Our friends from Minnesota requested a lovely restaurant with good food and quiet atmosphere. Cafe Europe fit the bill perfectly. Our waitress, Megan, was great and enhanced our evening. Our meal (scallops) was delicious, but we had to send them back to reheat which was disappointing. But overall, a lovely evening.
This is a lovely place in Crestwood. It was so close to home (Brookside) and the food was spot on!
What a gem of a restaurant. The service is always impeccable and the food is always so well prepared and presented. Do yourself a favor and try the risotto and scallops and save room for lemon cake or carrot cake! They also make an exceptional burger and daily pizza choices.
Additionally, is there any finer bartender in Kansas City than Susan Avery? She is always so charming and accommodating.
We've been patrons for years and intend to keep coming back.
Steve Colson and Tom Blake
Not as great as previous visits but typically very good so we'll be back.
Good comfort food. Great value. Attentive service. Not a hipster place. "Best old fashioned" in a while.
Wish the menu weren't so limited but we came for the great burgers.
Continues to be an absolute jewel . Absolutely love the staff , unique and in house food, just every thing! 😊😊😊😊😊
Dining experience was unremarkable. We ordered a basic breakfast of eggs and bacon which presented poorly and was extremely over priced based on the meal. Highly recommend something other than the eggs and bacon for breakfast.
We had a small family brunch. We tried the breakfast burger, grits, and biscuits and gravy. Everything was delicious! Waitstaff was friendly and attentive!
We have eaten at Cafe Europa on several occasions, but it seemed like they were having a bad night. The Margarita pizza we ordered was sub par. Barely any cheese, wilted basil and Luke warm. It was not a busy night.
My boyfriend ordered the scallops with risotto and I ordered the poussin (baby chicken) with flannel hash. I was not previously warned that the Poussin would be a longer dish to cook prior to ordering, but we had plenty of time so I did not mind the wait. The restaurant is small and romantic. It feels as if you're in a friend's fancy dining room, or attending a fancy dinner party. I appreciated the quietness of the room and the attentiveness of the waiter. It was also apparent that this is a neighborhood favorite as many diners seemed to know the wait staff well.
However, when my chicken arrived it was quite charred on the skin. I kept hoping it would just be crispy and delicious but instead it surprisingly translated the burnt taste to the meat (rather than a smoke taste). It was also a very difficult dish to eat mannerly due to all the bones (the chef could really cut it into more pieces to assist with this). While my boyfriend enjoyed his scallops and risotto very much, I left with the opinion that $25 is too much to pay for burnt chicken (I can accomplish that on my own at home). The waiter did offer a dessert to make up for it, but I declined. Overall, I would try it again for a special occasion, but would definitely order the pork chops instead!
Wonderful food complimented by wonderful service! My friend and I had a fun and relaxing evening.
Excellent meal and service. Cocktails wonderful. Best version of a Manhattan in town. Pizza great...light and fluffy crust. Trout special wonderful. Pork belly delish! Of course save room for dessert...
We loved the limited prix fixe menu on Sunday. Something for everyone
I was surprised to see my steak piled on top of green beans with bacon on a bed of mashed potatoes swimming in chicken gravy.
I don't eat pork.
Great Sunday Brunch and excellent service. Crestwood is a hidden gem in KC!
This place is just as great as the other location they also have great food and great service
This was my 4th visit here, never disappointed. My daughter and son in law took me here for Father's Day and we were able to converse and eat good food.
Great food in cozy, casual environment. One of my favorite restaurants in KC!
Chose Cafe Europa for Father's Day family brunch. Food was excellent and service great - even though server may have had a table or two too many. Really appreciated that father and grandfather could be seated and have cocktails & conversation while waiting for the "millenials" to arrive. Great place to eat, talk, not be rushed. Special place and atmosphere.
First time here and the interior was lovely. The service was awful. The waiter could not answer any questions about the menu it was ridiculous. If it weren't for the lemon cake - which was amazing- I would never go back.
Great food. Fantastic service. Can't wait to eat here again!
We wish the menu was more extensive
Pleasant atmosphere, great service, great food. Small neighborhood setting. Very enjoyable a the way around.
Hit this spot for the first time on a Sunday evening before a show. The Sunday supper menu is simple yet still hard to choose! Great value for the quality, three-course meal. Solid, yet not overwhelming, cocktail selection. Quiet and unassuming. Great experience for us.
The staff is friendly and helpful; the atmosphere is comfortable and classy; the food is excellent; the drinks are great; the desserts ... well, that's the BEST part!
Great old world charm. Go for quaint space and simple elegance. Solid comfort food choices.
Ordered the spinach and feta quiche with the house salad. So yummy! The mini biscuits were novel and tasty, too. Came after Pilates with a friend. We both enjoyed the experience. I'd go back.
The service was good and the people were very generous to us on our anniversary!
I had heard many good things about Cafe Europa and I was not disappointed. Great atmosphere and a delicious meal.
We have eaten at Cafe Europa several times and it has always been one of our favorite restaurants. This time the food had to be sent back to kitchen because it was cold. I don't know if the opening of the second place has caused it to slip but something is not good in kitchen.
Received a call (while at the restaurant) that I had not showed up for the reservation. Then received an email from Open Table the next day saying I had not kept my reservation. Really irritating! My friend and I spent over $80 for dinner.
Pleasant atmosphere, great food, good service. Quiet enough for conversation with friends.
The food was great and the service was excellent. Really enjoyed the lemon cake for desert.
Love it. Good food. fun place to get out of the house and have good dinner and lemon cake for dessert
Food is good. Sunday they serve 3 entres plus salad and dessert. Everyone liked the fried chicken and the steak. I had the trout it was ok I didn't care for all the gravy on everything. The lemon cake is delicious
Took my wife here for a birthday dinner during the Sunday dinner meal. We are both in our 40's. So not quite old per say, but not kids either.
We both enjoyed the salad.... Mostly because it wasn't drowning in dressing.
I had the trout, and she had the Amish chicken. Honestly, neither dish was seasoned. My wife actually said " Maybe they don't spice they're food until after 7" (our dinner date was at 5:30)!
I'd have to agree, the main course was very bland. Not only did we both add salt, but loads of pepper.
Dessert was a lemon cake....It was ok, a little sweet for my liking. I think the best part of the meal was the coffee.
We drive down from Omaha to KC a couple times a year. We always stop by Cafe Europa. We're never disappointed!
Excellent, as always. You must try the risotto with scallops prepared beautifully. Our server was so attentive and personable. A true dining gem south of the Plaza.
