Absolutely terrible service and below average meals.
Cafe Gabianno was recommended by a friend. Good deal for happy hour though the service during this time was okay. Food was excellent and portion size is decent.
We love this restaurant it has the same quality as any large city restaurant. My wife and I drive 70 miles from Tampa just to eat there. I would recommend this to anyone who has family and friends in town as well as after business meeting dinner. Noah is our go-to waiter he as always taken care of us I am sure the other wait staff is as just as nice. This time we met Pete one of the partners in the restaurant he explained how the chef is from an island off the coast of Naples Italy. ( Not Florida Naples) Spo if you want really good food this is the place. Tampa Mike Formerly jersey mike( not the sub guy.)
We had a group dinner outing to celebrate one of our party's birthdays. We were seated promptly and at a very comfortable table for 6. The ambience was very good and the food was outstanding as usual, yet the entire dinner experience was marred by slow service. We aren't sure if one of our entrees had to be done over forcing them to hold all of our dinners - or if there was another issue in the kitchen, but it took over and hour and a half for our entrees to be served. And since it was after season, the restaurant wasn't extremely busy. We still had an OK time overall, and were comped with a drink for all the delay, but... It really was a shame, since the service in recent past had been as outstanding as the food.
Good service. Knowledgeable server. Husband loved his pasta. My fish was over cooked and overpowered with herbs. Nice wine list with some interesting selections. And there was parking which is always a plus.
Our second time here. Both visits were exceptional. Outstanding food and service. I had the linguine with seafood. The veal chops looked magnificent. That will be my choice next time. Reservations a must in season.
Although the veal and eggplant dishes were good, the seafood dishes were not very good. Sitting on the porch was very crowded and noisy, you felt as if you were sitting at family style tables and it was difficult for the wait staff to serve the table. The light weight curtains were pretty but not helpful as divisions. The inside restaurant was less noisy and the tables were well placed. Perhaps that is a better place to have a table. I have been here before and was not impressed, but tried it again. I probably would not return.
Delicious and relaxing kickoff dinner experience for our special friend’s weekend!
Food was very delicious and the hospitality was great.
We went for my boyfriend birthday and was very satisfied with everything.
Complaint: As a result of our very good experience, courtesy of a friend, I made a reservation for my wife's 75th birthday. When we checked-in on the outside deck, they were aware from Open Table that this was a birthday dinner. The table was good, the waiter was good and the food was good too. However, there was never a courtesy recognition of my wife's birthday (after all 75 years is pretty special). We left with an unnecessary feeling that somehow this wasn't a special dinner...and it should have been.
When I returned home, I had missed a call from Reagan who apologized for the oversight and that the restaurant would be happy to make amends by offering the courtesy birthday dessert at our next reservation. Perhaps I am not grateful enough for the call and offer, but that was very hollow after missing the opportunity to make a great impression during a once-in-a-lifetime birthday event.
Our food was excellent and they were very accommodating to our two grandsons, ages 2 and 3. Would definitely recommend.
Really enjoyed our meal and service. Will visit again next time we are vacationing in Siesta Key. Wish the patio was really outdoors.
Food and service was fantastic, waitress knew how to wait on customer s and accomodate food was delicious and atmosphere is awesome
I had the veal medallions special...outstanding! My husband had the homade gnocchi with Bolognese sauce. Sauce was great but the gnocchi were undercooked. We would have returned the gnocchi but there was a wine dinner going on and they seemed overly busy. Service fluctuated from very attentive to missing. House labelled Montepulciano wine was excellent. We would try again on a non wine dinner night.
Best Restaurant in Siesta Key! Every time we come to Siesta this is my favorite place to dine. Spring Break this year we brought 7 couples and every single person said it was an amazing meal! The staff is always friendly! I am sad I won't be back to Siesta until next year. Anytime you want to start a restaurant in Michigan-I'll be there weekly!
Service was slow but friendly. Food was just okay. We were a little underwhelmed by the truffle pasta and meat and cheese plate and they got the veg part of the salad wrong and forgot one of the cheeses. The friendly gal who brought the appetizer out did bring out the veg we wanted and let us keep the veg they mistakenly brought which was nice. My husband was disappointed we got seated in the louder, very packed secondary room. It was so packed we had to brush past and apologize to another table. Atmosphere was quaint and cozy Italian. Not quite the level of Italian we expected from other reviews, but not bad. Parking was also difficult.
My daughter and I absolutely loved the food and our waitress was very nice and gave wonderful suggestions. Highly recommend!
