The food is fantastic and the staff has been on their game the last 3 times I have been there.
Great service, food and ambience. We have been to Cafe Ena several times and have never been disappointed.
Fantastic food and great service. Wonderful salmon prep.
I have been happy with Cafe Ena every time I have visited. My friends who hadn't been there before were equally impressed. The guacamole is a must-eat!
Continues to be one of our favorites in south Minneapolis for a great dining experience.
The halibut was dry.
We had mixed feelings on our experience at Cafe Ena. First thing we noticed it was very noisy.
The service was very good. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable! There were 4 of us and we all thought the amount of wine in the glass was skimpy . As far as the food, we had mixed reviews. Two of us had the Sea Bass special. It was delicious! The other two had the pork chop special and both thought it was overcooked and rather bland. The presentation was very nice! We thought the meal was overpriced. I'm not sure that we will come back.
We've known this was a great spot for dinner - we've enjoyed it many times. This was our first time for Happy Hour - yummy!
The halibut was amazing! This place is a gem. I will be back.
Experience very good overall. We arrived 15 minutes early and were seated 15 minutes late, so definitely felt the lack of a bar. However, once seated, service and food were both outstanding!
excellent! eat there frequently. One of our favorites.
We've eaten at Café Ena 3 other times, but this time we were disappointed in the way the seating was handled.
We had a reservation, and arrived on time, but when we got there the hostess had no tables - she said that she was told to seat walk-ins and wouldn't have a table for 25 minutes. It truned out to be 40 minutes.
I think they should make a decision to be walk-in (FCFS) based OR to honor reservations, but don't lead people on that they actually handle reservations if NO preference is given to them.
When we did got seated we then waited over 10 minutes before being greeted by he waiter, and normally that would not be an issue at all for me, but I was already irritated.
We enjoyed our food - they do have a delightful, unique menu! We all had seafood. And I think the guacamole is the best I've ever had!
We arrived on time for a 6:30 reservation and weren't seated until 7:10. Apparently, the owner seats whoever walks in, regardless of reservations. The food is okay, nothing remarkable. There are far better restaurants in town. We won't be returning.
Apparently a lot of people know about this place, just not me! So glad we had reservations. I picked it from a list of OpenDoor “suggestions” and after seeing great reviews.
Interesting menu, delicious food, good service (in a very busy smallish restaurant), nice decor. I would definitely go back. Quite a wonderful surprise!
Went for dinner. Food exceptional, service excellent. Good neighborhood ambiance, moderate noise level. Not bad price (~$60/person, drinks, meal, dessert, tips). Will go back.
Leah was our server, excellent!! The food was great, service fantastic!
We were a party of six for Easter brunch. We had an excellent experience, both in terms of food as well as great service. Our request to sit in a corner was honored so we could hear better. This is our second Easter brunch at Ena and look forward to making it a tradition.
Amazing! Great sangria, great service, and great food. The flavors and spices were perfect.
We shared wine and multiple appetizers rather than ordering entrees. The service and food were both excellent. This was a first time experience for two of the three, and Cafe Ena did not disappoint!
Fantastic neighborhood vibe. Food presentation was so nice, it was fresh, and delicious. We shared the guacamole— highly recommended. We also had risotto which was made with so many crisp veggies — really good.
Family get together, our first time here. Really is another example of a really nice, intimate, independent foodie restaurant. Nice mix of cozy, neighborhood, but top shelf cuisine very artfully laid out. While my halibut was a bit disappoint in that it was kind of dry, I'd still go back as the overall experience was very good. Note to chef: no offense, but your guac could really use some kind of kick. Really good fresh ingredients with a flair in presentation, but how about a jalapeno or two? Mpls palettes are not as bland as you think.
Love this place. Halibut was disappointing this time. Way too dry. Everything else was wonderful.
