Café Bengodi is a causal eatery that specializes in Italian cuisine. It is particularly popular for its wide variety of authentic pizzas. The owners of the restaurant are committed to using only fresh ingredients and traditional cooking techniques to preserve the taste of authentic Italian cuisine. Café Bengodi also offers an extensive beer and wine menu for guests to choose from. Comfortable outdoor seating is available for diners when the weather is nice.
Begin the meal by choosing from a wide range of salads and appetizers. Options include the house special Caesar salad and the chef's special fried clams. For the main course at Café Bengodi, try a pasta dish like salmon spaghetti or mozzarella pasta. End the meal with a sweet dessert such as homemade ricotta cheesecake or tiramisu.
The first time I have wanted to send food back. I didn't as they knew what they were serving, so by deduction, were happy with it.
The pizza was a frozen base with globs of cheese on it. This would barely be acceptable in a school canteen. My pasta was ok, but the seafood overcooked.
The layout was not thoughtfully done with them obviously trying to hide the kitchen which became the only thing I found myself noticing. On entry, I almost turned away but because it had good reviews I thought maybe this was an unpretentious gem of a restaurant. Turns out no.
It was super hot and when it got unbearable they turned on the air-con which was so noisy we couldn't talk.
The one major wonderful thing about this restaurant-----is the FOOD!
some of the best pasta I've eaten for a very long time. The restaurant is in an obviously very old, historic building in Pioneer Square with great people watching. We will be back!!
Needs more room and seating but food makes up for it. Love this place
Unremarkable. Scary hip dude with multiple lip piercings took order, served and checked us out. Half of what was on the menu was not available. Settled for a very bland chicken parm and guests has pizza. Sat outside in a very crowded and cumbersome to get to side area.
Bathroom was a disgrace; filthy dirty. Afraid to touch anything.
The restaurant has moved to the 600-block of First Ave. Even though OT offers reservation service and does Bengodi's website, they are not honored and have no way to record them. Very confusing.
The food was great especially the carbonara! We will be back!
They had great food. It was our first time there before the Billy Joel concert. We would go back. It's not a big place.
Took a chance on a small, local Italian restaurant for our 25th anniversary. The restaurant was wonderful. Food: fantastic. Service: great. Restaurant: small, cozy, can sit outside if the weather is nice. Prices: reasonable. Everything was fresh and prepared in-house.
Very tasty food. Not your standard dishes. Portions are a bit small for the price.
Well, got there just in time for our reservation but the place was full. Not a table in sight. We told the waitress that we had reservations and she said, "Did you make them online? Because those really don't go anywhere!" Rather shocking! They finally were able to seat us under the exhaust fan (we were warned that it goes on every so often and it is extremely loud!). Food was good but the place was like a sauna!
Interesting find; food and service were great !! I had a table in the sidewalk terrace so I really enjoyed taking in the neighborhood (Pioneer Square). The place itself is quite run down and dated, but I wasn't looking for chic as much as exactly what I got; great food/price at a local gem!!
