We were recommended this restaurant by our valet, Rocco at the Marriott hotel. He told us if we wanted authentic homemade Italian food that this was the place to go. We were not disappointed. I wish we had an Italian restaurant this good in Los Angeles.
Great Evening for our 33rd Anniversary!! Thank You!
WE HAD A WONDERFUL DINNER, AS USUAL. THE ITALIAN FOOD IS FRESH AND CREATIVE. THE WAITSTAFF IS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND ATTENTIVE. IT IS MY FAVORITE RESTAURANT.
Everything about Capriccio is SUPERB! The food is inventive, the staff is great, and the ambience is excellent!
Nice Northern Italian Restaurant with a great wine list, knowledgeable wait staff, and a bistro/continental atmosphere.
Food was absolutely fantastic. Waitress was very friendly, very accommodating and very pleasant.
I haven't been there in many years, went last week on Monday night and was blown away how fantastic this place is. If you want your dining experience to have a lasting impression, go to Cafe Capriccio.
Service was amazing from start to finish! We had several people attend to us and all were knowledgeable and friendly. Our waiting, whose name I unfortunately didn't get, gave us some 'pro tips' for ordering and it was all fantastic!
Never had a bad experience there, and I probably never will.
Will most definitely come again. My companion was a regular patron and loves the food. We'll be back!
As always, I greatly enjoy this place, the workers and the other patrons are always delightful, and the food can’t be beat especially the fresh house made pasta!
This is a top capital area pick. I rarely give 5 stars but this restaurant is worth the praise.
Great to visit
Everything was so delicious! The greens and beans, the ravioli, the meatballs, fresh pasta in squid ink: all amazing.
Café Capriccio has never disappointed me, and did not on this visit. The welcome was warm, the service friendly but professional, and the food was excellent. The house-made charcuterie was particularly good. The wine list isn't overly long, but it's well-chosen with some very good mid-priced bottles from Italy and California.
The restaurant should describe itself as a taverna, as it is below street level, and has a somewhat dark interior with wood paneling.
The ingredients in all our dishes—antipasti, primi and secondi—were without exception fresh.
The shortcomings were primarily in the tomato sauce that overwhelmed any dish it was a part of.
This is a problem with most Italian restaurants in the US, but it simply does not reflect authentic Italian restaurant cooking.
Additionally, my pasta was way over cooked. And the waiter switched two of our secondi, which we didn’t realize until too late because of the over-saucing of both dishes.
At just under $200, before tip, we expected better.
Café Capriccio never disappoints. It has been our “go to” place for years. While at our house a friend read one of our Capriccio cookbooks and HAD to go there. And...she had to buy her own cookbook while there!
The food was excellent, service very good, overall a nice place to bring a visitor to the area.
I will definitely be back....A little pricey but food and portions were great.....The service was good but I felt like we were being rushed a bit......
My mother and I had been looking forwrd to a wonderful meal and all the charm that Cafe Capriccio has to offer--you did not dissappoint!
We were celebrating our first anniversary and happened to be in Albany for a graduation. I found Cafe Cappriccio on Google. What a happy random choice!! Amazing food. The Nduja is as spicy as advertised.
My companion and I wanted to have a meal before going to Park Playhouse. I hadn't been to Cafe Capricio in several years and was looking forward to it very much. Just as we were arriving, I suddenly felt slightly ill with an attack of vertigo and found myself sitting in the restaurant not even wanting to hear about the risoto, ravioli and fish dishes of the day, let alone order one. The wait staff was very kind, brought bread and ginger ale right away and I managed to eat some wonderful chicken egg drop soup while my companion tried not to rave about the delicious roasted fennel sausage and grapes dish and a fresh homemade pasta in a tomato sauce of delicious San Marzano tomatoes that he had ordered. Needless to say, we hope to come back soon. Creative, authentic meals, lovely, quiet and charming atmopshere and attentive, kind wait staff, a winning combination.
Everything was terrific with the BIG exception that 2 of the 9 dinners in our party came out of kitchen at least 10 minutes later than the others ... disappointing to say the least
One of her favorite places always a great meal great food great ambience great service need I say more I am great how are you happy birthday so what are you 4040 so what are you about 4040 today is this your 40th we have a conflict coming up and so we’re going to move it to next week that’s OK
Everything we had was wonderful. Just go!
Great food, people.
Excellent homemade dishes made to order with fresh, local, and tasty ingredients, including homemade pasta and mozzarella. Perfect service, attentive but not intrusive. The only downside is the underground location makes it a little dark, but it is cozy. It's more expensive for similar quality in Europe, but the quality of the dishes and preparation reflect the price.
Dark, romantic setting with excellent Italian dishes. Everyone was happy with their food. We were their out of town for birthday party. The staff surprised the birthday girl with a candles on a scoop of ice cream. Was a special evening.
Amazing local, pasture-raised meat. Fall-off-the-bone pork Osso Bucco! Great service & espresso too.
It was everything and more than I expected. The food was wonderful!
A pleasant evening f fine food, drink, conversation in a quaint environment. Highly recommend Cafe Capriccio for the many reasons listed in the review
I went there for Father's Day and had a wonderful meal and the atmosphere was beautiful. We had Puttanesca: Bright & savory tomato sauce with olives, capers & anchovy, Risotto: with roasted duck sausage, sundried tomatoes, fresh cantaloupe, goat cheese, garlic & herbs, Lamb Abbacchio alla Romano: Local Highland Hollow Farm pasture raised. Simmered with aromatic vegetables in wine sauce; serve with potatoes and vegetables, Beef Scallopine: Thin slices of beef tenderloin sauteed with artichoke hearts, spinach, fresh tomatoes, garlic and sherry. Roasted potatoes and vegetables. All these dished were prepared with love and it came through in each dishes flavour profile.
Dessert was Tiramisu, Limoncello mascarpone cake and Chocolate pate with chocolate ganache and espresso. What a superb end to such a grand evening.
The food here is phenomenal and I love that the chef use local and quality ingredients. The pasta and bread are homemade and just spectacular.
We liked the old city ambiance, plus the up-to-date dishes. Husband's pasta with chicken and sausage, and my steak were delicious. Two interesting mixed drinks and, sadly, no dessert. Wonderful evening.
The greens and beans appetizer was fabulous. The Eggplant was wonderful but my dining companions had the sliced tenderloin and were extremely disappointed, in fact one didn’t even eat it. The menu was somewhat limited.
Food and service was fantastic! The pork shank and risotto are worth having again. If you are a tiramisu fan - theirs is really wonderful!
You can’t go wrong. Food is fresh and they’ll modify if they can .
Amazing service and amazing dinner!!!!!
One of our very favorite Albany restaurants. Consistent excellent quality of food and service.
I was disappointed in the lack of substitution allowed. I would have preferred pasta with my steak but could not make that substitution. I thought the entree prices were on the high side for the quantity.