Two bad experiences in a row in what used to be one of my go-to places. On Valentines Day my fiance and I showed up for an 8PM OpenTable reservation. We walked in right at 8PM and were greeted by SRO in the entrance, and an over-one-hour wait for our table. Not wanting that experience, we headed outside, took stock of our options, and ate at the bar at the place across the street. Not good. At dinner we related this experience to our server (no manager on duty), who was polite but just said 'thanks for giving us another chance' and walked away. We started with the Ceviche (outstanding BTW) and waited on my favorite at the place, the Bife de Chorizo, which we both ordered rare/med-rare. On arrival, it looked and smelled fantastic, but the meat was so tough that we both pondered asking for real steak knives. It was hard to chew. Seeing we had already playing our 'bad experience' card that night, we soldiered through it and left before coffee and deserts. Now sure when we'll be going back.
Awesome, never disappoints!
This is a real Mpls treasure. The food is so flavorful. Portions are just right.
The wait staff is very attentive, but not overbearing. The fish dishes are always exceptional, and the guacamole is a work of art (as well as delicious!) It's one of favorite special occasion places!
Two couples, we ordered the grouper special and the chilean sea bass, both were wonderful. Can't wait to go back.
Once again, wonderful food and service, our neighborhood gem!
There was a staple in my scalp (yes! A metal staple) and they were apologetic but they didn't even offer a free dessert. I had to pay for my entire meal. I really enjoy the food but that was just plain ridiculous! Not sure I'll go back after that service.
Have never been disappointing. It's a solid goto.
Very accommodating. We asked for a light dessert of fruit that wasn't on the menu and they made a special whipped cream with berries just for us. Delicious!
Service was attentive and exceptional.
Great service, wine special and the apps were delicious. Will be back again soon . We love this place.
Pros: Empanada appetizer, ambience, wait staff. Cons: Disappointed in entrees- Red Snapper special was lacking taste and the risotto it was served on was mushy. Halibut lacked flavor as well.
Creative and delicate fish dishes well prepared. Terrific appetizers including ceviche, calamari, and guacamole. Our group of 2 couples had no problem having a normal volume conversation.
Met at Cafe Ena at 1pm for lunch - made a reservation previously for 5 persons - restaurant had a steady flow of customers but not overly busy. Service and food was amazing - hostess and wait staff very friendly and attentive. The selection on the menu is very good and the quality of the food and presentation is outstanding. This restaurant is cozy and located in a cute neighborhood.
This is our second dining experience at Cafe Ena and again, it was amazing! From the appetizers to the dessert, the food was phenomenal. Our server made several suggestions that were right on par. We'll be back.
Great little place. Nice atmosphere. Fresh and very well prepared food. It's hard to make a decision on what to eat because everything sounds great. Nobody was disappointed in our group.
Wonderful find!! If you haven't tried-it's a must and bring a friend. The food is fantastic, the prices reasonable and the atmosphere is comfortable and cozy You can hear yourself think and speak. The guacamole is the best ever. The salmon cooked to perfection, the wild mushroom quesadilla excellent and a favorite. Their pork dish was amazing. Had not seen it on the lunch menu before but this was Sunday so may have been added. The calamari was excellent and only wished there had been a little more of it. This place is a gem and I really wish it were closer to home!! But we are going to be going often and bringing friends and family anyway.
This was our 3rd time at Cafe Ena. We had a negative 1st experience, but the 2nd time we went we had a great one. We gave it another try and left disappointed. I'm sorry to say we probabaly won't go back.
The food was presented in a desirable way, but it didn't have any flavor. Our fish entrees were dry and the guac needed more salt or some citrus. The ceveche was bland as well.
Our server was not attentive, and got parts of our order wrong twice. He did not check in with us after our food was delivers (by someone else) and we had no silverware. We waited for a while trying to get his attention and ended up stopping the person filling water to get us some utensils.
For the price we paid for our dinner, we left feeling less than satisfied. There are so many great restuarants in the area to choose from, so I think we will go to one that is consistently good.
Sea bass was a bit over cooked ( maybe the junior chef on an off-night), accompaniment to the scallops was quite boring, empanadas could have used a sauce or salsa. Service was excellent.
Very good food and great Sangria. We especially enjoyed many fish dishes and the Camerone caribe.
We had been to Cafe Ena before, but only for the Day of the Dead special menu. Those events are very memorable, but it was great to order off the full menu. Both of our meals were outstanding. Their sangria is great, in addition to their nice selection of wines.
