About

This restaurant is permanently closed. This Logan Square contemporary American / Spanish fusion spot is a lofty storefront cafe featuring exposed brick, local art, hardwood floors and an open kitchen. The cafe opened in 2009 as a place for Pena's then 8-year-old daughter, Isabella, to have a place in the neighborhood to eat fresh, healthy food prepared from scratch. No fried foods are served in this spot. Pena enlisted Ambria alum Cesar Casas as executive chef in 2009.

Sandwiches, Coffee & Salads occupy most of the real estate on the menu and provide the most bang for your buck for dine-in or take-out. Entrees include Caribbean jerk chicken, sautéed salmon with mango salsa, Black Rose (skirt steak topped with Madeira wine sauce) & garlic mashed potatoes, tilapia Provençal, Mediterranean platter, Argentinian Churrasco, pastas in homemade marinara or pesto sauces, and vegetarian options on par with anything served in the Gold Coast or Loop. Venture in today and let your taste buds be your guide!

What a fun find! The food was exceptional, and the staff was lovely. High praise for the chicken quesadilla app, Mexican cheese steak and grilled salmon sandwiches, and blueberry pound cake. Can't wait to go back!!

Fine, not great. But it was easy to get a table at 8 on a Saturday night. BYOB, but Walgreens is across the street.

Our server took quite a while before serving our table, so that was quite a disappointment. However, the food itself was delicious! The Mediterranean chicken was absolutely phenomenal! Highly recommend this place and will return hoping for better service.

Cafe Bella is very casual. No frills. BYOB. Our server was attentive. We enjoyed the food. I would describe it primarily as Mexican but there are American and Italian items on the menu. The prices are reasonable. I am not a big fan of skirt steak. I find it too tough. However, I gave it a try. The marinade was flavorful, paired well with our bold Cabernet Sauvignon but the meat was not tender. The shrimp were fresh and cooked perfectly. The chicken was lean, tender and tasted good. We will likely return because we like the food and we love the free corkage and BYOB policy.

Guacamole was amazing--so fresh! He ordered the Black Rose Steak and I ordered Churasco Steak. The steaks were both marinaded well and cooked to perfection. The potatoes and plantains were delicious. The chocolate flan was the perfect touch for dessert.

My husband and I randomly stumbled upon this hidden gem and we loved our entire meal. We will go back for more:)

A gem on Fullerton. Had the guac trio, skirt steak, salmon, and mushroom entrees - very tasty. Place was loud, but there was a group of ladies celebrating something and most of the noise came from them. Dessert was nothing special, probably better to skip.

Cafe Bella was a very pleasant surprise! In the area later than we thought, so needed some food. Was able to get an early reservation and we would go back. I had the turkey burger with a side salad and it was tasty. My son had a hamburger - it had red peppers or something mixed in, which he is not a fan of, but he likes super plain food. Husband had a steak dish and really like it - with a cocktail and tip it was under $75 for 3 people. Thats a pretty good deal for 3 people for good food in Chicago! Servers were very friendly and service was good.

LOVED this restaurant. My husband and I were visiting our daughter in Logan Square. Cafe Bella was walking distance and definitely worth the walk. Everyone there was very sweet and very efficient. The food was mainly salads and sandwiches but definitely very upscale. All ingredients were fresh and our sandwiches were made to order. Very, very yummy and generous portions. Can't wait to go back!!

The food was presented in a surprisingly trendy and fashionable way. They made my steak look like a black rose and I was shocked at how good my steak tasted and the mashed potatoes were delicious. The place is super clean and I will definitely be coming back

Interesting location. It looked more like a lunch spot than a "bistro for dinner." The food seemed more suited for lunch than dinner as well. It would have been helpful to know the restaurant was BYO. It is not mentioned on their website.

Food is always very good but the service is always slow. I know the food is made when ordered but always have to ask for a refill or if I need anything else.
