Cafe Bizou - Pasadena Ratings and Reviews
While I've always loved dining at this restaurant, I cannot say that the service for my particular visit was exemplary. In fact, it was leaning towards mediocrity. We were a group of ten and they were nice enough to call ahead and confirm the reservation. One would expect then that they would be ready for the service that a big group demands. Our server was doubling as bartender and never had an opportunity to even check on us periodically as is customary. Whenever we needed something (water, coffee, refills, dessert, etc.), one member of the party would get up to ask either the maitre d' or another fleeting waitstaff. It was horrid to say the least.
I took a friend for her birthday and we had a very pleasant evening. My Macadamia Nut Crusted Alaskan Halibut was wonderful as was her Parmesan Crusted Wild Alaskan Sandabs. The server brought a lovely, light chocolate mousse cake for her birthday dessert. Very nice service and ambiance.
Cafe Bizou has a nice ambience and good food and drink menu. Perhaps its most attractive feature that distinguishes it from similar restaurants is its very reasonable $2 corkage fee. Some items like the cedar plank salmon and bread pudding were excellent while the Caesar salad was pedestrian. The wait staff were good and worked very hard but they were overstretched and understaffed which diminished the dining experience waiting for things like opening the wine and brining the check.
Wonderful soups and salads followed by overcooked Alaskan halibut served with an excellent sauce and accompaniments. I might have returned the dry fish to exchange for one not dried out but never saw the waiter until at least ten minutes after the entree wss served.
We frequent Cafe Bizou. Good service and food. We ordered the monk fish and crispy potato crusted salmon. Enjoyed the food. They try hard to make sure everyone is happy with their selection. Unfortunately, the a/c was not working, so that was disappointing. I must say that this is the first time we've experience this, but when they called to confirm, they should have mentioned they had an issue.
WOW, WOW, WOW! Our meal was fantastic. The servers were very nice, but a little slow at times. I highly recommend the Beef Wellington as it was about the best I have ever had and the price Could not be beat. With a $2 corkage fee, you can bring your favorite wine.
We met some friends from Pasadena at the Cafe Biou. We were there early and sat at the bar. Our friends also came early and the restaurant sat us at our table early; nice quiet spot near the window. We brought our own wine ($2 corking charge). Great service, nice menu, and nice overall experience.
We sat for 10 minutes before a waiter showed up. I requested a wine list. He dumped it on the table and disappeared for 15 minutes. The drinks were delivered in 15 minutes. Not a promising start.
The food except for the onion soup was very good. My party of 4 had salads plus plank salmon, shrimp/lobster risotto and beef stroganoff (2). It was well prepared and everyone was satisfied.
When I requested the check and a container for one of my guests, 10 minutes went by and I asked a busboy for the container. He brought it immediately. The check arrived without a thank you.
I hope it was a off night as my wife wants to return for the food.
Foos is hit or miss. Our table ordered DineLA special (if this will affect their food quality in comparing w/the regular menu?)'Lobster Bisq tasted "old" as of a luke watm /fishy "meh"' However, the main course in between Lobster tail rissoto or beef lamb Trio were both above average. Our wait staff was delightful n efficient. I wd suggest anybody to cone here for lunch. Their food quality used to be better in the past...maybe 10+ yr ago.
Cafe Bizou has always been consistent with their food over the years. It's always fresh and cooked perfectly. I love the French Onion Soup! The seafood dishes we had were delicious. The service was a little off but it may have been due to the DineLA business. It took quite some time before our server even showed up to greet us. Not the normal service we are used to. I would highly recommend the restaurant. There are dishes to satisfy all and prices are very reasonable for the quality you receive. Great for date night or large group events.
The service was bad, didn't take out me drinks till later on after we ask 2 times to order our drinks then took quite a long time to get it & also messed up on my drink. The bread that they served was cold & also had to ask 3 times to get fresh bread. The food took extremely long to come out even for you appetizer. When the main course came it was cold. Also they added 20% tip automatically to our bill we had a party of 8 but they charge us 20% on their menu it clearly says 18% for guests over 8 or more. I didn't want to argue with them I'll just give them a back feedback. Not recommend & the food isn't good nor their service. Can't expect 20% gratuity when they won't even cater to your needs.
