Cafe Champagne Restaurant - Thornton Winery Ratings and Reviews
We were here Friday night and enjoyed it so much we came back Saturday night for dinner. We enjoyed the meat & cheese board which was huge and delicious.
Conor - our waiter - made some great suggestions on the wine and everything was to our enjoyment. He suggested the crispy artichoke hearts and I'm glad he did. Fantastic!!
Restaurant called as I was driving to meet friend there and informed me that their kitchen would stop taking orders at 1:10 p.m. Not sure why they allowed someone to make a 1:00 reservation if that was the case (they could have called one or two days before to let me know and see if I wanted to move the time of my reservation. Incredibly disappointed - won't go back!
Although the blackened seasoning made the swordfish inedible, everything else was great. Get the Lobster ravioli with scallops. The Calamari was excellent. It's a little pricey but your paying for eating at a winery in Temecula. It's expected. We are outdoors as the dining room indoors was empty and had a cold echo feeling. Not very warm or inviting. At least outside you had the view and a warm breeze!
Stopped by for an early dinner last Sunday. We enjoyed the champagne flight and the brie cheese. I also ordered the Cesar salad. It was just OK. It came with store bought tortilla strips, not what I expected on a $14 salad. I also ordered the Chicken saltimbocca. The chicken was on the dry side, it had ham but not cheese. It was topped with a tomato sauce and served with zucchini. This dish was a healthy version on your typical Italian Saltimbocca. Our table shared the butterscotch pudding, that was delicious. I also enjoyed our champagne flight. The bill came out to almost $300 for 4, which I felt was a bit high for the quality of food.
So this was an open air concert night with all the usual noise and bustle. We like this place because the concert food (not the regular menu) is typically good. With so many guests once the concert starts at 6 pm the wait staff and the kitchen is running flat outtill near 9 pm. So the trick is to arrive early and order quickly otherwise you may wait an hour for food. Of course there is plenty of decent wine to help 🎉
Service was mediocre at best, as was the food. Prices were outrageous. Artificial flowers on the tables at the overpriced restaurant. Took 40 min for the meal though only 5 tables, out of many, needed service. The chef blamed new staff on problems and miscommunication, instead of taking responsibility himself. Manager credited us for a meal, which was a good gesture. Would not recommend place to anybody.
Our group of six was very happy with our gathering and would come again. Our server was extremely helpful and cooperative when I requested that, if possible, she split the costs of our birthday girl between the others in our party. Although she didn't think it would be possible, she was able to make it happen, which we appreciated. My only complaint would be that when the split checks were distributed, no mention was made of the already-included gratuity on each check. I noticed it and mentioned it to some in our party. Thank you for a great afternoon with wonderful food and service!
Our visit coincided with a Friday night live music concert. At such events the a la carte menu is replaced by a more generic offering so that the kitchen can handle the demand from the concertgoers. Nevertheless, the food was good and the service excellent considering the energetic environment. Also as a concert, the noise level was by definition going to be higher than usual.
We come here about once a week and are members of the club. We spend a lot of money in food and hardly use our free tastings. On Friday night we showed up at 6:05p to do some tastings with an out of town guest. We were told that we can't use our tastings on Friday nights and that an email was sent about it. When we signed up we were told we could come every day and taste for free as members. We went across up the road to miramonte where you can use your free tastings whenever is convenient.
The place had great food my boyfriend and I split the Ricotta Cheese and Lemon Oil Pancakes and the Lox Benedict. They were both delicious and both came with a free glass of champagne. We sat outside on the patio and it was a beautiful day out, we were a big group (8 of us) and they were very accommodating even when one of our party couldn't come. Everyone loved their food. We also got the champagne flight which was delicious and tried several of their wines. It's not inexpensive but I found it to be considerably more reasonable then most of the wineries in the area. Would definitely go again.
