My husband and I love this restaurant. The design and atmosphere make you feel as if you just stepped into a restaurant in Italy. The food is wonderful, and the staff and ownership are friendly and accommodating. Our last visit with friends was in connection with Light City Baltimore.
Dinner was excellent. Restaurant very clean. Owner Gia was very pleasant. Would definitely go back and highly recommend visiting this restaurant.
I found this quaint restaurant on trip advisor and was linked to open table to make a reservation. I was a single diner reading a book. My waiter was attentive and informative, the decor and atmosphere was excellent. A great meal on a business trip.
Food was just ok- there are more authentic Italian restaurants in Baltimore’s little Italy which I would recommend.
Wine was warm, server was unpolished (but really nice), food just fair and so not packed for a Saturday night (7:30 reservations).
Café Gia is a wonderful little authentic Italian restaurant that is homey and welcoming. The décor is simple, not plush, but it has plenty of charm. The food was outstanding. We ordered beet salad and charcuterie for appetizers, and special entrees (rock fish napoleon and cavatelli with porcini). Just delicious and a very good deal.
Nice people and service. Very quaint and artsy decor that is pretty to look at. Food was good, but not to high brow or anything. Wine list was a bit generic, that could use a touch up. Overall though it was a pleasant experience.
Found this little spot on Yelp and had a lovely dinner there last night after the Orioles game. Great find!
Cafe Gia is so cheerfully decorated and colorful with authentic paintings on the the dining table tops and murals and posters on the walls. The authentic Italian menu was very fresh, home made and a very tasty light tomato sauce. Gia was very friendly and efficient. There was no problem substituting the potatoes for linguini.
We went on a Thursday night and the place was abuzz. Great food! Great energy! It’s a genuine neighborhood gem. And my Italian friend loved that the chef came out to speak to her in Italian. They’re from the same part of Italy which added to our wonderful experience. A must try in Little Italy!
Our visit to Cafe Gia was excellent! We made reservations online and made a request to sit in the bar. It was Saint Patrick's Day, so being in a Little Italy with a kilt on was a unique experience. We were not aware at the bar was one door down from the restaurant. When we arrived, a nice lady (the owner, we were later informed) greeted us in the restaurant. She took my wife literally by the hand, led her out onto the sidewalk and into the bar area, where she had us choose our table and then introduced us by name to the bartender. We were immediately impressed, and the drinks and meal that followed did not disappoint. I ordered a drink called "The Bitter End." It involved whiskey, bitters, and a sweetener. It was reminiscent of an Old Fashioned but had a cleaner, crisper flavor. The bartender, Brian, was an excellent mixologist as well as food server. He took time to describe the meals and the specials and was Johnny on the spot with water refills. I had a gnocchi dish with butternut squash and walnuts. It was fantastic. I don't remember what my wife had, but she loved it too. We commented on the in interesting dick or both inside and out and learned that Gia had arranged all this herself. As we ate, we watched as groups arrived for dinner. Sometimes arriving as a group, and other times meeting at the location. Somewhere just there for a quick drink and went on their way. Each Patron was warmly greeted by Brian and he did an excellent job of keeping up with several parties in the bar. We don't get to Baltimore very often, but this is a must-do from now on.
It was delicious! Our friend who had never been was so impressed!
Wonderful experience EVERY TIME we go. We’ve never had a bad or even average meal. Fresh, authentic and delicious! My father introduced me to Cafe Gia a few years ago and now I am sharing what REAL Italian food is with my children. As a lifelong Baltimorean, it has absolutely replaced the old standards of Chiapparelli’s and Sabatino’s as THE place to go in Lil It’lee!
An absolute gem. The foo, the service, the experience was just perfect.
Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner immediately. She took us to our seat, a table next to the ground floor window in little Italy. The restaurant is a quirky small interesting spot not your typical tablecloth, italian, music of old feel rather it was more of a bright colored hodgepodge of items and the music, 80’s music! Different, i love 80’s but not for my dinner in little Italy for my husbands 51st bday. The owner surprised us by telling us it was also her birthday so my husband and her had an instant connection. Our server was Gia, her daughter. She was very pleasant but to be honest didn’t seem to “love” her job and it seemed to be a bit of strain to “get to know her”. Ou food was just ok, not what we all expected i had the mussels but they were just a bit too fishy for me, my one son had the marinar and meatballs which he said were good and my other son had the salmon which he enjoyed. My husband had a rage sauce and it was good but he said he wished he had gotten the marina bc that is his favorite. We enjoyed our dessert and even had a bday cannoli, lemonchello and a nice toast at the end with the owner. Again, we had a nice evening just being with our family and celebrating. Would we go back here for another little Italy dinner probably not but i am sure it would be a fun spot in the summer to just grab an appetizer and a drink!
The food was amazing and we loved the atmosphere! The service was great.
You can never go wrong with Cafe Gia! The food is always delicious and the environment takes you to Italy. And Giovanna, the owner, is so sweet! She greeted us at the door and escorted my mom and I to our table. Talk about top notch service!!!
