The service was
Thumbs up.. service and food was outstanding. A winner!
Our server was wonderful. The food outstanding and I’m very picky.
Cons- Service was slow:
1. another couple was seated after us yet had the same server and same number items of food but left 30 minutes sooner. Not that I was in any hurry as I do enjoy savoring my meal, just expectation of timely service especially when other guest are served faster.
2. on refilling water glass, it was completely empty several times and for long periods of time as well. That is one of my pet peeves. Server should always make sure your glass never goes empty.
3. Dessert took longer to bring out than the entrees which was unusual.
Pros- food flavor and taste was phenomenal from the fries oysters appetizer, to the main courses of scallops, pork belly and risotto, snapper with grits, to the desserts of beignets and cream brûlée.
The valet parking service with the waitress asking for our ticket while she closed out our ticket was top notch and an experience I have not ever seen before at a restaurant. Special little touch that makes a difference.
Can’t say enough about the food. Don’t mind paying the prices when the quality is that good.
Cafe DuPont is one of the top three restaurants in Birmingham.
Reed was terrific and professional as well as entire staff. An excellent dining experience.
While visiting Birmingham we heard and read great things about this restaurant. The service was impeccable and the food is outstanding. We enjoyed a delicious bottle of Faust that paired perfectly with the rib eye. We split the entree as the portion was plenty. We started with the fried oysters and okra. A must and wow so good! Looking forward to returning on our next visit.
Incredible food and service. Memu was great as well. It was surprisingly loud in the dining area but overall a wonderful experience. Will definately be back.
Cafe DuPont is a must try restaurant in Birmingham. The food is incredible and the service is wonderful. Highly recommend
Ambiance was very nice, understated elegance I would call it. Staff was very attentive and service was fast and accurate. Carried a nice selection of spirits and wines. The fried oysters and okra was fantastic, as was the cheese plate. My wife who usually orders seafood, had a fantastic steak. I would have rated the food higher, but my scallops and pork belly was what I would call a very small portion. Food quality was excellent, but a couple more scallops would have made this a 5 star review!
We had the best experience here! The mood was perfect, food was amazing and our server was exceptional. Can’t wait to go back!
Great dinner in a rainy night.
We waited 30 minutes for a reservation. Got the 7 course tasting menu. Timing between some courses was perfect, but waiting almost 45 minutes between entrees was not acceptable.
The perfect menu, service, ambience, and location for valentines day.
Great as always
Tim and I greatly enjoy the fine food and atmosphere at Cafe Dupont.
We had a wonderful Valentine’s Day celebration.
Overall outstanding evening. Trina was a very good server. Cocktails were a bit slow coming out of the bar but they were quite busy. The fried chicken as always was fabulous as were everyone’s appetizers. The only voices of some disappointment was from the two folks in our group that ordered the snapper. Overall again it was great.
Our server was terrible for such a nice restaurant.
We enjoyed everything about Cafe DuPont having eaten there several times when they were in Springville many years ago! We finally made reservations for 2 the Thursday before Valentines Day! The table was ready when we arrived and we ordered the Old Fashioned and the French 75. They were very good drinks. We had the ribeye and scallops for dinner and both were delicious cooked perfectly with the right accompaniments! Our server suggested a Cabernet Sauvignon for dinner and it paired perfectly with our dishes. This is our new favorite restaurant in Birmingham!
Excellent service, relaxed meal with no rush and the food was fabulous.
First time but not the last! Probably the best meal I’ve had in Birmingham. Our entrees were amazing! So delicious and perfectly prepared. Also , the fried oysters and okra appetizer was so delicious . The drinks and food were excellent , while the White Chocolate Bread Pudding desert was very good but nothing similar to its name. Service was also First Class!
My only issue was trying to find the place. :-) Outside lighting, especially on their name, would have made it easier to find. Thanks to the staff member for directing us via phone.
Wonderful food, great atmosphere, and service was amazing! I am already looking forward to my next visit.
