Great place to eat. Food was traditional Italian cuisine. Went there for a business dinner and service was great too!
The wait staff was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. The best pasta we have had is any Italian restaurant in the capital district. Perfect volume on the back round music to carry on a conversation yet still here the music
Best rissotto in the area. Always comfortable to be at.
We love eating at Cafe Capriccio! We always reserve to eat there on our birthdays and we also bring our out of town friends to Capriccio! They love it too!
Love this place and enjoy the customer service. Drinks are always great food is to die for !
Service is top notch and food is the best in the Capital region
I thought the food was delicious and the servicer knew her menu.
What was disappointing was no one offered to top off our coffee and the bread that was packed with our
take away left-overs was not ours from our table. All that was eaten from our loaf was one end heel, the loaf we were packed was more than half gone. It just gave me an uneasy feeling about my leftover meal.
But dessert was wonderful.
The risotto with shrimp and beets was unusual and delicious, as was the beans and greens. The service was friendly and efficient. Having the small/large plate option really allows you to fine tune your order. It is difficult to choose from so many appetizing choices. This place is reliably wonderful.
The food here is always superb. Everything is cooked to perfection. The biggest struggle is deciding what to have from so many great choices
The food and service is out of this world. I would recommend Cafe Capriccio to anyone looking for a amazing itialian meal.
an old favorite for our family special occasions. very Italian, hip and old fashioned at the same time. one of Albany's best.
Anniversary dinner with my fiance. Had the veal, it was amazing. Skip the neopolitan cheesecake though.
It was out first visit! We had a great experience and will most definitely be back! Already recommended to 2 friends!
Food and service were excellent. It’s a small place and there were plenty of other people there but it didn’t feel crowded and didn’t seem loud. Hadn’t been there in years but looking forward to going back soon.
Really impressed with the food. Excellent salads, particularly the calamari and the caprese. Dressing on mixed salad was excellent. Entrees all very good, particularly the risotto and the fresh pastas. The inside is a little tired in terms of décor but a cozy place that you would never suspect from seeing the outside.
Love this place! Always consistent and delicious. Always something new and interesting to try. Great atmosphere. Excellent service.
Never disappointed by the risotto and gelato. The butternut squash with sausage that my husband had last time was all mine this time. I tried a new recommendation on white wine and it was delicious too. We will be back soon.
The food is always outstanding!
We loved our anniversary meals at Cafe Capriccio this week. Everything was great!
We were unaware there was only a prix fixed menu at $85 a person. Then was charged for a bottle of wine that wasn’t ordered. Service was not stellar, nor was the food. Sadly unimpressed.
Heard wonderful things so made reservations for NYE. Was advised of a fixed menu the day of. Appetizer, salad and pasta dish were delicious. Unfortunately both of us were extremely disappointed with main entree making $85 per person seem like a waste of money. Would go back to try normal menu but don’t recommend on a fixed menu night. Was disappointed.
New Years Eve. Everything was excellent, except a little pricey. $250 for two with three drinks
The New Years Eve pre fixe menu was a surprise as it was not advertised or noted on their website. We were disappointed that we weren’t able to select from the regular menu, but the options were sufficient. For the price we paid it would have been nice to include a bottle of Prosecco instead of just a glass. The service was outstanding! The noise level was a bit loud for our liking as the space is rather small. My date’s meat was overcooked, but he enjoyed the flavors. I’m not sure we will dine there again though.
I ordered my steak medium rare and it was closer to well done. It’s the first time I had a bad experience hear. Otherwise the food was okay.
It was like dinner at Nonna’s house. Some of the best food I’ve eaten at any restaurant. So many of the ingredients for the food are prepared in house by the owners, you taste the authenticity of true home made (meaning from scratch): pasta fresh mozzarella, sopersotta, prosciutto, etc.