Nice little corner restaurant. The food was delicious, service great, chocolate creme brulee was amazing. The 80s rock music didn't fit the decor, but a great cozy place.
We are always greeted warmly at Cafe Gia. The service is good, the food is wonderful, and the ambience is delightful!
The closest thing to Rome in Baltimore! This was the second time we came to Cafe Gia, and we were not disappointed! The service was good despite it being very crowded on a Saturday night. The food was wonderful. The pasta was the closest I've had to the Italian in Rome that I've had. Will be back!
Theater after dinner
tops in food and service as always. Best Italian in Baltimore. Have been there no less than 6-8 times
Just a fun and Authentic family owned Italian restaurant. Very good food. Very creatively decorated with original paintings/murals, table tops, etc. all very well done. Just a good comfortable place
Great food and service. Quiet place to have a good conversation with a meal.
We love Gia's and go there often. Always love it. It's our can't go wrong, go- to place!
Our favorite restaurant in Baltimore never disappoints. We got the pork stuffed pasta in butter sage sauce and a stuffed veal dish. I don’t think I’ve ever had anything taste that good. You know the trend that many places have taken on where the put a teaspoon of sauce and swoosh it on your plate - so little you can’t taste it but it is supposed to be artwork? That’s not Cafe Gia’s. Expect generous portions of decadent food... obviously the chef wants you to have a decent amount and leave feeling nourished with Italian love. Don’t skip on the dessert or lemon cello!
My wife and I reserved a table for Christmas Eve dinner. At the time, the only tables was around the corner from the front door. It was chilly and breeze and the draft came through the screen that was set up between us and the door. This was the only criticism we had all night. The food was outstanding. I ordered Veal Francese which was not swimming in sauce. It was the best I had. My wife, who can be a food snob, ordered the Osso Buco, which was tender and juicy. Our server, Irena, was attentive and knew the menu. She even brought us sample Cello drinks for us to try. We have been to Café Gia previously and will return in the coming year, once it warms up.
We always enjoy dining at Cafe Gia Ristorante and last week was no exception. We love the warm and cozy atmosphere inside the restaurant and the food and service are consistently top notch. It is a fun place to stop in and enjoy a good, old fashioned Italian meal at a reasonable price. Highly recommended!
Lovely little gem in Little Italy. Delicious food and the cozy atmosphere is delightful!
The food was fine but the service was not good. We will not be running back to this restaurant. It's a shame that no one felt the need to come over to our table to check on us, including one of the owners who walked by us multiple times and never said a word to us. Not a great dining experience. They also have no side salads which was disappointing.
A lovely dinner .. a real gem! The pasta was clearly homemade and everything was perfectly prepared. We will return and share with others.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Baltimore. The food is so good every single time. I’ve yet to try something I don’t love. The ambiance is icing on the cake. Can’t wait to come back!
Eclectic place, fantastic food...would definitely go back!
The decor was fantastic! Such upbeat, colorful walls with pleasant staff and delicious food. The mussels were gigantic. The eggplant was the best I’ve ever tasted! It was so fresh and flavorful without the usual grease associated with eggplant. The shrimp fra’diavlo was fantastic and spicy as implied. The tiramisu was very good and the chocolate crepe brûlée was tremendous in flavor and preparation! Gia is sweet and caring! We will definitely be back. What a great find. 😎
I eat hear a lot. The food is delicious and the dining room is very pleasant.
Excellent experience! Both momma and Gia were there and most hospitable. Momma G told us her story of coming from Sicily on the Andrea Doria with her parents. The chef is from Italy too which is definitely reflected in the very authentic, home style Italian food. Cafe Gia is the full package, outstanding food served by a personable waitstaff in a casual but upscale setting.
We went for a friends night out and we all had a superb experience. The octopus was so tender and delicious. The beef carpaccio was perfectly prepared.
For entrees we all tasted and sampled each other’s and we agreed that the Osso Buco was the best we’ve ever had. The homemade pastas were outstanding and seasoned perfectly.
Get the limoncello after your meal...it’s homemade!
Delicious food, great ambience, and good service made for an excellent night out! The pasta is fresh, and the meatballs were perfectly cooked. Highly recommend a visit!
Restaurant is charming, food is good. It was dissapointing the item 3 of our party of 4 wanted to order was no longer on the menu. And we didnt know until we ordered.
Cafe Gia- is beautiful inside and out and the food is phenomenal! A must if you are visiting Little Italy! The mother and daughter Team that run Cafe Gia are so warm and welcoming you feel like you are invited to their home for dinner! I had a roasted beet and fennel salad that was so beautiful and so delicious ! Followed by an oven roasted flounder with lemon , rosemary and olive oil that was so fresh and so delicious you would have sworn you were eating at seaside cafe in Sicily! My father , my daughters and my husband all had equally delicious meals ! There is nothing on the menu or the specials that you won't love ! This was our 4th time to Little Italy on a stay In Baltimore- we regret we didn't find Cafe Gia sooner ! We will return to Cafe Gia every time we are in Baltimore ! We had a wonderful evening at Cafe Gia and know you will too! We cannot wait to go back !!
