The food was fabulous as always, It the service was extremely disappointing. We were there with 2 friends on a Thursday night. There were 2 other tables occupied when we arrived, and halfway through our meal we were the only people there. Our waiter was inattentive. We had to call him over to take our order. He served our second course before clearing the dirty dishes from our first course. When he did come to our table, he spoke only when spoken to. He was on his phone behind the bar. Finally a customer came and sat at the bar, and our waiter spent the rest of the night talking to him.
The rest of the staff had nothing to do, so they were scrubbing the hoods over the stove with soapy water. We watched as it dropped down. Was it on our food? We couldn’t see.
We love the food and will return to hopefully see that the service has returned to what we have always expected from Cafe Bink.
We heard there was a new chef/part owner at what we consider a neighborhood rsstaurant that we USED to frequent, but had stopped going to due to spotty service and a deteriorating food quality. Decided to try the "Tasting Menu" served at the bar on Fr/Sa nites, and available only by reservation, and we now have a new favorite food experience. Although the regular menu for table service is fairly casual, Chef Justin offers a weekly tasting menu that is fabulously creative, and every bite was a delectable treat. The menu changes weekly and there are wine pairings, and we were totally WOWED! For our tasting, the tempura veggies with dill dipping sauce had the lightest batter ever, and the veggies were crisp and yummy; the bacon vinaigrette on the salad was perfect; the butternut squash soup with maple foam and crisp pepitas a masterful combination of sweet/salty/savory/crispy; the pork entree with pears remarkably tender and lick-the-plate worthy. We thought we had no room for desert, but ate every bite and licked our lips. What a wonderful and truly unexpected experience!!!
I love this place. Always amazing food, great ambiance (sitting outside) and very friendly staff. Food and service does not happen quickly so if you have places to be pick another joint. But, if you are able to just relax and enjoy a great conversation while you wait it’s worth it.
Creative and fresh foods served on a patio looking at the mountains. We went for brunch to celebrate a birthday. All decided to order off the lunch menu. The $12 mimosa with 1 cent refills are a steal. Two of my dining companions had the fish sandwich and were very happy campers. The large portion of lightly battered, flaky cod was served on a delicious, fresh cahallah roll. They chose the house made potato chips as the side and ate every one. I chose the Fall inspired arugula salad topped with fresh, chunky, flavorful chicken salad. The flavor combination was perfect! Spouse chose the beets with chick salad on top. The knowledgeable server questioned this decision and described the beets in detail. Spouse should have listened as it was not a good mix of flavors. All the food was very good. Only complaint would be the bees that prevented customers from sitting at several of the open tables. Service started off good but became very slow as business picked up. We were told that one of the servers failed to show up for work. I can honestly say that if it wasn't a 45 min drive to get to Cafe Bink that I would make it back on a regular basis.
We had a wonderful experience dining at Cafe Bink -- both the food and service were exceptional. The weather was perfect for sitting outside and our server Debra was very personable and friendly. We ordered the set "date night" menu with wine pairings. I loved that chef Justin came out and talked a little about each course, and later, when Debra followed up to see how we enjoyed each course we could tell that it wasn't just a courtesy, but that the entire staff really care that the guests enjoy the food. And the food was excellent -- each dish was a wonderful combination of flavors. I especially enjoyed the arancini, and the perfectly cooked osso buco. We will definitely be back again!
We hadn’t been to Binks in a while but so glad to have put it back in the rotation. The service and atmosphere are hard to beat. The staff is really professional and welcoming. The food is well thought out and executed. Alaskan cod was crispy and fresh. Trout was deliciously buttery. Salads were fresh and seasonal. Although not had this time, Amy’s bolognese is an indulgence to try and their vegetables are imaginative (that’s a good thing). Thanks for a nice night out.
Had another great meal at Cafe Bink. The trout was truly delicious. I'm always willing to try it in a restaurant, but so many times I'm disappointed because it's dry. This was done to perfection in a wonderful butter sauce. Will definitely have it again. Love the cornbread muffins served in a hot black skillet to start.
The only negative was the calamari. It was just okay in the cornmeal crumb mixture. I prefer mine batter fried, but thought I'd give this a try. Cooked really well, just not as pleasing as a good crunch on a batter fried.
Love the ability to dine outdoors, and the wait staff is so friendly and helpful.
The food here is exceptional and very chef driven. We started with the gazpacho which was light and refreshing and one of the best we've ever had. My husband gave a thumbs up to the artichoke pasta and loved how the Calabrian chiles and olives gave it depth. For me, the star of the night was the Alaskan beer battered cod. Im not a big fried fish person but something compelled me to order it and it was a total wow dish! The fish was perfectly cooked and the accompanying chow-chow, shishito peppers and smoked chili aioli added tang and heat, totally putting into another realm altogether. So, so very good! My only suggestion for this place is that they change the lighting over the tables. It's super bright and does nothing for the overall ambience. We sat at the bar which has dimmer lighting, making it much more cozier. Aside from that, for the food alone, it's well worth a repeat.
Came across this place when searching Open Table for places to try when visiting Phoenix and Cafe Bink did not let us down. We made a reservation to experience the chef's tasting menu with wine or beer pairing. The meal was inspired from German cuisine and it was delicious. We were offered a 5 course tasting menu that hit on all cylinders. The chef came out with each course and provided some insight into what we were about to eat, how it was prepared and its inspiration. This place seems like a great little neighborhood spot as it seems that the other customers were all locals and chatting with the whole staff. If you are in the area, I highly recommend that you pop in -- if you are staying at the Boulders in Carefree - the restaurant is just over a mile away - do yourself a favor and get off the resort and give this place a try.
