Met six friends for lunch. The food and service was very good. We plan to return the next time we get together.
Been here several times usually for a birthday celebration of some sort. Always great food and good ambiance. Will be back and will recommend.
in Chicago for a conference. Great spot of casual dinner.
The worst Italian food ever. The noodles were really soft and soggy. Everything was really blend. I have never added salt to my food at a restaurant before in my entire life, and I just had to here because nothing had any taste.
Because we had 7 in our party, the more than 6 in a party required tip kicked in...as advertised. Our server didn’t do anything above and beyond serving the food. In fact, we had to almost beg to get another drink. She didn’t deserve the large tip but knew she was going to get it regardless. Terrible service, great food and when we got them, great drinks.
Was in town for a convention at McCormick Center and brought a group of colleagues here for dinner. Outstanding service by our waiter, Guy. Food was outstanding and reasonably priced. Would definitely go there again when in Chicago and would recommend it to anyone looking for a taste of authentic Italian.
The caprese salad was great. We sat next to some regulars that raved about the restaurant. Good service. We had requested separate checks online (due to expense report restrictions) and then upon arriving was told this could not be done. However, after checking with management we were accommodated. There were 8 people in our party and all had positive comments regarding meatball sandwich, salads, and eggplant parmesan.
Lunch with co-workers.
The food was excellent and our server Brie was wonderful.
Great music playing on the speakers from the 70’s and some 80’s. Made for a very enjoyable experience.
Great food and service. Will be going back soon!
Wonderful local Italian restaurant! Delicious! Must try!
Food was excellent, we did family style and they executed it perfectly, great wine at good value.
fantastic.. walked over to the neighborhood place from our hotel near McCormick place. I had the gnocchi.. best ever.. soft wonderful little pillow of delight in a mushroom peas and sausage tomato cream sauce.. appetizer was the banana peppers stuffed w/ sausage in a garlic wine sauce.. to die for !!!!! I could have taken a bath in that sauce and the peppers didn't take your head off.. nice and mild.. great cold crisp salad and good bread.. If I lived near this place I'd go once a week.. decor is warm... all wood.. great feeling in this place..
Great as always. Gaetano has taken care of us many times and always delivers!
Seated right away
Server was excellent
Price was reasonable
Food portions were large
Taste was great!
Service was very good; our water glass was never empty. Food came quick and was delicious.
The food was not good. The food had no taste. The egg plant was to well done
The meal was superb. Great service. Pleasant atmosphere.
Excellent entrees and they offer whole wheat pastas that are very tasty
Best Italian food in Chicago. Best Calamari I have ever eaten. Canoli was fabulous and the Tiramisu was to die for . Overall a great experience.
Awesome place! Great food, great atmosphere, great service!
The food and service was fantastic. The only problem was that we went for our anniversary on the same day as the St. Patrick’s day parade and the bar was full of drunks screaming. Kind of took away the ambiance.
The food was great and the service was outstanding!!!
The Lobster pasta was amazing, not sure the official name, carrot cake was great as well, service was great I’ll definitely visit again soon
My food was excellent, our server was attentive. I will be going back to try other dishes that are normally not on the menu at other establishments
My only disappointment is this was my secret. But I must have told too many people because it was packed even though it was the night before the Housewares Show started! Kudos to the owner! Food was better than ever.
Simply outstanding food, very nice service and great ambiance
Great restaurant. Conveniently located to all parts of Chicago and its suburbs. Excellent food. Good service. Cafe Bionda is a dependably great place to have dinner and a night out!
Details were overlooked or missing. A few examples: no Parmesan cheese was offered for the entrees, no ground pepper (using a pepper mill tableside) was offered for the salad, special dessert of the day (apple pie a la mode) had run out and it was only 6:30 pm
The bussing activity was over zealous: water glasses refilled every 3-4 minutes, appetizer & entree dishes were cleared the split second a fork was laid down. Far too many servers & bussers were hustling around the dining room creating a frenetic atmosphere.
I was entertaining business associates from Canada and Brazil. Wanted to show them a great Chicago experience. Unfortunately our reservation wasn't honored, even though there was a table of six sitting empty for a party that didn't show up for their much earlier reservation. First hostess tried to sit us in the bar, then after a half hour wait, and lots of complaining on my part, they sat the five of us on a table meant for four in the empty, half cleaned up back room. Clearly an afterthought and mediocre attempt to solve the problem. Traditional Italian food was above average but floor management was a joke. Only bright spots were that the waiter was pretty effective and bartender tried to help.
Love the atmosphere and the food! You never feel rushed either! Great wine selection and I love Nanna’s Gravy! I was raised on authentic Italian and this is one of the few places I would eat at that resembles my moms homemade cooking.
Great find near McCormick Place where we were attending a conference. All 4 of us enjoyed our dinner so much so that we didn't have any leftovers! That is hard to do at a pasta place. Would definitely go back because there were many more menu items I would love to try.
Great service by Jackie, we sat at the bar and had a great meal and a bottle of wine!
Will definitely be back!
Food is excellent. The waitress & waiters we’ve had have all been knowledgeable. The bus boys are very kind as well - Leo (bus boy) spotted that our table was slightly wobbly and immediately fixed it. We also had fresh bread to the table as we were finishing our last piece. Tried this place for the first time two weeks ago and went again this weekend!
Excellent service. Definitely recommend for large parties.
Excellent lasagne, huge portions.
I live right above Cafe Bionda, have eaten there once before and thought it would be a great place for a Valentine’s Day date dinner. The whole evening was extremely upsetting. The two of us were seated at a table for six, which would have been fine, but throughout the evening the wait staff and bussers used our table intermittently for storing dishes and table settings. I felt that it was inconsiderate of my dinner and my time, and it was very invasive. There were many available 2 tops during our dinner so I’m not sure why we were seated there to begin with. I also thought that the noise level of the televisions at the bar was extremely high for an upscale restaurant that was clearly catering to Valentine’s day— they had been giving out roses but were out of them by the time of our reservation.
However, by far most disappointing element of the entire evening was that our waitress did not tell us — until we placed our order — that they were out of steak, mussels, all of the specials, and baked clams. Which was horribly disappointing on Valentine’s Day, and I don’t understand why she waited until ordered to tell us that they were out of literally everything we ordered. After we paid and the manager asked us on our way out how our evening was, I honestly expressed my disappointment. She offered to give me her business card for a free dessert the next time we came in, but after she went to get it and did not return after more than five minutes, my partner and I left.
When we walked in to Café Bionda they handed the ladies a beautiful rose - it was Valentines Day. A sweet gesture.
Our server was very nice and attentive to us. The wine was excellent and the dinner was superb!! I had cheese lasagna and my husband had a chicken dish. We shared a wonderful house salad with Italian dressing. Both dinners were excellent! Served hot and the lasagna had gooey cheese on top of it the way I love it!! Great restaurant in the South Loop!!
Great food at fair prices. It seemed maybe they could've used one more server on duty.
