Cafe des Artistes - Puerto Vallarta Ratings and Reviews
One of our faves for the past 10 annual trips to PV but as with most things, popularity has not been kind to CDA. In the past, warm greetings from delicate and polite floor and host staff has been replace with a rough around the edges and harried team. Food quality is always good and was again this visit but gets a little boring after 10-years without much innovation. We always advocate for this establishment and hope the cuisine evolves some to match the absolutely most elegant venue in Vallarta. Don’t get me wrong, the kitchen is exceptional and it’s worth the trip and hefty gourmand price tag. Alas, we will probably come back anyway even if just for the “Flowerpot” dessert and gorgeous outdoor garden setting, if we can be fortunate enough to get a table there because even as an annual visitor and OpenTable VIP we weren’t granted that special access that brand ambassadors like us felt we deserved.
Beautiful restaurant and wonderful service. The ambiance is so incredible and for a special occasion I don't think you could do better. The portions are small which isn't a bad thing. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. My kiddos loved it and memories were made.
We always eat at Cafe des Artistes every time we visit Puerto Vallarta (which we do annually). It never disappoints with amazing food, service and that wonderful piano player and violinist. We LOVE the music.
One comment that I noticed this time. I was a bit disappointed to see diners in such an elegant restaurant wearing shorts! I saw one young man (not a teenager someone in his twenties) in shorts and a T-shirt with loafers. NOT ACCEPTABLE for a fine establishment like this one. If Cafe des Artistes wants to maintain high level 5 star rating they need to enforce a dress code. Shorts and T-shirts should never be acceptable at this restaurant.
Truly magical. Beyond superb. If you’re a foodie visiting Puerto Vallarta, this restaurant is simply a must. I especially recommend garden seating.
My only negative criticism is in regards to the live music. Being serenaded by live violin and piano is a nice touch but not when the repertoire consists “My Heart Will Go On” and “Time to Say Goodbye”. Most people probably gush for this crap but it would have been so nice to hear something you won’t find on a Starbucks easy listening album.
Regardless... go here now before God throws us out for eating the apple!
Had a nice dinner but was expecting something spectacular, service was good, the place is lovely. All in all it was ok, enjoyable. Don’t bring your own wine though, if you want to drink it there is no regular corkage fee, you’ll have to buy a similar priced bottle.
Came here for Christmas dinner. The 6 course meal was exhausting and just ok. I had to try it while in PV. I wouldn’t do it again. The ambiance was like a fairytale which was nice but for foodies wouldn’t recommend. Tried it once and it was enough.
Just want to point out how disappointed we are. I made this reservation over 4 months ago and specifically requested the garden. I show up and your front hostess and front manager looks us up and down, says something to each other in spanish, and say the garden is not available. I even called ahead to ask about the garden and she says it's first come first serve. As we walk past the garden there are 5 open tables and we were told there was no room in the garden. These tables remained open thru most of our meal. I thought they couldn't be reserved. As it seems they either put all the gay people on the roof or people in shorts. I say the gay comment because shortly after, a straight couple say they do not want the rooftop and are given a table in the garden. Not really sure as there was absolutely no reason to not let us sit in the garden and it's not like we had jean cutoffs on. We had button down shirts and nice golf shorts. If you did this in Vegas you'd be out of business. Won't be back again. Sad that that is your business model. The good thing is in PV there are lots of other restaurants to choose from.
