Café de France Ratings and Reviews
Lovely Valentine's Day dining experience. Perfect setting and spot on service. The small kitchen was a little overwhelmed that night with loads of Valentine's Day guests, so our entrees took longer than expected but the owner came by to apologize and offered to comp us a drink. The food was amazing and worth the wait. Come here for ambience and authentic, well prepared French cuisine. We will return.
One of the most impressive dining experiences in all of Central Florida. The chef is highly skilled and each dish is "handcrafted" to ensure quality and taste are perfect. The owner and his wife (chef) should be very proud of this dining establishment. Our party recommends the escargots, mussels, daily fish special and the rack of lamb. Don't miss the crème brulee. A full bar with an excellent wine list from many parts of the world accentuate the feeling of being in a hidden bistro in Paris.
My friend and I ate lunch at an outdoor table of Café de France. We both had absolutely wonderful Cosmopolitans. Refreshingly delicious. I ordered the onion soup as a starter and it was quite good...the cheese was bubbly with a very slight crust and the soup had a good consistency. My friend ordered the scallops with risotto and she said they were delicious, tender and moist. (I would have preferred a darker or more robust sear.) I ordered the mussels and frites and thoroughly enjoyed the dish. We split a tarte tatin that was yummy. Really enjoyed the food and I'd definitely return and recommend the restaurant. Bon appetit!
Mixed bag. 2 guests had the same seafood dish and one was very good and one was gritty. The other 2 gusests had lamb and again, the lamb special was very good while the lamb from the menu had little seasoning/taste which required a good dose of salt and pepper. Service was excellent. The restaurant was very quiet but it may have been due to the fact there were only 2 other tables occupied by 2 people. This was our first time back in many years and we probably will give it another try.
Loved it. We wanted to get together with our daughter in Orlando and she suggested CdF. I had been wanting to try it for a while, so we made reservations. Between the three of us we had the duck pate (great), mushroom soup (really great mushroom soup!), french onion soup (also great), filet mignon ("most tender steak I've ever had"), rack of lamb (great), and coq au vin (also great). For dessert we had creme brulee ("best ever"), vanilla pastry (good, not great), and house made vanilla ice cream (so creamy!). Will definitely go back. Looking very much to going back.
I love the food and service at this restaurant. I've visited before and will visit again; however, one warning: I asked for a bottle of pinot noir and told the server I'ld trust her. When the bill came, I discovered I was given an over $80 bottle of wine ($35 at the grocery store). That was a lesson learned.
Cafe de France is the best french restaurant in the Winter Park area. A very well managed family owned and operated restaurant. Nice food, good service and nice and quiet ambiance. If you are looking for good food, good service in a quiet and nice ambiance, Cafe de France.
Is the place. You know a restaurant is good when you see a lot of local people that are known by the owners and definitely are repeat customers.
This was our second visit to Cafe de France. We enjoyed our second visit as much as the first. We started out with the French Onion soup, which was quite good. Great flavor and tangy cheese. I had the beef bourguignon and my husband had the tenderloin bordelaise. Both were very good. The tenderloin was a nice size cut of meat with a wonderful sauce. The bourguignon was very rich tasting and complimented by the potato mash. We sat by the window and enjoyed the Christmas lights on Park Ave. We will be back again!
This was one of the best meals of my vacation! I'm surprised that it was not crowded as the food was superb and the service was competent and well-paced. The wine selection was very good. The dessert was one of my favorites, profiteroles, and the perfect ending for the perfect meal. I will return on my next visit to the Orlando area.
