Café Bistro - Nordstrom San Francisco Centre Ratings and Reviews
We really always enjoy going to The Bistro Cafe at Nordstrom’s San Francisco Center.......food is consistently good and
it is extreme convenient as well as a pleasant setting. Today’s meal was once again wonderful, but the restaurant was extremely busy and the service was exceptionally poor. Hopefully once the holiday season is past, the service level will markedly return to it’s stellar self!
With the late lamented Cupola Italian restaurant closed now, the Bistro seemed like the best available restaurant in the Westfield area prior to a show at the Warfield since we parked at Metreon.
With rather sparse decor, it's not a visual knockout like the nearby Neimann-Marcus rotunda, but we did have a nice view looking up Powell St.
Service was attentive, food was timely and well prepared, and three of us with drinks, appetizers and mains got out of there for just about $100 before tip, which is cheaper than most of the places I eat at up here.
They're good at changing up the menu keeping it fresh and relevant. We had the scallops and risotto - excellent! Request a table by the window to see beautiful downtown SF! Have a glass of bubbly and enjoy your lunch. Go early as it gets very busy, especially on the weekends.
The Bistro is a convenient place to meet for lunch, either before or after shopping or before the theater. The clientele tends to be a bit older, which is good, the food choices are varied and very tasty, but there is no reason for LOUD music to be playing while dining. It is annoying to try to converse and compete with the noise. I always have to request that the music be turned down and wish this were standard operating procedure as I like the restaurant a lot. Both food and service are great!
I have dined many times at Café Bistro and consistently find it enjoyable. I ALWAYS order the crab bisque soup ! On this occasion, our waitress (Vanessa) was simply WONDERFUL. She was friendly, patient and offered special choices. We even "sang her praises" to the manager.
A special friend from the Bay Area recommended Cafe Bistro when I told her I'd be visiting Union Square on a shopping trip. She was spot on. I loved the quick attention to my reservation, the view of the City, delicious food, and attentive service. Thank you.
Everything about our experience was wonderful, but the service was exceptional. Jesus was our server and he took care of us like we were his best guests. He made sure everything we ordered was accurate and we never had to ask for drink refills, he just took care of us from the time we sat down until the time we left. The bistro burger was the best hamburger I've ever eaten. Jesus also helped us purchase some of the chef's jarred tomato soup to take home before we left. I'm looking forward to returning to SF and having another meal at Cafe Bistro. We will be sure to ask for a table with Jesus.
A nice spot on the fourth floor, removed from the hustle and bustle of shoppers below. Great selection of menu entrees, all at a good value. A full bar with a tv adds opportunity to escape and catch a televised game. Window views offer an overview of downtown. Overall, a good place to dine and close to work and stores.
I used to LOVE coming here... however, the food quality really went down hill. We ordered calamari (came out hot but not crispy at all); crab bisque (was decent); crab mac and cheese (was decent); chicken pasta (terrible - no flavor and cold); cilantro lime salad (literally got a stomach ache after eating the salad, felt like I was eating bag salad from Safeway). So no, I would not recommend the café to friends anymore. Service is still excellent, tho it did take a while to get our food.
I love this place. The food , ambience and the price are great. The only thing I don’t like about this place is the wait. I made reservations and still I wait for 15-30min. I know I have a large group on one occasion but several occasions this has occurred even when I only have 2 people with me.
This restaurant is fine for a quick bite of you don't want the hustle and bustle of the food court but it feels very dated and lacks any appeal. The bistro needs a major face lift. Also, our food was mediocre and expensive ($70 for some berries, a salad, a bowl of soup and a sandwich and some tea and bottled water). Our waiter was nice enough but seemed disinterested but I imagine the general feel of the bistro is all kind of bland. That all said, I would probably go back if if shopping in Nordstrom bc of its convenience and quiet rather then the loud concourse level.
Hidden gem for pre-theater dinner. (Just down Market from The Strand.) Not crowded at all on Sunday night. Took reservation. Good service. Good food. Reasonable prices and good portion sizes. All food, including sides, were good and prepared attentively. Good variety--anyone could find something on this menu.
Everyone was happy with their lunch except me. I was disappointed with the Bruschetta. I like the crunchiness of the bread usually but this hunk of bread was only a little crispy on the outside.
The round table in the bar area was perfect for the 6 of us because we could see & hear each other.
Love to dine at Nordstrom Café Bistro whenever there is a special shopping event. This restaurant is a more civilized choice than the hectic and chaotic food court in the basement of the mall.
We always try the offerings on the Fresh Sheet. This visit we had the arugula salad with farro , mozzarella and tomatoes, and the clever deconstructed beef brisket stroganoff - a big hunk of tender beef brisket on top of wide egg noodles on top of the sour cream and broth. It was fun to break up the brisket and toss everything together. Dessert is a standard crème brulee.
Our young server was attentive and efficient. Very nice atmosphere.
