About Cafe Carlo
Cafe Carlo is a friendly, unpretentious Canadian bistro located in Winnipeg’s Little Italy neighborhood. Cafe Carlo’s warm, comfortable atmosphere has been a staple in Winnipeg’s dining scene and continues to be considered among the city’s best restaurants since it was established in 1989. The atmosphere and the décor have evolved from the restaurant’s humble “rummage sale” chic beginnings. The owners and employees believed that a great restaurant simply was meant to be “about the food”. The passion of the very first employees and their love of food & drink remain intact to this day. We want to share the foods and beverages we love, that the world loves, with each of our guests.

Cafe Carlo Ratings and Reviews
We all 4 of us had a very enjoyable evening at your restaurant this past Friday evening. Service was great as was our meals.
Withhout hesitation I would recommend Cafe Carlos to friends and we would return for a meal.
My one and only comment, not a complaint, was that my pasta was under slightly cooked, but it was so tasty I carried on.
Thank you and we will see you again.
Since there was only two of us, we were placed on the main aisle which I was a little concerned with but the servers were very aware of you and weren't hitting your elbow each time the came past. Our server Bonnie was amazing. So attentive at all the right times and it was like we had known her for years. The menu was excellent and the taste of the food was top notch. The bathrooms were the cleanest I have seen in a long time and this just shows how attentive the staff is to everything. The restaurant was nice and warm on a cold winter night which helped when people came in or out and a cold blast of air travelled down the main aisle. It warmed up quickly each time and was actually a little refreshing. Our server ended up giving us a complementary dessert for no reason in particular. We will definitely be back. It was a date night for my wife and I and worked out perfectly. And the left overs the next day were so good!
I've been here twice now, once for a birthday and once for our anniversary. The first time I had the goat cheese salad followed by the butternut squash ravioli in browned butter hazelnut sauce. The second time I had the same thing again because it was just so good. I love the texture of the hazelnuts in the sauce combined with the fresh pasta. The calamari starter is also delicious; light and crunchy with a good dipping sauce. The food portions are a BIT small; my husband commented if we hadn't gotten an appetizer and starter salads (and dessert), the main by itself wouldn't have been enough for him, and he had the gnocchi which is something you would expect to be filling. That being said the food is very tasty and we both liked everything we ordered; I would definitely go again. They have local art on the walls and overall I find it to be a nice, cosy atmosphere.
Excellent meal in a quiet, cozy atmosphere. So many restaurants are too loud to have a conversation in, but this one was perfect for our meeting over dinner with work colleagues. The half-rack of lamb I ordered was delicious and cooked perfectly. One of my colleagues had strict dietary requirements that the kitchen was able to accommodate.
It was my first time eating at this restaurant, i was hoping they had good coffee......and they did, it was actually really good that i had more than usual. i ordered the fish tacos which i have had on several occasions at different restaurants, but i enjoyed theirs the most, from taste to presentation, it was excellent!
Cafe Carlo is one of my go to restaurants where I know I will never be disappointed. The food and service are great and it has a warm, comfortable atmosphere. Their signature Fett Chile dish is so good that it’s hard to order anything else. But I ventured out and had the home made gnocchi with beef ragu and it was heavenly. All in all, definitely worth the trip!
We are lucky to have this cafe in our neighbourhood. They are always welcoming and kind and accommodating; just delightful. This is a sophisticated place but also a wonderful choice for families who want a special meal. Our six year old twins were on their best behavior and had a blast.
