Friendly greeting when we arrived. Quickly seated and waited on. Different twist on some meals, using local fresh ingredients. Make reservations, as the place fill up quickly.
we were pleasantly surprised by the wonderful cioppino loaded with shellfish, salmon and white fish. Sauce was just superb! Husband had beef barley soup which he loved. We were staying at the hotel and didn't want to go out in the rain and wind. Beautiful 4th floor setting with huge windows overlooking Monterey Bay as well as their own beach with crashing waves. Once the sun goes down, the lights of Monterey come on and all so very pretty! Service was very good as well. We have dined here many times over the years when we were staying at the hotel and the hotel has changed hands several times. We always wonder why the restaurant isn't busier. It's such a beautiful setting and food is very good.
The food and view are wonderful. Prices are high and the service was abysmal. The waiter's excuse was that he hadn't wanted to put in our main course order early because we'd ordered a starter. We ordered the starter more than 10 minutes before we ordered the main course, which he should have given to the kitchen right away. After we placed our order for the main course, it took 42 minutes for it to arrive. We almost left before it came. This was the second time we were here. The first time, it was almost empty and service was still slow, but nothing like this.
I believe they were not ready to offer a Valentine’s Day dinner. The ambiance was casual. When I made the reservation I was expecting to find a place where they were serving a special for Valentine’s Day, and I was very disappointed. I had a succulent for centerpiece. There were no hearts, sparkles, roses... I spend more than $200.00 for an ordinary dinner. I was so embarrassed that I took my boyfriend to this place. I cried when I got home. There was one good thing though, the people working on the floor, hostess, bartender, and waiters, excellent people. They are not the ones to blame for this disastrous experience .

You can't beat the view. You are right on the beach! The hotel did a great renovation. I was with a group of local friends and plan to take my husband back soon.
It was a mediocre experience to say the least. The restaurants only saving grace is the spectacular view and that alone might be worth having a cup of coffee or mimosa there but skip the food. I had the avocado toast - and it was more like a light spread of guacamole that tasted like it came out of a jar and the bread was your average baguette. I also asked for a side of potatoes and they were the small bite size potatoes but looked black and gray and had absolutely no flavor at all. To top it off, it was expensive but again you're probably paying for the view!
This was our first time to this restaurant since the hotel has changed hands and become Monterey Tides. We were very impressed with the creative Spanish style cooking...even breakfast was quite gourmet and different from your average hotel restaurant (or any) breakfast around here. The views of the Monterey Bay & coastline from almost are stunning. We are looking forward to coming back again for lunch or dinner.
Awful food and awful service. Big waste of hard earned money.
We spent New Year's Eve at the Tides and this was the closest restaurant so we made reservations without knowing much about it. Such a treat!! Great food! Beautiful views.
Food was delicious but overpriced. A grilled watermelon salad with feta, watercress and balsamic was $12. I could buy many watermelons for that price.
Surprisingly good (big) portions for our Christmas dinner. We opted for the special Christmas selections instead of the standard items from the menu, and glad we did. After reading some of the reviews from their Thanksgiving dinner, we were not sure how the meal would be but it was very good overall. Both the turkey and huge prime rib plates were on point. The place seem pretty busy with only one waitress that we can see serving the diners.

We just had appetizers because we weren't so hungry (also because the dinner options seemed pretty pricey). The appetizers were fine. However, DON'T EAT HERE FOR BREAKFAST. We came back for breakfast and it was AWFUL. I couldn't even eat it. It was like breakfast at McDonald's. We told the waiter we didn't like our food and didn't eat it but he didn't take it off the bill. Our waiter was very flippant and acted like he could care less. Nice remodel and view, but because of the inconsistency with food - decent appetizers one day and McDonald's-level breakfast the next day - I give it 1 stars.
The staff was so friendly, plenty of ocean view window seating & booths. Food was so fresh!

