Large portions of well prepared food, but the noise level is excessive.
As usual Cafe Bionda did not disappoint. The pasta with mussels is outstanding and I always bring some home. My friend had the stuffed ravioli and finished all of it - quite a feat. The wine and martinis were really good after a hard day of sight-seeing. This is a neighborhood restaurant for me and I feel so lucky.
Great evening for get together with friends. Good food and good ambience
Northsiders but will make the trek down for Bionda's great food! Love it!
Been here twice and I can't wait to go back. Service and food outstanding. Good location. Street parking is always a plus.
Love this place. Can't beat the Brick Chicken ! Service and wine selection are excellent!
We've been here several times and always enjoy our meal. I had Chicken Francese and it was better last time, not very lemony this time! Everyone else enjoyed their meals very much. I liked mine, too, but not as much as the last visit!
Cafe Bionda is an excellent neighborhood restaurant. The food is always very good, and the staff is warm and welcoming. The outdoor area has been improved over the past couple of years, with plants serving as a barrier to State street traffic, but the traffic is not all that bad in any event. I like Cafe Bionda quite a bit.
Food was excellent except for gluten free pasta....they should warn us...the waitress said it was very good.
Hands down the best Italian food I've had. Our waiter was fantastic, the food was amazing, and you didn't have to take out a loan to eat there. We will be back when we come back to town. Thanks again!
Great food! Nanna's gravy is so good. Melt in your mouth pot roast. Big portions and love that they have gluten free pasta option.
I usually always prefer to try new restaurants but I keep coming back to cafe bionda. Great service, great drinks, and the best Italian food in the city. I could eat the eggplant rotollo and rigatoni alla vodka everyday for the rest of my life. It is a little pricey, but I think it's worth it.
Great tasting lobster! My friend is all about seafood and she loved it there. Our go to place in South Loop.
Good food and nice atmosphere. The service was also great.
as usual, a delicious meat and great wine
this time tried dessert-yummy
Appetizers and entrees delicious. Zucchini appetizer and eggplant great. Fish special prepared perfect. Chicken parm very good and huge portion.
Service and staff were very good as usual. Food was very good and large portions. I've never had a bad experience at Cafe Bionda.
Always good food at Cafe Bionda. This is our go to place for Italian.
Good food, great service and loved the ambiance. Highly recommend the bruschetta.
The food was excellent. I so love to eat at Café Bionda when I am in town. We were able to introduce our friends to this little gem and I know they will be back again as they live in the area.
The food was mostly delicious (although the peas in my gnocchi were undercooked), and I would absolutely go back because of the food. That said, my table of 3 could barely hear each other it was so loud. I hadn't expected that, and will hesitate to return.
Great spot. Delicious food. Good for groups or a date.
Food was delicious! Server could have been a bit more knowledgeable with menu, but was still very nice. Was also quite surprised at how casual (yoga pants) the employees' uniforms are for a nicer restaurant on a saturday night. Overall, nice dining experience. Patio is cute! I plan to go back!
Food was outstanding. Got right in on schedule with reservation. Table wobbled but was secured. We will return. This has been our second visit as we are from out of town. We chose to visit since our first was very good.
Great homemade non chain restaurant
Generous portion size
Super disappointed. - Amazing reviews led us here.... but apparently Chicago Italian is a different thing from east coast Italian.
Hostess was the best part of the night.... Professional, smiling, and helpful.
The guy bringing water and clearing the tables was also 100% on point. Although... Linen table covers topped with butcher paper it's a little odd.... and not what I was hoping for.
The waiter...We found Spicoli from Ridgemont High....lovely
and who the hell puts the Bee-Gee's on the radio in an Italian restaurant??
Grilled Calamari... ok, if you say so. Sure tasted like boiled and sitting in 1/4" of oil, I ate 2 of the 4 they brought. the tentacles were nice and crispy but not the body. *uggggh
Gnocchi, well...it's a stew really. Seriously... it's the consisntency of a beef stew with all the sauce, peas, mushrooms ands the sausage tasted like cajun. No where near Italian. It comes in a high sided cereal bowl big enough to feed a great dane.
Linguine Alfredo - Lobster. - A lot like above. it's damn near a stew with all the sauce and extras. It's no Alfredo sauce I've ever seen. A spicy red sauce? really?? Lobster chucks were small, almost ground up except for a couple small claw pieces....and it comes in the biggest cereal bowl I've ever seen.
Maybe this is the way Chicago does Italian, so maybe locally it's the bomb... but for an east coaster in an Italian household... it missed the mark by a mile.
Should have gone for a deep dish....
Delish as always. Eggplant Parmigiana never fails. Service was friendly and smooth.
Great food!!! Always come back!
Another great meal at one of our favorites!
Great all always. The food and service is just simply good.
I took 6 customers to this Italian restaurant for a dinner after a convention. It is a small, inviting venue perfect for casual dining and conversations. It was a little on the louder side and not very conducive for a group much larger than the one I had attending. Very good food and a fun, energetic wait staff; a well stocked wine and bar menu; and convenient location. I would definitely go back and recommend for similar outings.
The server was very friendly and attentive and checked back often. When a mistake was made with my wife's order, she immediately corrected it. The food was very good, although the red sauce was a little heavy on the red pepper. Would definitely go back!!
Great service, friendly staff and just the right amount of attention. Good wine list and meals were very tasty!
Yum yum gotta get ya sum!! Perfect for lunch with business mates or casual client lunch!
Great food and great service. One of my favorites for Italian food!
Cafe Bionda was a pleasant surprise. Wonderful bar and bar service. Friendly staff. Great location near convention center.
It was good, not great Italian food. Pasta was a little over cooked. An Italian restaurant should ALWAYS have perfectly cooked al dente pasta. It's a requirement!
Hubby said eggplant parm was excellent.
For Italian, I thought it was a little overpriced being that pasta is one of the least expensive staples.
They got the order wrong but the food was good
My go-to place for Italian in downtown Chicago. Besides a great menu list, chef will make any pasta dish with your favorite sauce. My penne arrabriatta was awesome as was Guy our waiter.
Amazing food and we love GUY -- It is our go-to for great Italian.
