I had the Bratwurst. The strong amount of nutmeg in or on the bratwurst was a turn off. I thought it was an odd combination. The apple slaw was not the best either. The apples were too ripe and had a powdery texture. I did enjoy the kale, rosti and fried egg that were part of the dish. My friend had the brisket and grits and she thought it was delicious.
Birthday get together with my family. Small group. Server was very no nonesense, everything was served quick and hot. Love the food and atmosphere. I will definitely be back.
It was the second time we were going there and there was no parking what so ever! We tried the food before and it was amazing. However, it’s really not worth waiting an hour to find parking in Brickworks!
Café Belong is a beautiful restaurant in a lovely setting at the Brickworks. The service is excellent and the food is delicious with perfect portions. The restaurant is open and airy. We can see the chef cooking in the kitchen on the other side of the counter. The menu is small with a daily pork and fish selection. I would go back again and again and again!!
It seems a bit over-priced for what you are getting. $25 for pancakes. $28 for Eggs Benedict. The place is fine but I won't go back or be suggesting it to any of my friends.
Great food and wonderful service. Very vibrant atmosphere in the daytime-maybe more subdued in the evening
Excellent food. A bit overpriced for brunch. Decent service however the waitress brought the bill and asked us to leave early because there were more patrons waiting. Always happy to make space but we weren’t even there over 1h20 and it seems like they may have overbooked people.
Not particularly enticing vegan options but the rest of the menu got solid reviews from the rest of the party. Service was friendly and competent. Nice location as well
Love the food here.
Made a reservation for 3:45 today. Went and they refused to seat us. Saud the Kitchen was closed at 3 pm. Rude
This is a favourite spot but our recent visit was very disappointing. My order preference, which I had specified twice to ensure it was not overlooked, was not as requested. So I sent it back immediately. Meanwhile my two companions received and, at my insistence, began their meals. My order arrived after they had finished -- 15-20 minutes later. Embarrassing for us all and to make it worse, no apology from the waiter, no adjustment to the bill or similar acknowledgement of their failure. This place is not cheap and cheerful, quite the opposite, and the service was poor. I'll think twice before returning.
I recommend summer patio dining only. Towards back half of indoor cafe has strong grease odour due to open kitchen, stay towards front by windows. Daily soup was served lukewarm and bacon was a muddy colour. I have had the frittata in the past which is served lukewarm, as its made prior and heated up. Not worth the Celebrity Chef hype, but again the outdoor patio is very nice.
the server was professional but the kitchen was very very slow with the order ( about 1 hour for eggs benedict !!) - mediocre wine list - overall overpriced
we usually go to this place, but the service is getting worse each time, there is something that doesn't help to make a good experience, the food is great, service not so much.
And it is not cheap!
Service was slow and half the food was mediocre . Lack of seasoning is never a good option
Very good food, a little pricey, but overall a lovely place for brunch. Staff was great and very attentive and we certainly enjoyed ourselves.
I have been to Cafe Belong in the past and the food was pretty good and the service was terrific. This time however it was dreary. The hostess in track pants couldn't have been more unwelcoming if she tried. Our server was sweet but was SLOW. The food was really awful: Overcooked poached eggs, flavourless ham, burnt bacon, dry scrambled eggs. The half uneaten food was taken away by our server without a word. I don't know who is in charge of the kitchen but treating ingredients with such carelessness is unforgivable. I shall not return and I will never recommend this restaurant again. Too bad!
Great ambiance, but the valentine prix fix food was mediocre at best.
Beautiful and unique setting. Wonderful staff, tasty food, rotating menu, fresh and healthy ingredients. Love everything about this place.
Excellent food!
I have been back to Cafe Belong five times now and have continued to be impressed by the crazy good food, welcoming ambience and friendly, tactful service. I have ordered both directly off the menu and experienced the group five course dining. In both cases I have full confidence that the chef will create delicious, beautifully plated food. I love this resto so much that I am always conflicted between my desire to tell the world and keep this gem a secret! I have told a lot of people in the end — just want this wonderful place to continue doing what they do.
Fabulous food once again. Can’t wait to go back.
A lovely meal as always, beautifully prepared and presented seasonal food for those that wanted, and the always popular macaroni cheese for those with simpler tastes.
Never disappoints and is always such a pleasure! You go in and feel like part of the family and are well taken care of! The menu is always changing and is fresh, organic and beautiful food and flavours! From brunch to dinner just go and experience it!
Normally my husband and I first enjoy a brisk walk from our condo at Yonge and Summerhill through the Moore Park Ravine before heading down to Cafe Belong in the Evergreen Brickworks, but this time we brought a long-standing friend (& former neighbour) & her walking frame and it was during this winter's deep freeze, so we drove. The warm welcoming ambience was a delightful contrast to the biting cold outside; we have always found that the staff to be very friendly, smiling, and helpful and this visit was no exception. The service was excellent as was the food: we opted for the special lunch menu, which is well-composed and of good value; and who can resist the truffle dessert (which we split between the three of us)? Despite the good crowd we were able to talk amongst the three of us, without having to shout - something we have learned to treasure as we gently age!! We bring most of our out-of-country guests here to this unique gem of a restaurant and will continue to do so.
The location is lovely...nestled in the heart of the city but out of the noise and bustle. Food is delicious with a wonderful focus on local and healthy.
First time there - absolutely loved it. Will be a favourite place to go from now on.
Very good service and food was good
Disappointing. We had to send back one meal as the lamb was significantly undercooked. The squash salad was delicious. But overall way too expensive for value.
Brunch was great. Pulled pork eggs bene was delish
Interesting , seasonal menu drawing heavily from local meats, cheeses, and produce.; our selections were beautifully prepared and presented. Service was attentive and friendly, actually Bronwyn is one of the best servers we’ve ever had. She judged the upbeat mood of our table and seemed to have fun with us while doing a very professional job of serving. Altogether, an excellent experience!
A really wonderful restaurant with a menu that although not large, is interesting with good options. Locally sourced, in season food makes the meals that much more flavorful and their presentation and execution outstanding. We will come back.
Cafe Belong is a wonderful restaurant. I often have lunch there with a friend or family after a walk in nature. The chef manages to bring the most beautiful ingredients that Nature offers right in your plate. Always delicious, beautifully presented, and friendly service. Simply LOVE Cafe Belong.
I was actually a little bit surprised by the prices on the brunch menu - $25 ish for a one of their varius Eggs Benedict . But they were WAY, WAY ABOVE the ordinary and totally worth it. So, if you view their the menu online and think, ‘Ooh, a bit pricey’, ignore that thought and go. You won’t be disappointed. BTW, I think I know my food, so this should be viewed as a solid recommendation.
Cafe Belong is in a central AND an unusual location. Really delicious food!
I have had the smoked trout twice and it is perfection. The ploughman's board is special; every element has distinctive interesting flavours.
I took my mother here for her birthday after a walk through the Brickworks. The food was amazing and the service was quick and efficient. We loved the reccos from the server and were so pleased walking away content.
This is hidden gem in the city situated in a super cool arty complex in the Don Valley Ravine. A cool farmers market on the weekend, steps to nature trails, and fun for kids too. Food is great; huge portions, delicious!
(I'm biased! We hold our company Xmas party here too!)
Amazing food, had the communal meal.
Cannot comment on vegan dishes because I just wasn't looking. Food was superb. I will go back again and again. Reasonable prices. Very relaxed and wonderful service. If you haven't been, you are missing out on one of Toronto's gems.
