About Cafe Belong
Every thing we do is local, sustainable and organic. But it’s more than just food choice and ingredients. Cafe Belong is about creating a connection between the natural food from our land, the farmers that nourish and harvest it, and ultimately, the people who enjoy it.
It’s this ‘circle of sustainability’ that will surround your visit – a sense of belonging to the environment and to the beautiful Evergreen Brick Works venue. It’s this dedication to provenance, preparation and presentation that stand as a testament to value.

Cafe Belong Ratings and Reviews
Normally my husband and I first enjoy a brisk walk from our condo at Yonge and Summerhill through the Moore Park Ravine before heading down to Cafe Belong in the Evergreen Brickworks, but this time we brought a long-standing friend (& former neighbour) & her walking frame and it was during this winter's deep freeze, so we drove. The warm welcoming ambience was a delightful contrast to the biting cold outside; we have always found that the staff to be very friendly, smiling, and helpful and this visit was no exception. The service was excellent as was the food: we opted for the special lunch menu, which is well-composed and of good value; and who can resist the truffle dessert (which we split between the three of us)? Despite the good crowd we were able to talk amongst the three of us, without having to shout - something we have learned to treasure as we gently age!! We bring most of our out-of-country guests here to this unique gem of a restaurant and will continue to do so.
Interesting , seasonal menu drawing heavily from local meats, cheeses, and produce.; our selections were beautifully prepared and presented. Service was attentive and friendly, actually Bronwyn is one of the best servers we’ve ever had. She judged the upbeat mood of our table and seemed to have fun with us while doing a very professional job of serving. Altogether, an excellent experience!
Cafe Belong is a wonderful restaurant. I often have lunch there with a friend or family after a walk in nature. The chef manages to bring the most beautiful ingredients that Nature offers right in your plate. Always delicious, beautifully presented, and friendly service. Simply LOVE Cafe Belong.
I was actually a little bit surprised by the prices on the brunch menu - $25 ish for a one of their varius Eggs Benedict . But they were WAY, WAY ABOVE the ordinary and totally worth it. So, if you view their the menu online and think, ‘Ooh, a bit pricey’, ignore that thought and go. You won’t be disappointed. BTW, I think I know my food, so this should be viewed as a solid recommendation.
This is hidden gem in the city situated in a super cool arty complex in the Don Valley Ravine. A cool farmers market on the weekend, steps to nature trails, and fun for kids too. Food is great; huge portions, delicious!
(I'm biased! We hold our company Xmas party here too!)
Service was very friendly and professional. The filtered water came in a glass bottle and tasted very good. We had ordered two different salads. They looked amazing and were very tasty. We will definitely go again.
We had a reservation, which I highly recommend. We went on Saturday for lunch, when the close-by farmers market was on, which made it hard to find a parking spot.
Watching other tables being served after they have sat down and ordered after you is always disappointing and difficult but especially when you are feeding a toddler. Our toddlers lunch arrived about 20 minutes before ours after we asked to have them all together. I honestly believe the server did everything he could, but for some reason the kitchen needed 30 minutes to deliver a salad, a frittata (that I'm sure was already made) and some eggs Benny. Food was excellent as always and we will return, but we expected more from the kitchen in terms of timing especially given our prompt ordering and requests.
I don't like to write bad reviews. Maybe it's bad karma or maybe I would just rather focus on the better establishments in Toronto--and there are plenty. In fact, I haven't bothered to write a review about any restaurant in awhile. My experience at Cafe Belong last Saturday evening was so completely incompetent that I need to share my experience with others.
I've been here before. The food has been mediocre but the setting is beautiful. I think this establishment has devolved considerably, notably with the lack of creativity on the menu and a clear lack of managing the restaurant/hospitality experience. And the value for the food is certainly not present either!
Let's begin with the brusque greeting by a host who would rather not like to be in the hospitality sector. Aggressive in tone, he asked if we had a reservation (yes we did). He then put us through a needlessly tiresome and aggravating process of seating us at one of the many appropriate tables that we wanted.
Service was slow. It took 30 minutes to get a cocktail and there weren't that many diners present. Ingredients were missing with no effort in finding a substitution. Wine was undrinkable--"It must be because the bottle was in the sun all afternoon," was the reply before order another glass which was barely drinkable. Food was mediocre, cold, or both: the miserly pieces of duck in the duck salad were dry; the 12-ounce steak contained 5 ounces of fat and grizzle. I had to get up to find steak knives, only to remind the server that we needed two of them. Vegetables were cold. Nobody asked about coffee or dessert or whether or not we were able to digest the massive chunks of grizzle. We didn't even order that much and the bill was nearly $150 for two people.
There was no manager on the duty--I asked to see one. Nobody responded. This is clearly a tourist trap or a restaurant so blessed in its location they barely have to lift a finger to satisfy their clientele. And they don't!
Want to love this place but it keeps falling short. I love the Brickworks and I love the idea and concept of Cafe Belong however it really falls short on all counts sadly. I've been here several times and always the service alternates between disinterested to rude. Food should be much much better for the prove point. Another spot that coasts on its wonderful location and drops the ball in the kitchen. I'm done with Cafe Belong.
The Communal dinner was fun, fresh and delicious. We enjoyed the wine pairing as well. All staff were friendly and enthusiastic. The chef visited our table and discussed our meal. She was adventurous and professional. We enjoyed asking her questions and hearing her approach preparing a themed meal.
