Have never been disappointing. It's a solid goto.
Very accommodating. We asked for a light dessert of fruit that wasn't on the menu and they made a special whipped cream with berries just for us. Delicious!
Service was attentive and exceptional.
Great service, wine special and the apps were delicious. Will be back again soon . We love this place.
Pros: Empanada appetizer, ambience, wait staff. Cons: Disappointed in entrees- Red Snapper special was lacking taste and the risotto it was served on was mushy. Halibut lacked flavor as well.
Creative and delicate fish dishes well prepared. Terrific appetizers including ceviche, calamari, and guacamole. Our group of 2 couples had no problem having a normal volume conversation.
Met at Cafe Ena at 1pm for lunch - made a reservation previously for 5 persons - restaurant had a steady flow of customers but not overly busy. Service and food was amazing - hostess and wait staff very friendly and attentive. The selection on the menu is very good and the quality of the food and presentation is outstanding. This restaurant is cozy and located in a cute neighborhood.
This is our second dining experience at Cafe Ena and again, it was amazing! From the appetizers to the dessert, the food was phenomenal. Our server made several suggestions that were right on par. We'll be back.
Great little place. Nice atmosphere. Fresh and very well prepared food. It's hard to make a decision on what to eat because everything sounds great. Nobody was disappointed in our group.
Wonderful find!! If you haven't tried-it's a must and bring a friend. The food is fantastic, the prices reasonable and the atmosphere is comfortable and cozy You can hear yourself think and speak. The guacamole is the best ever. The salmon cooked to perfection, the wild mushroom quesadilla excellent and a favorite. Their pork dish was amazing. Had not seen it on the lunch menu before but this was Sunday so may have been added. The calamari was excellent and only wished there had been a little more of it. This place is a gem and I really wish it were closer to home!! But we are going to be going often and bringing friends and family anyway.
This was our 3rd time at Cafe Ena. We had a negative 1st experience, but the 2nd time we went we had a great one. We gave it another try and left disappointed. I'm sorry to say we probabaly won't go back.
The food was presented in a desirable way, but it didn't have any flavor. Our fish entrees were dry and the guac needed more salt or some citrus. The ceveche was bland as well.
Our server was not attentive, and got parts of our order wrong twice. He did not check in with us after our food was delivers (by someone else) and we had no silverware. We waited for a while trying to get his attention and ended up stopping the person filling water to get us some utensils.
For the price we paid for our dinner, we left feeling less than satisfied. There are so many great restuarants in the area to choose from, so I think we will go to one that is consistently good.
Sea bass was a bit over cooked ( maybe the junior chef on an off-night), accompaniment to the scallops was quite boring, empanadas could have used a sauce or salsa. Service was excellent.
Very good food and great Sangria. We especially enjoyed many fish dishes and the Camerone caribe.
We had been to Cafe Ena before, but only for the Day of the Dead special menu. Those events are very memorable, but it was great to order off the full menu. Both of our meals were outstanding. Their sangria is great, in addition to their nice selection of wines.
We had a perfect evening at Cafe Ena. It was the night of a snow storm but we still decided to go. Most of their reservations had cancelled for the evening so we had a very quiet lovely evening watching the snow fall from the warmth of the restaurant.
Have dined here multiple times with friends and for special occasions. Have never been disappointed. Food is always delicious. Will definitely be back.
Our first time at Cafe Ena and it was amazing. The food was fantastic and the service perfectly attentive and very helpful with the menu. The guacamole is the best we've ever had. Beautiful presentation and all fresh ingredients, with no mushy avocados or additives to stretch. I had the salmon and it was prepared to perfection. Moist without being under or over cooked. My husband ordered the wild mushroom quesadillas and said they were excellent and no he would not share....We are planning to return and will bring family and friends. B
The South American food was excellent. We had very good guacamole with big chunks of fresh avocado, as an appetizer. For mains, we (party of three) had steak, salmon, and grouper. All imaginatively prepared. Service was excellent, as well.
Each time we go we like it more than the time before. We just love this restaurant. The food...all of it...is outstanding.
We had a 7pm reservation on Valentine's day. Not thrilled to arrive to find 20 or more others waiting for their reserved tables to open up. We were told it would be a 30-minute wait which was inconvenient and uncomfortable in the very overcrowded small waiting area but we were okay with that. After 45 minutes we asked about our table and were told they hadn't checked us in when we arrived so people who had come in after us were seated well before us. Got a table almost an hour after arriving. All of this would have been okay but the food was far below what we have come to expect from Cafe Ena. Dry fish, unappealing and bland risotto. Overall a very disappointing evening. As we left there were as many people waiting as there had been when we arrived. Obviously they booked at least twice the capacity they could manage! We will return one day I'm sure but never on a special occasion.
