Really nice people, good food, cosy, fast service, good wine, great for a nice night out!
This is definitely a great dining experience with delicious food and efficient/courteous service.
Excellent food. However after ordering cocktails our server took our dinner order & we had hardly drunk cocktails & dinner arrived. After that the timing of service was off.
Always a great experience! Favorite spot for dinner with friends and family.
An intimate dining experience with a great ambiance and excellent food. I have been going for years meeting my college friend for dinner and a chance to catch up.
We had a lovey time at our favorite table. Lucky to score the prix fixe. Such a cozy homey sophisticated neighborhood bistro. Total gem.
Always a great menu, staff and location.
I would definitely suggest it for dates with friends or family.
One of my favorites in the City and one of the best lattes as well!
Used to love Cafe Cluny and hadn't been there in a quite a while. The quality of the food has dropped precipitously. It was really mediocre and extremely expensive for not good food. The service and ambiance are still great but definitely not inclined to go back.
But tables are crowded, and it was a bit too noisy for me.
A fabulous go to for any type of dining!
Awesome evening with a fabulous dinner, can't wait to return.
We live in Philadelphia, and always seem to go back to Cluny when in NY. Consistently good food, service, and atmosphere! Love it!
Rushed us through our dinner. Restaurant was 1/2 empty. Removed dishes while still dining. Ordered second round of drinks. And took away wine glass from 1 of 2 diners and left one diner to drink alone.
food was delicious, and beautifully prepared and presented. our little table of three however was overshadowed by a larger group seated in our section, and the service though friendly, wasn't all that I would expect for a restaurant at this level. we would give it another shot some other time though.
My husband and I had a wonderful and romantic dinner. We loved the food, service and ambience! Next time we are in NYC we will definitely return for dinner at Cafe Cluny.
Incredible food and cozy ambiance and environment, though prices are pretty high on both food and drinks. Highly recommend the salmon, which comes pan seared on buttered melted leeks, and the tuna tartare with creamed avocado as an appetizer.
Always consistently good!
It’s a great standard. Simpler items well done. They do a lot well; for me the crispy skin salmon is to die for though, so that’s usually the one to beat. The drinks are pretty great too
Love Cafe Cluny! Great food, great atmosphere!!
Great food. Overall great spot.
This was a lovely restaurant, the most delicious salmon I’ve had in quite a while. Friendly efficient staff, lively west village ambience. ❤️❤️❤️
Service was adequate, although a bit patronizing. Food was not as French as expected; in fact, many items were more traditionally Italian than French (cacio e pepe, for example). Seafood ordered by other diners did not smell fresh (very fishy smelling) and that made thought of ordering it very off-putting. Bartender did not know how to properly mix drinks (gin and tonic was very watered down, for example). We won’t be putting this one on our list of places to which we wish to return.
I found the Menu not to be exciting and the food preparation satisfactory. The service and ambiance were good. If you’re looking for an experience, this is a good option. If you’re looking for a excellent meal, this isn’t the best choice.
My Cafe Cluny experience was lovely! Delicious food and stellar service. I did not rate it as outstanding, though, because I felt it was noisy for good conversation and was priced on the high side.
The service and food were both great. However, the waitress left in the middle of her shift without saying so. I thought that was a tad unprofessional. And, I thought that the portions were a bit small for the price (although the food is truly excellent).
Unless you want steak/frîtes, a burger or a tuna burger, the menu isn’t particular appealing. Reasonable wine list, nice ambiance.
Vacation celebrating my daughter’s birthday.
Just met a friend for dinner. The food was great and we were well tended to.
Sweet spot in the west village with some of the best vibes. There are traditional menus items on the menu , but the ingredients always contain unexpected, yet pleasant twist.
Did not enjoy the steak frites at all. Burger is much better.
IT WAS REALLY BAD. First they sat me across the bathroom even when the restaurant wasn’t even half full and I had made a reservation. Second, there was white particulates in their water. Third, their salmon wasn’t cooked very well and they left the pastry sheet on it. So when the sauce made it damp, it stuck to the salmon. Thus making it very hard to separate the salmon from the paper. Fourth, after asking to change seats, the place they put us in was the window seat. There were flies sticking themselves on the window, making the overall dinner experience horrible. Fifth, the waiter kept hovering over us while we ate, making it seem like we were unwelcome and that they were rushing us out. Again, the restaurant was not even half full yet. I am not mad just disappointed.
Always consistent service and food. Waiter didn't hover but was attentive.
I ordered the steak and it was over salted. The service was poor and the cocktails not great. The bill was very high; I found it over priced. Would not go there again.
excellent but pricey
I could not eat my meal because it was so salty and felt sick all last night
Had the famous Cluny burger. Not much taste, unevenly cooked, terribly overpriced - burger w/ roquefort, tax & tip $35!!!!!!!!!!!! Absurd. Not returning.
I love this place but it has become grossly over priced. Also some of the classic options (croissant, pastries) are gone.
Wonderful food, as always. Oddly, dinner was rushed - our entrees came out immediately after our salads were removed. (I thought I was supposed to be in France, not Florida).
Sadly, this was a very disappointing dining experience. We were escorted through the front bar/dining area to a back dining room and seated one table away from a woman using her “outdoor voice” which permeated the entire dining room. We contemplated the idea of asking to move to the front bar area, but decided to tough it out. Mistake, as she only got worse. She was louder than the 12 people sitting at all of the other tables combined.
We were greeted promptly by our waiter but then waited a LONG time for him to return to offer us water or anything else to drink. Meanwhile, an elderly woman using a walker entered after us and was served before us. Perhaps she called ahead and ordered in advance? She tried to get the attention of our waiter by shouting, “Yo!” to no avail.
Our waiter, Benjamin, told me that the entree I selected was “small” and that I might want to consider ordering an appetizer. We had already had appetizers at another place earlier, so his pitch seemed like up-selling. He also seemed condescending when he explained that a word in the name of a German beer meant “white” when my dining companion asked for a lighter beer. The waiter was generally aloof and distant, and he made no effort to connect with us on any level. The service was abysmal and the food was mediocre, made worse by the lack of attention we received. Our waiter seemed to have all his eggs in one basket, fawning over a couple at one table while universally ignoring everyone else. I’m guessing it was his first - and hopefully last - week!?!
To be fair, I had a great experience at this restaurant a few years ago. Tonight was a completely different experience. I won’t be back.