Every bite was delectable. Looking coward to my next Visit
Wonderful in every aspect
Scallops were perfection!
Food was great. Service got a little slow after dinner.
Overall, very nice dinner!
We had such a great time and will definitely be back!!
I loved this place. But i do have some reservations about going back. My wife and I had the 7 course and let the chef serve what he wanted. We like surprises and adventure, so why not. Everything was exquisite. The noise level is constant background noise because almost all seated guests are seated in approximately 100ft x 40ft rectangular hall. So it is a little noisy, but not bad. Until you have that one large table that cackle and laugh obnoxiously loud that fills the entire hall with their annoying sound.
The service was immaculate, ask for Reed if you prefer to know you're going to get a good server. I am a very large eater. Even the 7-course could not fill me up. I had a burger and fried oreos afterwards at Jack Browns. To be fair, i can eat 4 JB burgers and fries, so all I had was one burger, lol. But we were celebrating and wanted a fine dining experience and Cafe Dupont delivered perfectly. We brought our own wine and the server ensure our glasses stayed full.
It was very expensive, so, large eaters need to eat before going. I will most likely do it again regardless of my appetite. Thank you Cafe Dupont [Please consider increasing portions! :) ].
We celebrated our 30th dating anniversary, and Café Dupont is one of our consistent favorites. After a pleasing cocktail at the bar, Maria took care of our every need in the dining room. It was a memorable evening. Thank you!
Always outstanding food and service. We like to go early like today was at 5:15. We were the first ones there. Feels like it’s your own private restaurant
First timers to Cafe Dupont. Our waiter was very proper (loosen up a little). He was excellent in talking about the menu and what the chef was known for. From appetizers to main course to dessert the food was full of great taste and love from the kitchen. We will be repeat customers and would recommend to everyone and anyone that asks where should we dine?
Great food and service. Rivals the best in Birmingham.
All around 5 star restaurant. One of the members of the party described it as “dangerously good” because he could easily see himself going broke by trying out all the different menu items. Would highly recommend and I will be back again.
We had my daughter's birthday there. The service was excellent and the food was amazing! This was not my first experience at Café Dupont and it certainly will not be my last!
My mom and I went here to celebrate my birthday and the food was, as usual, delicious. They have the best fried oysters I've tasted. My entree was exquisite. I would say the only let down was the dessert, Mom had creme brulee and it did not have the expected "crack" when she put her spoon through the sugar, but she said it tasted good. The service is attentive and on point.
Best chef in Birmingham, they use local fresh ingredients and always have seasonal menu items. Some New Orleans, French & american influenced southern food but never too heavy. House made desserts are always amazing!
The couple seated next to us had both their phones on speaker for much of the meal which greatly detracted from the quality of the experience. They were far too loud with both speakers going.
It might be good for the restaurant to put a note on the menu to refrain from this conduct.
I am a total fan of Dupont and eat there regularly but this was awful and the couple continued in complete disregard of everyone around. Thanks.
Our second visit and even better than the first. The fried oysters and okra in a creme fraiche / something sauce was wonderful.... could have had that alone and been thrilled! Our server knew exactly what we wanted for wines. We just told her what we liked and what we were eating and she came back with a perfect pairing for both of us. Our dinners were the braised short ribs with root vegetables and I had the scallops over some kind of green combination and a fabulous sauce. The server suggested white chocolate bread putting with a ginger ice cream that was outstanding. I measure restaurants as to whether or not the meal is memorable and would I want to do it again .....and this restaurant and their food and their service more than surpass that criteria. Thanks Cafe DePont!
Took some out-of-town business associates to dinner and they really enjoyed it. They are from Philadelphia and liked all the Southern touches - the cheese plate, fried okra and oyster starter, and the seafood entrees especially. It was a great way to finish the visit-and of course, the beignets were a huge hit as well as a couple of the other desserts. One of my favorite restaurants since the restaurant started in Springville, AL.