Chaos on Valentines Day- will have a hard time convincing my wife to return.
Came for Valentine's Day celebration. The house was full which prompted a wait for a table even with a reservation but staff was friendly and helpful and we were seated after about 30 minutes. We enjoyed the rack of lamb and sea bass with a good Tempranillo. Service was personable and prompt given the busy room and the meals were great. We have always enjoyed our visits here.
We were prepared to wait since we’d heard that was expected. Even with a 7:15 rez we weren’t seated till 7:50. Left standing coats on, at least we had a glass of wine.
Our seafood entrees were disappointing. Scallops simple and very little to support them. My sea bass was dry and I wasn’t able to finish. Flavors were good, maybe it was an off night.
Food was fantastic. Had to wait 35 minutes past our reservation time to be seated, then 8 more minutes for our server to greet us. Yes, it was Valentines Day, but seriously, get your sh*+ together and run a restaurant properly. To be fair, they were offering free glasses of wine to the people who were waiting past their reservation time. Good food though, but that is about it.
We had Valentine’s dinner reservations at 5:45. We arrived late at 6:10. They were running 30 minutes behind. The waiting space was very crammed but people were being patient and they served everyone free wine while they waited. Our dinner was excellent. Ceviche is to die for.
Very good food as usual. We frequent this restaurant on special occasions. It is well worth our drive from Rochester.
Great food every time. Good service. Great spot for a special dinner out or a nice dinner with friends or family. Menu offers something for everyone. Nice variety for a small menu! Nice wine list. Great people watching and a great neighborhood hot spot!
Looked to me like the restaurant was understaffed , same person was greeting, seating, taking drink & food orders and serving.. may not be back. Disappointing
Great vibes, interesting menu, good wine. Awesome appetizers. No one in our group was highly impressed by the main entrees. Wasn’t bad however. I recommend going here for wine and appetizers for sure. Not sure the main courses are fully worth the price.
We've been here a couple times and the food is always excellent. They have a rotating menu so it's not always the same thing. Would be nice to see more than one entre for a veggie option. Although the one on there was excellent. Will definitely go back.
While our group of four had the grouper, halibut and salmon, the common complaint was that each of our entrees were luke warm at best. We expect the food to be hot when served. Service was good, but the delivery of desserts was disjointed, with one receiving first and a break before the remaining three were served.
We each ordered something different and everyone loved their selection. Best guacamole in town! Great sangria, too!
Great food!!! Sea bass presentation nice and totally yummy
Good service and food selection
One of our favorites in the Twin Cities.
Cafe Ena was wonderful. The service was great and the food was super yummy. We had the guac appetizer, which is their most popular app and it did not disappoint. We both got fish (he got halibut special and I had sea bass). Both were amazing, but we agreed that we liked my sea bass better only because the sauce was so delicious. We will be back for sure!
GUACAMOLE WAS OVERPRICED, VERY FRESH BUT NEEDED SALT. SANDWICH WAS PRICED REASONABLY BUT LACKED TASTE. WE USED A LOT OF THE SALSA TO SPICE IT UP. ATMOSPHERE IS GREAT, LOTS OF WINDOWS
This is one of our favorite restaurants because the food is always good, the service is always friendly, there is never a high noise level (very important to me). For some reason there is never a wait for a brunch (after noon, anyway) on Sundays, so it is a place we count on for a last-minute brunch with friends after church.
As always, excellent food. Ceviche is a favorite. Citrusy and delicious on a chip. The mole is some of the best I've had. There is a sweetness to it unlike many moles that are bitter. Chilaquiles is very tasty and a good portion.
Café Ena is a charming little restaurant in the Kingfield neighborhood of South Minneapolis. They have many unique food options, including seafood, lamb, chicken and beef, all with a Latin American fusion flare. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who is adventurous and like to try new flavors. Great Ambience!
Normally we have a great experience at Cafe Ena. This was not the case this time. With reservations we waited almost on hour to be seated. Service we received once we were seated was very good though for the most part, with a few exceptions. Food was not up to its usual wonderful tastes. Fish was overcooked with a few of the entrees at our table and the other two entrees were drowning in sauce, totally overwhelming the normally yummy sea bass. The server asked us about having dessert even as my husband was still eating his main course. We were disappointed as it was very obvious (the hostess even told us!) that the restaurant terribly overbooked, to the point of putting a damper on our evening. We expect more at this typically yummy neighborhood spot. Hopefully just a night off its usual!
Great cozy neighborhood spot....tasty food, pleasant servers, BUT, overbooked and waited 45 min for table that had reserved with open table many days ahead of time! Nice that offered wine/ beer during wait, but such a lengthy wait is unacceptable! In spite of wait, will give it another chance b/c food is great and service lovely!
