Cafe Bizou - Sherman Oaks Ratings and Reviews
I’ve been coming for years, as a go-to restaurant.i found the food to be very disappointing , this time.Service was less attentive , not as friendly. The crab cakes were greasy, fishy and caused me to have reflux. I will return st some point and hope my experience will be better.
I had never been to Cafe Bizou, but it has been a landmark apparently for many, many years. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable, and the ambiance very old school with wood paneling on the walls, which was very cozy and inviting. Good for large groups as there was a wedding shower and a baby shower while we were there. Would highly recommend this great restaurant!
We always enjoy Bizou. It is relaxed, warm and homey, conducive to conversation. The food is chef-prepared. You feel that the meal is specifically for you. Portions are light. Everything is done thoughtfully and deliberately, both food and service. I have never had a bad meal here. I do miss the Pasadena location, much closer to where I live, but the Sherman Oaks location will just have to do, though parking is difficult.
Love Bizou, been going since they opened. I took my daughter to lunch for her 21st birthday. It was lovely and the food was delicious. I was looking forward to their special that day, which for years has been beef wellington, but it has been taken off the menu. I had the steak poivre and my daughter had the rack of lamb. Both excellent choices. They even gave her a slice of flourless chocolate cake with a candle in it for dessert. We'll always go back.
Definitely a favorite. We brought friends with us who had never been here and when asked what we recommended we said EVERYTHING. Delicious food, very kind about substitutions, good service and just a comfortable feeling. Wish it was closer as we have to come from over the hill.
it's a nice neighborhood restaurant, tables a bit close to each other, and the food is good, but they looked like they needed more servers for the amount of people that were there...the Sunday night we went with a 5:30 reservation, the restaurant was very crowded soon after and it was hard to get timely service, the servers, all were very polite, but they all looked very busy...no one came by to check and refill drinks and check on our dinner progress, we had to stop a server a few times for refills and bread, and we were done with dinner for a long time before being asked about dessert. We had also indicated on the reservation this was a birthday dinner, but this was not communicated to our server.
Everything was wonderful EXCEPT TOO MANY PEOPLE crowding around the entrance &
restaurant waiting to be seated. Too many people are showing up and there is not enough
space for them to sit or wait to be seated. Either enlarge the restaurant or add someplace
for people to wait to be seated.
This is a favorite spot for years, which is why we took my son for his 24 birthday this past week. I made sure to tell the hostess when we checked in it was his birthday, then told the server before my son arrived. She said they would bring out cake with a candle. We waited and waited.....nothing. I felt embarrassed to ask again in front of my son, so we paid and left. 😖
I was excited to meet my friend here, as we were coming from opposite directions and this ws the 1/2 way point. I was disappointed. The entire experience felt like we were caught in a 1985 timewarp. And not really in a good way. The decor was outdated, the dining areas dark, and the food was just okay. The French onion soup was really salty - ( it tasted like there was canned broth in it). The fish and chips were good, but when I asked for tartar sauce, I was told there wasn't any. Then a moment later they brought egg salad to me that had been "more liquified." My lunch companion asked 3 times to get parmesan cheese for her pasta with no success. This place needs an overall. Granted the dinLA lunch was only $15, so it was a value. However, the regular priced menu is higher and seems a stretch.
Excellent food and value for dinela, but even the regular menu appeared to be very affordable for the quality of the food. My party of 6 had a lovely time and the service was very attentive. The one issue I will mention is the “guest reception” area, where the host’s table meets the bar. The area is a bit claustrophobic and could benefit from effective space planning.
We returned to Cafe Bizou for its DineLA fixed price offering which included an appetizer, main course, and dessert for $29 per person. All components were delicious with generous portions, all served promptly by the professional wait staff. Highly recommended!
