Cafe Bizou - Sherman Oaks Ratings and Reviews
Excellent food and value for dinela, but even the regular menu appeared to be very affordable for the quality of the food. My party of 6 had a lovely time and the service was very attentive. The one issue I will mention is the “guest reception” area, where the host’s table meets the bar. The area is a bit claustrophobic and could benefit from effective space planning.
I had a reservation and waited 20 minutes to be seated. At least four parties were taken ahead of me. Our lunch took over two hours. Our server forgot our order and did not ask us if we were okay. Our cocktails tasted different (although they were the same) and our entree looked like it had been sitting under the heat lamps for some time. I had to ask for the check three times.
My husband and I came here for Dine LA. We had to wait almost 25 minutes past our reservation, and when we were finally seated, nobody came to our table for quite some time. Our waiter was barely present throughout our three course meal - at one point I had to ask the host if they knew where he went because it had been so long. The food was very good, but I wouldn’t pay the regular prices.
We went for the DineLA menu and it was great. I have the fig and goat cheese salad, the cedar plank salmon and we shared a creme brulee for dessert. Pretty perfect.
We found out a little later that they had a Passion Fruit Iced Tea and it’s better than the regular. Great, friendly service.
Have been going here since Philippe opened 20+ years ago. It is still a favorite and he has never let the quality slack. Bring your own wine, only $2 corkage, you won't be disappointed. Though even with a reservation, be prepared to wait 15 or 20 mins.
We love this restaurant. It's' the best. However, I have to say this time only the waitress we had was miserable. Table 9. We were constantly waving at her for refills, which never happened, ask for more bread and was told the kitchen was behind, when I watched other waiters bringing out fresh bread to other tables. My wife's steak came out opposite that she ask for and had to be returned. Every time I motioned to the waitress (when I could catch her eye, she simply motioned "one second." When I confronted the owner/manger and he got on her, she came over with every excuse in the book and blamed everyone else. Beware of table 9. And, I want to add this is the VERY BEST RESTURANT IN LOS ANGELES and we will continue to return again and again, not only for dinner, but for lunch meetings. We love this restaurant. Normally, the service is always top notch. It was just this waitress.
Had a great ladies lunch. The place can get very noisy with lots of groups celebrating. Yet, there are some quieter corners that can be found.
The service staff is accommodating to guest needs. The food looks and tastes good. Would recommend.
We had a reservation because my parents were in town for 8:30pm on Saturday. There were plenty of reservations left that morning. When we arrived, the place was overrun (understandable), and we were seated 20min late (not understandable). This caused one of my guests to have to abruptly leave in the middle of dinner because he was delayed by Café Bizou’s inability to manage the Dine LA crowd. I’m quite disappointed because I’ve had dinners there before with less crowds and those always went smoothly. I expect a venue of Bizou’s caliber to handle the challenge more professionally. We were not offered any complimentary items to atone for how long we were made to wait. Not sure I will be coming back, considering the lack of reparations afterwards.
Had reservation. Arrived on time. Checked in with hostess. We were sitted one hour after reservation time. When we checked with hostess about why its taking so long we got a rude and very unprofessional response. Instead of apologizing she blamed us for arriving late and this is what we get for that. In fact we arrived on time. They overbooked the restaurant. There were a lot of people waiting in the bar area for very long time. One hour to get sitted is a very long time to wait considering we had reservation and it was my bday party. We were not offered a glass of wine or cake on the house. The owner/ manager acted as if it was normal I guess. We ordered 2 special dinners- chilian sea bass two dishes. Chilian sea bass is one of my most favorite fish but it was the worse i have ever had. Frozen and defrosted at lease couple times and over cooked. Vegetables on the side were not tasty. We were so so hungry by the time the food arrived that we still ate a big portion of the fish...
Our other friend ordered beef stroganoff which was actually good and we ended up sharing. We also had a salad and escorgot that was not bad. Waiters tried to take dishes and appetizer plates off the table couple while we were still chewing and digging into the plates.
I will not come here again.
Waited over 10 minutes for the server to even come to our table to just take drink orders. Ended up having to order everything at that point. Then didn’t see her again until the end for the check. Literally saw her twice. The entrees took at least 30 minutes to come and they didn’t even bring our soup appetizers until we’d been waiting for 20 minutes.