The Thanksgiving menu items were seriously lacking in nearly every way. The soup was beyond bland - it tasted like it only contained butternut squash. There was no flavor to it like cinnamon, nutmeg, coriander, curry, cumin - nothing. The ravioli was abysmal. It tasted frozen and the sauce may have just been the butternut squash soup. The salmon was okay, but nothing I would tell a friend about. Service was a joke. Our waiter came as was just looking for the order. When my husband asked for recommendations for drinks, he got a blank stare then um’s and uh’s. When he asked if a certain drink was sweet, the waiter took it as an order, writing it down instead of answering the question. Top it all off, we ordered tea at the end, which was just standard tea bags I can buy at any grocery store, and it turns out, those were $4 cups of tea. Total bill (before tip) was $132. “Not worth it” doesn’t begin to explain the feeling. I left pretty irate that I had a holiday meal there. Just skip this place.
Went for Thanksgiving dinner. Had the Thanksgiving Dinner Special Menu. Pumpkin Soup, I believe was described as spicy, but appeared not spicy at all. Turkey was tender and juicy but served luke warm on a cold plate with tasteless gravy and cold mashed potatoes. Pumpkin pie was the highlight throughout a decent dinner. Considering the price and location I would have expected something better and more exciting than what I can cook at home. The service was kind and mostly professional but rushed and clearly they were on a tight schedule to make the table available for later seatings.

One of the best views in the Monterey Bay area. Beautiful ambiance, great menu and good service. This is real "waterfront" - "Ocean Front" dining. Located on the 4th floor of the Monterey Tides hotel, have already recommended to friends and will go back again for another try.
We enjoyed our lunch. The option of lunch or brunch was terrific. Plan on bringing my husband for dinner.
Our hotel on the 1st floor of this place was HORRIBLE. Hotel staff was great, but there were *numerous* problems with our reservation and room itself.
This restaurant completely made up for it all. The food (both dinner and breakfast) were AMAZING and worth every penny. We would highly recommend it to anyone who is traveling in the area.
This hotel is anything but a boutique hotel as advertised on the internet. It is very large and very busy with a generally noisy clientele. Location is great but overall that is about it. Three stars is generous.
Our server Armando made my mother day special. Our first time here... needless to say, the food, service and ambiance will bring me back.
We were excited to check out Vizcaino for a Mother's Day lunch. As soon as we arrived the hostess/server was snapping at another employee and the bar where you check in was super dirty! We should have left them. After waiting for them to finish their argument for about 5 minutes, we were finally seated. We were seated for 15 minutes before anyone came to take our drinks order. I had to flag down a busboy to take our beverage order. We had a great table with stunning views of the water! The food was super boring and more American than the website PR lead us to believe. They added on a item to the check but we didn't notice until we got to the car and had no desire to go back and deal with the poor service any longer. The lobby of this hotel also has the amazing views and a bar. We'll def check it out because how hard can it be to mess up a glass of wine, but will not be returning to this restaurant.

Service was almost non-existent. Didn't get water refill until 5 minutes before the bill came. Never received mimosa we ordered. Server had no personality or professional training.
Worse off, the food was subpar across the board. Eggs Benedict was slaughtered... Hollandaise was "scrambled". Eggs overcooked. Bananas "foster" french toast was merely french toast with raw bananas and pecans. Omelette had eggs overcooked and breakfast quesadilla was a pinner ham and cheese in a tortilla with ramekins of guac and sour cream.
Overall a great concept with horrible execution.
Did Sunday brunch and the were very accommodating with our large family (18). We felt special as we got the long large table that seated 12 adults while the young ones had their own table. The views of Monterey were beautiful which went nicely with our brunch. The menu had a wide variety of breakfast and lunch dishes. We shared and all were tasty! The service was great too. The kids got their dishes quick and following suit the adults did too. The prices were reasonable as well.
We were very disappointed with the food, selected for our lunch. The best part of our experience was the view and the accommodating staff.

Although only a few people were seated at their tables and 1 other party waiting, I needed to remind the hostess that I had a reservation twice before she seated us. Which I felt I needed to do being that she was being casual about attending the hostess desk with no one there, Many tables available and still not attending to us when we had a reservation at 7 pm.
After that It was a very pleasant dinner and Wonderful view of the sunset. :D
The prices were a little high....and the menu does not have a lot to choose from.
We had the steak which was grilled perfect. The sides (asparagus and mashed potatoes) were cold. Our desert the creme brûlée came also cold. The wine by the glass we would like (9$) was no longer available. So the waitress brought us two glasses red wine for 15$ each. Which was not particularly. Too expensive for that bad service.
The place is beautiful, the food is good, and our server was very nice. The place is understaffed and it took almost 30 minutes for her to come by and take our order, but once we ordered the service was prompt.
The food was very good and we enjoyed looking out at the ocean while we ate