My wife and I have dined at the majority of restaurants in Albany. This was faaaaaar and away the worst. The service is beyond bad. We were seated by i guess a hostess. Within 1 minute we were asked for drinks, I don't think we had even looked at the menu. About 2 mins later a different lady comes and just stands at our table and impatiently looks at us . I told her we weren't ready. She came back about 2 mins later and did the same thing. This is the first time I'd seen my mom and brother in over a year, we wanted to chat. Learn to read a friggen table. We then got another server who eventually took our order. None of the servers (4)! ever gave us their name. He got very average salads. No house salad with the meals. 30 plus dollar plates and no salad? 8 bucks for a 2 star salad. My mom wanted the ravioli special. The place opens at 5 it was 6 and they were already out of it? My wife got a risotto special that was decent. Mom's hubby got veal scalopini and liked it. My mom and I got Tuscan meatballs. Absolutely terrible! Worst pasta I've ever had. After we got our meals no server ever came back by the table. Tiramisu was good. I read reviews on this place that were mostly great, I wonder if there is another cafe cappricio and I went to the wrong place. This place is a disaster. So many gems in Albany, stay away from this stinker
The best Italian in Albany far and away. I always stop here when I come visit my parents from California.
this place is great. food is consistently good. prepared to order, fresh, and creative. service is excellent,
The food was terrific. Staff were excellent. Our favorite restaurant.
We went to Cafe Capriccio on a Sunday after a Christmas event. We were happy that they opened the doors before 5 PM and welcomed us in. The staff was very attentive as we were the only ones there but we didn't feel like we were intruding or early. The appetizers - Eggplant with four cheese and the fennel sausage were excellent; could have been a meal with a side of pasta. The house made ravioli were good, but rich and the dough was a bit thick for my taste, I like a thin delicate ravioli - to each their own. But the Veal scallopini was very good. Maybe Cafe Capriccio could advertise a pre fixe menu for the All Saints Lessons and Carols day that could open at 4:30! I am sure they would get alot of folks coming since nothing is open on Sunday in Albany.
We haven't been to Cafe Capriccio in a long time, but we will return.
Great meal. Great wine recommendatikn from our waitperson. Decor and ambience very retro—in a good way. I loved this place
Good food and service. Reasonably priced. We had a 545 reservation. As it got busier the staff seemed more scattered and less attentive. Lighting above our table had cob webs hanging from it and was too bright compared to the rest of the dining area. They were very accommodating for gluten free and vegetarian preferences for some of our group of 8 for a holiday party. Not family/kid friendly. We were disappointed since we requested 2 high chairs in our open table reservation and they did not have any when we showed and stated they did not even check the special request so we had to hold our children the whole time. Would have been good to know ahead of time so we could bring them or cancel our reservation. We declined dessert/coffee then another server still brought us menus and then the wrong check after I already paid ours. Attention to detail matters for us.
Expensive but worth it.
Wife and I had drinks and specials - with tip about $100. Fairly pricey for a two-person meal, but both of the specials were excellent.
I will go back again when the right occasion arises.
On a busy night the food and service were very good
Great restaurant. It is a little hidden, but great food.
Cafe Capriccio always delivers - freshly prepared , authentic Italian dishes with wonderful fresh vegetables and house made pastas. I always want everything on the menu and wish I had room to finish off the bread for dessert! My friend and I began by sharing the caprese salad - can't resist the house made mozzarella and the tomatoes were simply sweet and luscious. Then we share the evening's ravioli - stuffed with artichoke and ricotta in a most delicious pink sauce. Had to dip bread in to finish the sauce. How do you pick from the entrees? Menu changes primarily with different preparations for the chicken, veal and steak. My friend had the evening's veal scallopini and I chose the osso bucco. Both were perfect, surrounded with a mely of seasonal vegetables. The aromas were intoxicating. Try to save room for dessert too!
Such a lovely, slow, quiet meal. Eggplant appetizer divine.
Service is excellent
Try the risotto (house specialty)
Special Manhattan best ever
Can't say enough good things
2nd time eating here and I lived it again! Thanks for a great dining experience!
Awesome food! Every dish was amazing. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I would go again and again and again!
