Café Bistro - Nordstrom San Francisco Centre Ratings and Reviews
We often have lunch here after seeing a movie at Century 9. Just as comfortable and quiet as "under the dome" but less expensive. Lunch today was good, but the server was lacking. The waitress brought us the wrong check, but didn't notice. When we were presented with the credit card check to sign, it was for a higher amount. We questioned the discrepancy and instead of fessing up or offering to check, the waitress just kept repeating, "this is the correct order." When I finally asked her to show us the check she had originally presented (and we had paid, based on) to us, she explained that she originally had given us the wrong check. If she's said that in the first place, we wouldn't have had a problem. As it is, because she tried to sneak it by us, her tip was based on the check we were originally presented (which was lower).
I haven't eaten here in years, but it seemed a good choice for lunch with a friend and her young daughter before taking in a Nutcracker matinee. The hostess and server were excellent and attentive. My salad was scrumptious and the 8-yr-old's grilled cheese, fries and grapes looked delicious. We were very happy. I will be coming back to this gem more often.
My partner and I came to this restaurant every time we visited SF which was about every other month for business. I lost my partner a few months ago and this was my first time back to SF since his passing and I was revisited our favorite "haunts" which was bittersweet. I expressed the situation in the "Notes" to the restaurant. Louis greeted me and said my request of a window table had been met and it was being cleared. After have a beautiful meal, as always here, I was just waiting for my bill and my server advised that my meal had been comped by the restaurant. Louis came over a few moment later and said he hoped everything was OK....through my teary eyes I complimented him and thanked him. Total class and very impressed.
We really always enjoy going to The Bistro Cafe at Nordstrom’s San Francisco Center.......food is consistently good and
it is extreme convenient as well as a pleasant setting. Today’s meal was once again wonderful, but the restaurant was extremely busy and the service was exceptionally poor. Hopefully once the holiday season is past, the service level will markedly return to it’s stellar self!
With the late lamented Cupola Italian restaurant closed now, the Bistro seemed like the best available restaurant in the Westfield area prior to a show at the Warfield since we parked at Metreon.
With rather sparse decor, it's not a visual knockout like the nearby Neimann-Marcus rotunda, but we did have a nice view looking up Powell St.
Service was attentive, food was timely and well prepared, and three of us with drinks, appetizers and mains got out of there for just about $100 before tip, which is cheaper than most of the places I eat at up here.
They're good at changing up the menu keeping it fresh and relevant. We had the scallops and risotto - excellent! Request a table by the window to see beautiful downtown SF! Have a glass of bubbly and enjoy your lunch. Go early as it gets very busy, especially on the weekends.
The Bistro is a convenient place to meet for lunch, either before or after shopping or before the theater. The clientele tends to be a bit older, which is good, the food choices are varied and very tasty, but there is no reason for LOUD music to be playing while dining. It is annoying to try to converse and compete with the noise. I always have to request that the music be turned down and wish this were standard operating procedure as I like the restaurant a lot. Both food and service are great!
I have dined many times at Café Bistro and consistently find it enjoyable. I ALWAYS order the crab bisque soup ! On this occasion, our waitress (Vanessa) was simply WONDERFUL. She was friendly, patient and offered special choices. We even "sang her praises" to the manager.
A special friend from the Bay Area recommended Cafe Bistro when I told her I'd be visiting Union Square on a shopping trip. She was spot on. I loved the quick attention to my reservation, the view of the City, delicious food, and attentive service. Thank you.
Everything about our experience was wonderful, but the service was exceptional. Jesus was our server and he took care of us like we were his best guests. He made sure everything we ordered was accurate and we never had to ask for drink refills, he just took care of us from the time we sat down until the time we left. The bistro burger was the best hamburger I've ever eaten. Jesus also helped us purchase some of the chef's jarred tomato soup to take home before we left. I'm looking forward to returning to SF and having another meal at Cafe Bistro. We will be sure to ask for a table with Jesus.
A nice spot on the fourth floor, removed from the hustle and bustle of shoppers below. Great selection of menu entrees, all at a good value. A full bar with a tv adds opportunity to escape and catch a televised game. Window views offer an overview of downtown. Overall, a good place to dine and close to work and stores.
I used to LOVE coming here... however, the food quality really went down hill. We ordered calamari (came out hot but not crispy at all); crab bisque (was decent); crab mac and cheese (was decent); chicken pasta (terrible - no flavor and cold); cilantro lime salad (literally got a stomach ache after eating the salad, felt like I was eating bag salad from Safeway). So no, I would not recommend the café to friends anymore. Service is still excellent, tho it did take a while to get our food.
I love this place. The food , ambience and the price are great. The only thing I don’t like about this place is the wait. I made reservations and still I wait for 15-30min. I know I have a large group on one occasion but several occasions this has occurred even when I only have 2 people with me.
