great either. I'm beginning to see some improvements in the quality of restaurants in EP. We have very few consistently good restaurants to select from and a long way to go in EP.
Would I recommend this restaurant to a friend? Maybe.
It is pretty inside. The waiter was ok. He paid more attention to his other tables than us. The drinks were expensive and my niece paid $7.00 for a virgin Mojito. The food that was on the menu was very expensive. My sandwich was $15.00. The Chocolate Mousse needs to go it was awful. I would not recommend this place or go back.
