The seating is bistro style and offers about 50 seats outdoors and 80 seats indoors.
The ambiance is just as you would find in any Parisian brasserie with friendly and fun service.

Excellent French restaurant with great service and good prices, a hidden gem and go-to date spot. Don't miss it!
So great to be back here. Food, service and atmosphere were amazing as always. Solid go to for date night.
Lovely Valentines dinner. Excellent service. Ask for Samuel.
If our last dining experience at Café Bastille was mediocre, this time it was plain bad. We dined for lunch and ordered salad nicoise. It was bland, dry and we had barely any ingredients except for lettuce and pieces of raw tuna. I will avoid Café Bastille from now on.
Zinc bar from France, wall decorated with adverts from France, super service attentive & authentic, yes they can speak French (!!), attracts French people, located in a hideaway lane perfect for that off the beaten track meal ... I had an awesome lunch. The service outstanding because the wait staff help each other out so double coverage. Clean but that Bistro vibe is there. The owner selects his by the glass wines by taste so inexpensive but good (a nice change!) I loved it!
Great charcuterie and cheese platter.
The service was excellent and the food was very good. The atmosphere was very casual, maybe too much so...?
We dined at Bastille many times before and enjoyed our dining experience, but this time came for the NYE dinner and the food was just passable. While starters were fresh and delicious, my fish entree was nothing to rave about. The dessert was forgettable as well.
The prices were outrageous . We were 8 and everyone agreed that prices were so confused with extra charges and we noticed that other people were complaining about the same. It was New Year’s Eve and trying to understand the bill took us so long that we got to the pier 2 minutes before midnight . Bad experience
Wonderful meal. Absolutely delicious!
A hidden gem- escape SF for an authentic meal in Paris. We love this place and have now been there half a dozen times, each has always been outstanding.
Was a little too cold. Other than that, really good. Lovely service, great food, good portion sizes.
Our waiter, Samuel, was absolutely the best! He was truly engaging, attentive and fun :) Our server from Jalisco, was also constantly checking on us and completely attentive to our needs. We had a lovely time with our friends from out of town. Was perfect for us and the kids! The menu had everything thst we wouldn't mormally fibd, from rabbit to carpaccio to mussels :) Bonus: was great to be able to speak French and Spanish with them.
We love this place! Hadn’t eaten here in quite a few years and decided to revisit for a family birthday. It was as good, if not better, than it ever had been. Delicious, well-prepared and authentic French food.
Best crepes outside of Paris. We really enjoyed our lunch.
I have been coming here for years for lunch or dinner. Always good service and value and good authentic food.
Excellente table française, accueil chaleureux. Plats et vins excellents. Nous y avons dîné 2 soirs consécutifs !
An outstanding lunch!
Great staff and love being able to brunch on the patio under the heaters.
Disappointing, as I’ve enjoyed this restaurant in the past. A the restaurant was not particularly full but service was very slow, our wine was forgotten and then appetizers arrived and we had to ask about the drinks order. A very unexciting and small beet salad for a pretty high price. The mussels were tasty and I’d recommend those. Overall, a very pricey tab for a distinctly mediocre experience.
Cafe Bastille is my favorite place for dinner ... the service is exceptional, food excellent and atmosphere authentic French bistro.... always a good meal and good time!
Consistently excellent food and super pleasant, knowledgable and attentive staff
Perfect. Good food, lovely, relaxed service.
We enjoyed our wine, entrees and ambience. Dessert was undercooked (apricot tart crust) Small details were overlooked, such as waiter put dessert menu on top of food that I had dropped on our table (Rather than wiping table off first) and waiter didn’t advise specials though I heard another waiter tell other diners. Also candle on table smells; could live without it or try soy candles. Overall still enjoyed the dinner but it would help to fine tune these details.
Coq au vin delicious.
This is an excellent unpretentious French restaurant. The staff is friendly, the food is simple yet very tasty. I have not had a bad meal at Cafe Bastille in 15 years.
Service was great!!! Waiter just seem to know when to bring the next plate and very attentive to you. The beef bourguignon was good. escargots and onion soup were not what I expected for a $100 meal for one (with tip).
Delicious food and impeccable service. looking forward to our next visit.
We had the downstairs room to ourselves for a party of 15, so it was intimate and the service was exceptional. Try the rabbit!
loved it. Attentive service, some offbeat dishes, nice setting.
Closest thing to a Parisian street side dining experience . We loved our waiter, Chimay, French onion soup and pepper steak. Ended with creme brûlée and double espresso. It was a perfect choice for a casual anniversary dinner. Rolled out to Hamilton afterwards. Just a perfect time. Thank you.
Never been to Europe, but they say this place is very much like it! My husband and I loved our brunch, everything was wonderful. The onion soup, and clam chowder were wonderful, and the quiche Lorraine as good as any I ever had. We sat outside and we loved the charming little spot. I highly recommend Cafe Bastille!
We love Café Bastille for special occasions, and we had the best experience yet at our most recent visit. The prix fixe is a great deal, and this time our attentive, thoughtful, very generous server suggested that we break away from our usual favorites and try the lapin a la moutarde -- it was out of this world. Add to that a bottle of cremant and a gorgeous evening, and Café Bastille was, again, amazing.
Reunion dinner with good friend
Very quiet restaurant in a location somewhat difficult to find. WE enjoyed eating outside under the canopy especially when the overhead heat was turned on (San Francisco weather!) The fish and the quiche were good but the andouilette had unfortunately no resemblance to the real thing. I'll try something else the next time I visit.
Love the feeling of traveling to France when we only walked 5 blocks to get here! Food was tasty and waiter very friendly.
Great service and wonderful food! I couldn’t understand why it wasn’t busier!
Great place with exceptional service. Our meals were very good especially the cheese plate. Their homemade ketchup is out of this world! Mussels cooked perfectly!
My husband said the trout was delicious. The bread was also good. The service was excellent. The wine suggested was very nice. However, the vegetarian dishes were very few. We decided to stay even after I saw the menu was mainly meat because we had walked a long time to get there. There was no salad with the entree, few green vegetables. The mushroom fettuccine was bland. We were disappointed with our dinner overall when comparing it to reviews we read online. If you are an eater of rabbit, beef, and pork, as well as mussels...you might feel differently than I did.
