Cafe Cluny Ratings and Reviews
I almost don't want to write this review because this is such a hidden gem at a quiet street corner. I have never had a bad meal here and can always get a table on short notice - that combination is very rare in NYC. The food is fabulous, the ambience is understated where one can actually have a conversation - even the romantic kind if the situation calls for it. Try it but please don't tell too many friends!
Cafe Cluny is located in my favorite part of the city. The restaurant is cozy, but the food is expensive for a not so special meal. The restaurant was very crowded. The waitress was very pleasant but her station was too large for her to pay proper attention. It is a hot spot. I would prefer a quieter restaurant with not so much of a scene.
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful meal at Cafe Cluny.e We were in NYC for just one night and decided to make reservations here. We arrived a few minutes early for a 8:00 Monday reservation so we grabbed a drink at the bar. The restaurant was very busy, but not too loud for conversation. Food was excellent. Our waitress apologized for it taking too long to come out with a complimentary dessert but we thought it was the perfect amount of time to enjoy our wine! Overall, a wonderful experience and would highly recommend to somebody looking for a warm, inviting atmosphere.
Spent a wonderful Thanksgiving evening here. The Thanksgiving Classic was the perfect size with every staple you would want, all of which was expertly prepared. On top of this, the salmon that my dad got was the best I had ever tasted. The whole vibe of the place was fantastic, with an intimate feel overlooking a cobblestoned street. I would highly recommend this place.
The manager was obnoxious!! I asked if they could substitute one vegetable for another and they refused. They have a firm "no substitution" policy. They are not accommodating at all!!!! The food was fine but the portions were small. Overall it is not worth going!
I love going to Cafe Cluny. They've changed the menu to incorporate brunch and lunch which has wonderful options. The grilled shrimp bowl was excellent and I'm a big fan of the zucchini fries. One day I'll get in for dinner; I'm very curious about that menu.
I had indicated with the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday but when the chocolate cake was served, there was no acknowledgement of that. Overall, we were not rushed and had a very nice lunch.
really charming west village restaurant with good food, diverse menu and a great crowd.
Only criticisms would be our server who forgot part of our dinner order, she seemed new so she was easily forgiven, and the seating can be tight on the banquette. All in All a great dining experience. Highly recommended.
The food was excellent; ambiance fine. However, the noise level was outrageously loud, especially with very "excitable" guests a short table away, making conversation amongst my friends very difficult.
Without the noise issue, Cafe Cluny is a lovely restaurant.
Absolutely delightful experience, perfect for a birthday dinner. Window-seat request was accommodated; waitstaff was attentive, warm, engaging. We arrived in time for the prix fixe menu (offered daily from 5:30–6:30pm), which includes an appetizer, main course, and dessert for $35. A wonderful deal. Would recommend the stracciatella with beet chips, the clams, the Cluny burger, and the profiteroles. Can't wait to return.
