Café Fina is a full-service fine dining restaurant, serving lunch and dinner. In addition to our award winning food,we also feature a wide variety of wines, including the best of our local wines, the finest wines that Napa valley has to offer, and a fine selection of Italian wines. Dominic’s cooking has enabled Café Fina to be the sole caterer for John Madden’s induction ceremony into the Football Hall of Fame in 2006 and has earned him visits from Rachel Ray and other TV stars.
I hope to see you soon
For touristy wharf dining Cafe Fina is one of the better options.
Our server provided really good service. The busman was efficient although rough around the edges.
At this price we don’t expect to see vinyl covered table cloths.
Every year we visit the Monterey Peninsula, either with a group or with another couple or two, and we ALWAYS go to Cafe Fina for dinner at least once. This year was no exception. From the moment we were seated to the end of our meal, it was a great time. The service was prompt, efficient and very friendly. The food was outstanding, and the wine that was suggested by our server was fantastic. The calamari appetizer was superb, and each of our entrees was delicious and obviously prepared with the freshest seafood. Cafe Fina has certainly earned our business, and we look forward to another great time at Cafe Fina the next time we are in Monterey.
Love this place. Tiny in size but big in ambience, food, & service! One of our favorite places!
Food was prepared just right. Service was attentive. Would definitely go back.
A delightful sunset evening at a corner table overlooking the harbor and bay, celebrating our 55th anniversary!
Cafe Fina specialty did not disappoint!! Took me awhile, but I wasn't rushed at all and finished the entire bountiful plate of deliciousness almost by myself. Spumoni ice cream was a treat on the house for the occasion. Waiter was attentive and very professional. Very pleasant and highly recommended!
The service, especially our server Roxa ne was wonderful. The food was so delicious I will dream about it. The restaurant was quaint and so charming sitting upstairs looking out at the bay. It was one of the highlights of my trip to Monterey.
Was great service, special greeting to Benito
Nice place, nice food and wine
I will not be returning to this restaurant, the hostess made my family feel like we weren’t good enough to sit by the window with a view of the wharf. Only two tables were occupied at the time. The restaurant is narrow and a little claustrophobic. The food was okay but I was expecting better because it was recommended by Guy Fieri. The worst part was half way through my dinner, I found a hair in my food. I told the hostess because my waiter was nowhere in sight. They did take my plate off the ticket. I had to ask for more water because my glass was empty for a while. Location is one of the best things this place has going for it.
Cafe Fina is our favorite restaurant in the Monterey wharf area. There aren't any barkers outside trying to lure you in. There's just fine Italian influenced seafood, excellent pizzas, pastas, cocktails and service. And try to get a table near the window to watch the otters, seals and loons swim by.
I had the Fried Chicken sandwich and the Stromboli pizza. They were both delicious. I was there on Sunday and they were short staffed so we waited a little long for our cocktails but the staff was very apologetic which I appreciated.
The food at this restaurant is incredible. They make their own pasta and it is so delicious. Everything was fresh, perfectly seasoned and all 5 of us walked away saying the same thing.....best Italian food we ever had. You owe it to yourself to try this restaurant.
My wife and I were celebrating our 41st anniversary. The host was most inviting and made us feel truly welcomed. We requested an outside table and were seated at a great shaded table in front of the window open to the front of the kitchen which allowed us to converse with the prep cooks.
Our server Edgar knew everything about our pre-meal drinks of both tequila and wine. Also about our entrees of which I had concerns about my allergy to canola oil, of which he notified the chefs.
Our meals were prepared perfectly. I had one of the best portions of Halibut that I've ever been served.
The whole dining experience especially the Three Chocolate Mousse is reason for us to return here next time we are in Monterey.
We love their Clam Chowder Soup, French Bread, and a glass of wine. The perfect lighter fare when your eating out for a couple of days in a row. We have been going to Cafe Fina for at least 15 years and fined their soup consistently good as well as there other dishes. Give it a try.
Friendly host. Great service. The food was good and tasteful. Nice and cozy little place to have a dinner with friends loved ones or significant other.
Delicious food! Friendliest owner! Best service! Make a reservation today & enjoy!!
Have been here several times. Food is really good. Scallop in Pernod Sauce special was amazing. Favorite spot on the wharf.
Food and Staff were amazing. You have to check this place out we will be coming back for sure.
The food was not fresh and it was overcooked. My food was supposed to have little neck clams but it had manilla. Very little taste.
Cafe Fina is our favorite restaurant on the Wharf. We bring all of our out of town visitors to Cafe Fina for dinner. The food is always delicious, the views from the back are priceless and it feels like I'm eating a true Italian family dinner. The owner, Dominic, uses fresh ingredients, many of the vegetables are from his own garden. Roxanne is an excellent hostess/server. She's always so happy to see us and genuinely enjoys working at the restaurant. There are some tables out front which is a great way to mix fine food and people watch. Skip the tourist traps and eat at Cafe Fina.