A local gem on Siesta Key. Great Italian food and an amazing wine list. Veal dishes are exceptional - and servings are generous. Our server Nora is a pro! Professional, pleasant, attentive, knowledgeable- everything you want in a server. We ask for her every time we dine there. A shout out to our busser Luis - used plates never sat around, he was quick to respond to requests like more bread or additional cheese, and he smiled and interacted appropriately at all times - a great team!
Give this establishment a try - we have never been disappointed.
Cafe Gabbiano is hands down one of the best restaurants, not just Italian, in the area. Service is outstanding, the food is equally as outstanding, and the ambiance is perfect. My bride and I had a lovely Easter dinner there and our server, Robbie, couldn't have been any more accommodating, knowledgable, personable and pleasant. Our entire meal, from start to finish was excellent! Just to share, we had the calamari, pollo parmigiana, Costolette di Vitello (veal chop) and a cannoli for dessert along with some great wine, best we've had in the area. We're thrilled to have found such a gem so close by. From salad to dessert, it was excellent. Absolutely worth every dollar. I don't hand out recommendations often, but recommending Cafe Gabbiano is without hesitation. We'll certainly be back. Eccellente!!
Everything was very good and were very accommodating ! Been our favorite for years!
Food was great. Amazing wine kisr
Best food in Siesta Key, table was in wine room perfect for family gathering to talk and catch up family members had come from all over the country for Easter. Service was excellent, food was very good, nice wine list. Would highly suggest this option if looking for a good meal and not the load bar noise and burger joints that serve the rest of visitors.
Fabulous service, beyond excellent food & wine selection! Definitely one of my favorites by far
Everything was so great! Ross was a wonderful waiter
Food was ok. Service was awful. Never asked to refil drinks. Had to ask for sugar for my tea. I Wanted to order dessert , but almost an hour after I asked for a box., The waitress finally returned and handed us the check. She never asked if we wanted dessert and at that point we had been waiting so long we just left. $75 before tip is a lot for crappy service on a date night.
We visit this restaurant every time we're in Siesta Key--always great food, impeccable service!
this was a family dinner and we were delighted to find a nice place which had an opening for 6 on a busy weekend night. Once seated, our server was especially friendly and helpful and had a good grasp of the broad menu of Italian favorites and the lesser known dishes. All in our party were very satisfied with their entrees, both taste and portion. Also kudos to Cafe Gabbiano for their varied wine list.
The service was great excellent . Veal parm outstanding as was the lasagna . Lobster ravioli a little light on lobster but great sauce . I found a reasonably priced wine . The calamari appetizer was very good as well.
Seating was very closed in didn’t like the area! Had to ask if we could get a waitress! Waiting for our waitress also !! Said there were special BUT they really weren’t specials all on the menu nothing special so don’t understand why the tell you about the menu waste of time!!!!! Sorry you really had to pay attention to what our waitress was saying hard to understand!! Very disappointing!! Not sure if I will return
We have been calling Gabby our favorite restaurant in southwest Florida for ten years. Love the personal service and wonderful Italian food. I am allergic to garlic and tgey are very accommodating in preparation of safe food. Love Gabbianos!
We loved this place years ago. Then it changed hands and after 2 bad experiences with poor service, we stopped coming. After reading the newer reviews we gave it another chance. We were pleased with the upgrades but our service was as bad as in the past and my Fish dish was inedible. Never coming back. Too many better options.
Both food and service were very average. Wouldn’t rush back.
Always a great time at this consistently excellent venue.
Variety of menu options, all of which are prepared to perfection
Very accommodating to eating disorders or special requests on food preparation
We make it a point to visit at least 2 times when we visit Siesta Key each year
We introduce our friends to Gabianno each year.
This isn't your run of the mill Italian restaurant. We read the reviews and were a bit skeptical that a restaurant in a seasonal location could really be that good. It is. It's located in a non descript strip of stores and doesn't look like much from the outside. We chose to eat outside on the covered porch. It was spring break and busy! We were seated promptly for our reservation and served by a knowledgable and friendly server. The wine list has quite a few reasonably priced bottles as well as wines by the glass. We were on vacation and splurged a bit on a bottle of Brunello. The food, especially the shrimp w/ squid ink pasta was fabulous with just the right touch of heat. If we are in this area again in the future, we would definitely return to this restaurant.
Excellent service and well prepared food. Fresh mozzarella and prosciutto appetizer. The squid ink pasta was perfect. Great wine selection
Terrific night with friends. Great food wonderful service
Twe have been here three times in the past month and have never been disappointed. We were here for Valentines Day with a group of 8 and we're given a delightful private room. Wonderful good and consistently good service. I would highly recommend this gem of a restaurant.
