A recent dinner seated inside and an even more recent lunch outside both were quite pleasant with good food and atmosphere. Although Cafe Berlin is very near our home, previously, my wife and I had not visited for several years because we remembered the food as heavy and nothing special while the area has many great alternatives. But both of our recent meals were very tasty with interesting salads, soups and mains, and the Octoberfest beers were great. I should add that the woman behind the bar -- who may be the "new" owner and also, I learned, serves as hostess -- snapped at me "I'm busy" when she overheard me tell a person in line that I hadn't seen anyone to check-in for my reservation. But otherwise, service for both meals was friendly and efficient. Will definitely return.
Delicious food! I'll say that again, delicious food. Good drinkable beer selection though not huge.
Our annual Oktoberfest restaurant continues to please in every way.
Great food, service, and ambiance.
Cafe Berlin us a mandatory stop for us when we visit DC. We are never disappointed; the food is exceptional and the atmosphere at the restaurant is charming. We sat outside this time -lovely. Highly recommended.
Cafe Berlin is a favorite spot. I go often
Great service, creative menu for everyone.
Great brunch! The menu, food, and drinks were tops. The place was full and the wait staff were really moving around to keep pace. Will come back again.
Cafe Berlin was recommended to me by friend. Overall, it was a good experience. Being Oktoberfest season, the menu offered traditional German and Bavarian cuisine. That being said the menu was also limited due to the season. The food was tasty.
The place was packed that’s for sure. Luckily we had reservations because those who did not had a bit of a wait to be seated. Cafe Berlin offers indoor and outdoor seating. They had a band lined up, so outdoor seating was not possible for my visit. I may go back just to try their food options outside of Oktoberfest season. I would give the pricing 2 stars. Semi-pricey. $13-$18 depending on what you order.
Always great food and a great experience at Cafe Berlin, no matter the season. One of DC's overlooked gems!
Excellent German food with a refreshingly modern twist. But all of the old standbys are available, too. My weinerschnitzel was some of the best I have ever had....tender, crusty and delicious. We sat outside on the lovely courtyard patio and enjoyed a beautiful evening. Good German beer makes this place even more special. Highly recommend.
Really enjoyed our dinner there! Food was great, very personable server, great beer!
Amazing food selections, staff knew all the ingredients a nd could explain the menu perfectly. Great beer selections.
Love love love the German food especially the wursts and sauerkraut! Favorite place and eating outside was a treat!
I was in town on vacation, & found an ad for Cafe Berlin in a DC travel magazine from my hotel.
I am so glad I found them. I had the Weiner schnitzel, & it was delicious. I had gooseberry tart for dessert...YUM! The service was great. It was extremely hot & humid that evening, & the wait staff was running in & out of that heat. They were working hard. I didnt have any beer, but they had a good selection.
I definitely recommend!
Great patio dining and ambience for Octoberfest! Food was well prepared and served promptly. Wonderful happy hour specials
The food was delish. Our friends had lived in Germany and were very pleased with the food and beer selection. All 6 of us enjoyed.
We ate from the Oktoberfest menu. The wurstsalat was very good as usual. The schnitzel sandwich that I ordered had came on a nice panini-like roll and the sandwich had a surprising kick to it that I enjoyed. It went very well with the tasty Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest beer, which is made in the traditional "marzen" style. Bianca, our attractive server wearing a durndel, was very pleasant and efficient.
Fantastic as always!
Food delivery took way too long. Appetizers took 35 minutes to arrive and the main course 45 minutes plus to arrive. No service with a smile. Will not be returning.
Excellent food and service. Loved sitting outside
I think the food is consistently good. The chicken schnitzel was delicious with bacon-mushroom gravy!!!
Amazing new fall salad. Service was great, friendly and prompt. Love the outdoor tent for Oktoberfest. Hoping to go for one of the Brunches next!
One of the best German meals I have eaten! It was a bit loud in the dining area, due to the surrounding groups but it did not significantly detract from our amazing experience.
Being a Hungarian, I was disappointed with the Goulash soup—virtually no meat in it. The Wiener Schnitzel was a little overfried, but the potato salad and red cabbage were excellent. Price was reasonable and service was very good.
We stopped for brunch. The food was outstanding and seemed authentic. The server was very gratuitous and kind. We sat inside to get out of the heat. Our table was cozy and cool. Good value.
Overall very nice place to eat. Food is authentic and always delicious. Need to get rid of the fruit flies as they were somewhat annoying.
This is our second time going to cafe Berlin and it was delicious. The staff and a manger where so nice and friendly. It’s a quiet almost home in the wall we can not wait to go back!
Cafe Berlin is a good place to go for a snack and a beer or a full meal with family and friends. It has the most authentic German food in the DC area and paid street parking, a plus in a crowded city.
The service was amazing, the staff is so nice and helpful and schnitzel and bratwurst were delicious!
Great German food at very reasonable prices. A favorite restaurant during my travels to Washington, DC.
Great food, prompt service. We will go back.
Excellent low noise level. Beer and food very good
The staff greeted my friend and me on a Sunday evening. It was a relatively quiet night and we ate inside. The attentive waiter took our order for drinks and the sauerkraut balls appetizer. They arrived hot and crunchy - I love the mustard sauce! My friend had the pork medallions and I the pork Jagerschnitzel. Both entrees arrived in a timely way and prepared to our expectations. The mushroom gravy is wonderful. My friend had dessert and I an after dinner drink. I plan to return again!
Just an awesome evening eating outside and enjoying the moment
Wonderful dinner. We were a large party with several children. Service was prompt, food was excellent, and everyone left happy and full. One in our party grew up in Germany and was pleased with the authenticity of the food.
So good. So tasty.
Thank you Cafe Berlin! .
Some of the best German food I’ve ever eaten. Service was great. Beer and wine selection was also great. Prices were reasonable.
Delish food & good service
