This restaurant is fine for a quick bite of you don't want the hustle and bustle of the food court but it feels very dated and lacks any appeal. The bistro needs a major face lift. Also, our food was mediocre and expensive ($70 for some berries, a salad, a bowl of soup and a sandwich and some tea and bottled water). Our waiter was nice enough but seemed disinterested but I imagine the general feel of the bistro is all kind of bland. That all said, I would probably go back if if shopping in Nordstrom bc of its convenience and quiet rather then the loud concourse level.

Hidden gem for pre-theater dinner. (Just down Market from The Strand.) Not crowded at all on Sunday night. Took reservation. Good service. Good food. Reasonable prices and good portion sizes. All food, including sides, were good and prepared attentively. Good variety--anyone could find something on this menu.

Delicious meal and wonderful service. The manager stopped by to ask my tablemate and I if we were enjoying our meal and if there was anything she could do..... a very nice touch!

Everyone was happy with their lunch except me. I was disappointed with the Bruschetta. I like the crunchiness of the bread usually but this hunk of bread was only a little crispy on the outside.

The round table in the bar area was perfect for the 6 of us because we could see & hear each other.

Thank you!

Love to dine at Nordstrom Café Bistro whenever there is a special shopping event. This restaurant is a more civilized choice than the hectic and chaotic food court in the basement of the mall.
We always try the offerings on the Fresh Sheet. This visit we had the arugula salad with farro , mozzarella and tomatoes, and the clever deconstructed beef brisket stroganoff - a big hunk of tender beef brisket on top of wide egg noodles on top of the sour cream and broth. It was fun to break up the brisket and toss everything together. Dessert is a standard crème brulee.
Our young server was attentive and efficient. Very nice atmosphere.

Very good food at reasonable prices for San Francisco, but a ridiculously overpriced wine list. Even the so-called house wine is among the more expensive.

I've been to Cafe Bistro twice before and really enjoyed it. This time, the hostess was very rude to my friend. I was five minutes late, and the hostess said there was no reservation. She didn't really look thoroughly. When I got there, she look and saw the reservation right away and took us to a quiet booth that I requested. All three booths in a row were empty when she seated us.

The server was excellent . Unfortunately when the food came, the air-conditioning at our booth was so cold, our food turned cold in minutes. It became so uncomfortable, we finally moved to a table across the aisle. The server apologized and said that had been happening all day. The occupants of the booth always moved to an empty nearby table. We asked why the hostess had seated us there if that was the case but got no answer.

I think this is the first negative review I've ever written about an SF restaurant since I became an Open Table member. It was so cold we couldn't really enjoy the food, and the hostess was so unfriendly, the whole ambiance was almost ruined before we even ordered.

Open Table reservation was not honored. After a 10 minute wait, we were offered a table in the bar (which was "first come, first serve"), or we could keep waiting. No time estimate and rude attitude.

Dinner took 40 minutes to arrive, giving the kitchen the chance to over- cook the salmon. The side was covered in cheese, despite request for no cheese.

My son's dinner was OK. Otherwise, just all bad.

This is our go to place when we're shopping in Union Square.....the food is consistently good, reasonable cost, and service is generally great! This time it was crazy busy, and our waiter seemed to be responsible for many tables, but he was hustling as fast as he could, and was attentive!

My mother used to bring us here years ago so thi Ns was partly a sentimental visit. The bruschetta was excellent. Not enough vegetarian options...and they gave my Open Table reservation to someone else! maybe there should be a backup check before someone claims the reservation....or get more specifics instead of asking them "is this for XYZ"...Still not sure how it happened and they were quick to seat us but...surprising...

Service was excellent and food prepared in a timely and delicious manner. Only comment was hostess just point us and other members of the party to our table. She did not escort us. While it wasn't necessary she do so, we thought it strange given the usual personal customer service we receive at Nordstorm's.

We were looking for a restaurant near my friend's hotel (San Francisco Marriott Marquis) and this was very close by. It was a little hard to find the restaurant, which is located inside Nordstrom's at the Westfield Centre on Market Street, but once there we were very pleased with the food and ambiance. I am gluten-free so I got a salad with salmon, and it was excellent, very tasty and fresh. The creme brulee was really good. The wait person was very friendly and helpful, and our food was served quickly. I would definitely eat there again.

Always a good choice, especially when people are coming into town from across the Bay. Easy access to Muni and BART. The food is good, fresh and nicely presented. On this occasion, however, we did feel a bit rushed by the wait person. She asked us if we wanted to see the dessert menu before we were finished with our main dish. She also brought the bill to us before we were finished. After we paid and put the cash into the check book, she asked us, "Will you be needing change?" This is my absolute worst fault with waitstaff. It is NOT their place to ask if we want change. It is their place to take our check and bring us back the change. Then WE will decide what tip to leave. This is nothing new...it happens all over the place. I believe it is totally offensive and out of place for a waitperson to ask this question.

I ordered a fresh salad containing crabmeat, avacado, mango, onion, cilantro and a delightful lime flavored dressing. It was delicious, and the ingredients were high quality. I enjoyed the view of Powell Street from my window seat, which I requested in my reservation. The ambience was quiet and comfortable, elegant, and a very pleasant way to enjoy a light, healthy dinner before an evening show.

The food here was not up to par. I don't think that they are using the fresh ingredients that they had in years past. The crab bisque tasted like a bad mix of heavy cream, oil, and old fish. Chicken, lettuce, fries did not have good flavor. Your $$$$ is better spent elsewhere.

The front desk staff were friendly, warm, and especially accommodating. The food server was great and attentive.

Unfortunately, there was a hair strand in my salad and was immediately replaced when I brought it up to my food server. She apologized.

I'm thinking this incident was a one-off and would give it another try.
