Cafe des Artistes - Puerto Vallarta Ratings and Reviews
We waited in the bar for maybe 20-25 minutes after our reservation time to get a table in the terrace garden, well worth it. Beautiful, charming and magical. Our waiters were friendly and perfectly attentive. The food was absolutely exquisite. My wife had fish of the day-mahi mahi for entre, perfectly prepared, organic tomatoes and burrata cheese - delicious. I had chilequiles con escargot as my appetizer- exquisite; and the shrimp con plumb and habanero mole - just wonderful and the mole was very subtle. For dessert we shared the fantastic strawberries. We are not big dessert eaters but we practically licked the bowl clean. A wonderful evening
We loved every single minute of it!
Two and a half hours for a meal was awfully long. The waiter disappeared in the middle for 45-minutes. No water, no drinks, no food, no check-in. 8,000 pesos should include great service. I’ve loved this place in the past but something has gone very wrong for service to have gone downhill this much.
Simply fabulous! The service is very attentive without being intrusive. The Seared Tuna was perfectly prepared! It was our anniversary, which we indicated when we used Open Table to mske the reservation. Cafe de Artista truly made it a special occasion. The menu variety should please anyone. The atmosphere in the garden is simply magical. This was our second visit - a year between visits - and they are consistent across the board. We fully intend to come back every year. The value for the quality of food and drink is far beyond what you get in the states.
This is my most favorite restaurant ever. I come to PV every yr and this is the one restaurant that I have to go to. I love the atmosphere for dining but everything about it is wonderful. I also buy something at the shop in the front. They have beautiful things!
Beautiful garden setting.
Service fair to poor. I should not have asked to have my water glass filled 3 times. this restaurant should have impeccable service. This did not happen Friday night
The pumpkin prawn soup had a very tiny single shrimp in it and some of the lamb in the entree was dry
The buratta and tomato salad was excellent but the tuna steak was just average
This is suppose to be the best restaurant in PV
Disappointed on this visit
The early bird meal was of average quality. The tartar was ok and the salmon was undercooked. The creme brûlée was actually more like flan brûlée. The chilaquiles with escargot had chopped pieces of escargot, but not much. Pretty presentation, but not much on flavor. The shrimp with mussels and tamales was excellent quality and flavor except for the tamales which were dry and tasted a bit soapy. The service was impeccable and friendly. The ambience indoors was warm and quiet. The space is beautiful and we would try cafe des artistes again.
There were 11 of us and we were seated, outdoors, in a very private area. It was quiet and lovely.
The Early Bird special is a pris fixe. ($595 pesos)available between 6:00 and 7:30, but you have to ask— was three perfectly delicious courses (three choices each). Within our group, most everything was ordered and everyone raved about their choices.
The Margaritas were considered a bit skimpy by all!
The service was impeccable. We had had amazing experience last year and returned again this year and were equally impressed. It is not inexpensive, but well worth it...occasionally!
This is my 3rd or 4th visit to this restaurant and it is always a great experience. The rooftop dining (open with lots of foliage) is beautiful and romantic. The food is excellent and the service very attentive. My wife and I celebrated an anniversary here in May and they brought us a beautiful dessert on a tray that was very impressive. Can't think of a lovelier restaurant anywhere. This one has become our favorite!
It pains me greatly to rate Cafe des Artistes 2 stars. We returned to the restaurant last night, bringing four friends with us for a birthday celebration, anticipating the same "WOW" we got last year... But it just didn't happen. Don't get me wrong, the food was exceptional, but the service was lacking. Our main server was Marcos and he never went out of his way to give us the true Cafe des Artistes experience.... And at the end of the meal he even pressured us to leave a 20% tip. This is something you just do not expect at a restaurant such as this. Boo!!
This is our fourth trip to Puerto Vallarta and our fourth visit to Cafe des Artistes. We have never been disappointed in the quality of the food, service or ambiance. The early bird menu is a wonderful value with three courses, each with several choices. Each course is always creatively plated. Not to be missed is the pumpkin soup served from a real pumpkin shell. The terraced garden terrace is our favorite area for outside dining.
This place has gone down the tubes. The prices have risen through the roof. $660 dinner for 4 people, chefs tasting menu with poorly matched wine, some of which wasn't good. That's without any cocktails. Its a total rip off. I've eaten here 20 times in the past 16 years, it was great - its not. Wont return.
