Thanksgiving lunch. All excellent!
Quality of food has gone down since I was there in February 2020
Very pleasant and quiet ambiance. The food was excellent and original.
My first visit to Cafe Boulud since late-summer re-opening. First impression was really positive - table spacing was excellent and much more than 2m. The room was busy but not crowded. The sound was at a very pleasant level - easy for conversation at our table for 4. The service was excellent - attentive, no unnecessary waiting, helpful. The food was excellent too - we had a range of selections, including Calamars Frit, Confit de Canard, Rotisserie Chicken to mention just a few - all excellent! We live 2 blocks from the restaurant and have visited several times before Covid-19, but this was by far our best experience and has influenced us to want to return soon.
Excellent food, staff and atmosphere. I’d recommend for a date or outing with pals.
The food is below average, very disappointed. This is not what I would expect from the French cuisine and the dishes are definitely overpriced for its quality and creativity.
Steak was tough. Menu small. Service mediocre at best. Very disappointing.
Fantastic experience. We were surprised with scrumptious, freshly baked madeleines to congratulate my guest on his very special day
Turbot. Perfect.
Great to see Dennis as always. Thank you always!!
Very enjoyable!
Beautiful experience and ambience. Food On the dinner menu was bland and not exciting. Perhaps will try their lunch or brunch. The ispahan macaron was good, but not as I had expected - not the same as Laduree.
The food and our waiter Zak were fantastic.
Great attentive service.
I would describe the food as creative. I will start with the warm burrata, with grilled Ontario peaches with bone broth, the rich broth complements the burrata, the black truffle do not get lost in this dish. your taste buds will jump for joy. It’s done different and right.
Second dish, was the steak tartare. Grains of mustard dollops, pickled onion complements the steak, the truffle gets cancelled out because the mustard seeds over power it. None the less delicious dish. Comes with two baguette slices, baby lettuce leaves and home chips.
Third dish, Confit De Canard: if you never had duck before this is the best way to first experience duck.Fall off the bone duck leg, crispy skin sitting on a bed of farro carrot purée and thinly sliced fennel. Also the foie gras was grilled, and it’s now one of my preferred ways to have it.
Lastly.. DESERT! Must get, leave room for.. Grapefruit Givre
Great experience, highly recommend
While Cafe Boulud has been a favorite of ours since it’s inception, our last meal there was a big disappointment. This was one of our first dinner out since Covid and we were really looking forward to it. But the service was sketchy, the prices dramatically increased and the food very basic. A bottle of Whispering Angel Rosé (which retails at the LCBO for $28) was offered at no less than 100$! We understand the consequences of Covid and the need to make up for lost revenue but at least, increase your service levels to match your super luxury prices. Service was poor, bread not offered, waters not refilled and my friends fish was cold. However one pleasant aspect was that social distancing allowed for a much nicer dinner as the restaurant’s usually very high noise level had been reduced to a pleasant conversation ambiance.
Good was really great, especially enjoyed the oysters. The confit de canard was made nicely, as was the charcuterie appetizer
Always good. Off a bit from Pre-Covid times with reduced menu and ambience is not the same - but this is true of most venues these days.
The place is very comfortable, like eating at home but with great service. The staff are very helpful and everything was served at the right time. The chicken was very tender and well done. The chocolate cake dessert was the best I tasted. I will certainly go back and recommend it to my friends.
Always a nice time! Food is great. Atmosphere is great. Service is great.
Nice night out, food was excellent, beverages are very pricey but in keeping with the vibe. A nice bit of glamour in these dull days. We'll be back.
Our experience was fantastic. It was outstanding. It was an anniversary dinner and we were treated with kid gloves. I cannot express how great from the safety standards to the extra special touch of madeleines celebrating our special evening.
Great Service and Great value.
All the Best...More to the Cafe Boulud Team.
Anniversary
Our family of 5 enjoyed a dinner at the Cafe as part of a “staycation”.
We enjoyed the oysters and calamari appetizers and then each ordered a different main course.
The wait staff were very friendly; attentive but not invasive.
After finishing our mains, ranging from fresh turbot to steak frites and my personal fav, the shrimp cappellaci!!...we asked to meet the Chef...something we hoped would inspire our teenager as she looks to undergrad studies.
Chef de Cuisine, Nicholas Trosien, was most generous with his time. His passion for his craft, and enthusiasm for meeting guests was apparent as he described his career journey to our daughter. The teamwork approach in a culinary environment was evident in all aspects of our service experience. We finished off the meal with Molten Chocolate Cake and Bergamot Meringue Tart...oh the perfection of the latter! Hoping to come back and enjoy a weekend breakfast sometime soon!
Awesome food, and such kind staff. Thank you!

Very nice breakfast. Staff was excellent. Lovely decor.
Exquisite service and excellent cocktails. The food was a little underwhelming but still quite good.
During Covid restrictions - brought a friend for a birthday lunch. It was not busy at all (Aug 2020). The service was great. The food was very good, but I had high expectations for this restaurant and I wasn’t as impressed as I thought I’d be. The chips that came with my steak tartare were quite stale. The steak itself lacked some taste.
The kale and quinoa salad to start was good.
We shared their famous miniature madeleines for dessert. They were good... but if I can stop eating a dessert, that’s not a great sign. (I’ve got such a massive sweet tooth).
Very nice place and staff was so friendly by wishing me happy birthday
Thoroughly enjoyed our first in-restaurant dining experience in Stage 3. All safety protocols were in place and we felt very comfortable and welcome. The food was impeccable as always. The duck confit and dover sole were prepared and presented perfectly. Because of physical distancing, it was a quieter vibe than usual, but this didn't take away from a lovely dining experience. Dennis was attentive and friendly. We missed seeing all the familiar faces at Cafe Boulud and look forward to our next meal here.
The Steak and Eggs on their brunch menu, is a MUST try.
A treat after being sequestered at home. Fine food and service. A favourite place.
Food was PERFECT!! :). Nice to come back and eat there and see/talk to Dennis as well
steak was perfect, shrimp pasta was a bit too firm (pasta)
Best service ever. Delightful ambience. An amazing place for a classy meal.
Very good meal. Fresh bread and room temperature butter were a perfect way to start the repast. Mousse de foie gras was silky and savoury. The rotisserie chicken was plump and juicy. The calvados soufflée ended a very agreeable meal.
Went for brunch. Excellent in every category. Plan to go again.
Good foods and great service. We enjoy a beautiful diner there. Highly recommended.
The welcome was very polished and sincere. Good suggestions for the meal as well as valuable assistance from the server and sommelier to help me choose good wines to complement the terrine and the lobster.
It's a very high-end restaurant, and I love it. My only concern is that the waiter just never looked our way. I feel like I spent half the time trying to get his attention. He'd walk right by and not give the subtle eye contact check-in of someone on their game.
everything was fine. service was great as was the food. waiters able to order me something off the lunch menu.