Excellent food and service.
Very tasty and high quality food. Fresh fish. Nice staff, good service. Just a place I would eat again 👍😊
Great fish food and the best waiter in the world. Good choises of local wine
Great not-so-touristy restaurant in the heart of tourist district (fisherman’s wharf). Jewel among a busy rows of tourist traps.
Good seafood and Italian!
Fabulous and friendly service. Great food. Great view. Would recommend
Very fresh and local food deliciously prepared by Dominic who said hello and spent time with us. Light and perfectly seasoned calamari ... we will come back again!
Dominic the owner provides a unique dining experience on the Wharf. Roxanne one of the waitresses is great. Beware as she is the Dessert Devil and will temp you with their convectional delights. Sea Bass, Abalone, Italian flair never disappoints. This is a must try if ever in Monterey California.
It was nice but my daught'ers friend recommended it as an italian restaurant and it was not that vibe. Also it was too costly for the food we got. We made reservations and sat downstairs with the sun glaring into my eyes, squeezed at a small table. Will not go back
This was a wonderful stop to end a solo-trip traveling the Mission trail from Sonoma to Carmel. It was a special trip, and a really nice way to finish; great service and truly excellent fish and chips (hot, fresh, and filling). I will definitely be back the next time I am in the area.
Old school place but sadly past it’s prime.
Food was average at best but the service was great.
It’s a very small place & not in a quaint or romantic way.
Not much in the way of nice views except for the very back of the restaurant & then that’s not that great either.
There are way to many other restaurants in the area to go to with better quality food, better value & nicer views of the bay or harbor.
Jorge was our server and he provided excellent service; he was juggling multiple tables in various phases of their meals. Jorge was professional and efficient, listening intently to each diner as if they were his only customer to care for; he answered questions and took orders and made sure each table was expertly taken care of.
The food was good and on par with other other restaurants in the area. I had the Pasta Fina which was generously portioned (I took half home), my husband had the Traditional Paella which he enjoyed, although he mentioned several times that the sausage was quite spicy, and that I with my sensitivity to spices, would not like it. The deserts were perfectly portioned and a pleasant end to the meal. The restaurant itself is rather small, crammed in along the wharf between a series of other restaurants and shops; the tables are very close in the back with just enough room to move around. Overhearing the neighbors conversations is a hazard.
Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Fresh seafood at the wharf “should” be a given... seafood pallea was a hit and the wild salmon & sand dabs were delicious. Wish the oysters were more local as those were not as fresh as we had hoped.
Service was pleasant and helpful although a bit slow.
The wood fired oven helped give some additional flavors to the meal.
In a “sea” of touristy restaurants this one played up to its star ratings.
Cafe Fina was excellent!!! Definitely a repeat😊
Ignore the flashy signs and all the fluff outside the the neighboring restaurants. This place wants you to come here because you did your homework and want to enjoy an amazing meal at a place that refuses to charge an extortionate amount for.
Service was amazing. Server was very helpful with our 2-year old and came by frequently on this moderately busy night.
Wife had Snapper- best I’ve ever had.
I had the Traditional Paella. I ate it all myself. Everything about it was amazing.
Their bartenders knows what they are doing and have mastered their art. Cocktails were done perfectly.
Great view of the water.
Had a great birthday celebration. Edgar was our amazing waiter. The food was great and we had a wonderful time. We sat up stairs where it was light and bright and had a nice view.
Best place to go to for sure. They are the nicest people and take pride in their food. The seating by the window is perfect for viewing the sea lions and bird watching. From start to finish our meal and date was very enjoyable. Ask for Gerry..she's the best and will take very good care of you. Go at 1130 for prime seating and don't rush .. sit back relax and enjoy it all.
It turns out that a view of the bay is upstairs and inside, not outside. We had a table by the window on an absolutely beautiful day. The food was good and the service was excellent. Edgar was our waiter and he was very helpful and attentive.
The Garlic Bread left much to be desired. It was like a French sandwich roll, overpriced at 8.50 we felt.
The Entre was very good to make up for the bread.
Make sure you order wines by the bottle because you don't know how long wine by the glass has been uncorked. 3-4 stars!
Nice people here! Work really hard to make it a great dining experience!!! The food was very good. Will go back!
Had high expectations but disappointed. My husband ordered fish and chips which was superb. However my pizza wasn’t great. How can an Italian restaurant get this wrong!! The pizza was over cooked and tasteless. The three stars are for the fish and chips
We sat outside with the dogs. We still got a lot of attention and they were very pet friendly.
