Mildly disappointing. I went in the early evening and only one other table was occupied, which meant that there was zero atmosphere. The staff were efficient enough but not particularly friendly and didn't smile very much. Maybe it's better at lunchtime?

The food was okay, although one of the side dishes was brought out as an appetiser and then the mains were served before the table had finished the starters. The main issue was that there were cockroaches in the restaurant and when we made the owner aware he said it was Miami and it was normal! The casual disregard for cleanliness was disconcerting to say the least and made us worried about the state of the Kitchen. The arrogance and disrespectfulness of the staff was quiet shocking. Needless to say we took desert elsewhere.

We found this while searching for a place to eat before a concert at the James L. Knight center. It's a short walk away and I love French food so we reserved our table. We were so glad we did as the food was excellent. The filet was cooked to perfection and melted in our mouth. The sides were also amazing. Just an all around great place. We live about an hour away but will be returning in the near future. I highly recommend this place.

The Host was not friendly and payed attention to cell phone. Possibly had a waiter on his first day of work without training. Date had to get parched-throat before water was provided. Waitress would not assist when asked nor when our waiter disappears. Let me stop...

The food was perfect. A gem in Downtown Miami. I took my two best friends here based on reviews and it was a homerun! My one bestie said her filet was the best she had ever eaten. (And we are total foodies!) I will be eating here every time I am in Miami.

Cafe Bastille is a terrific find in downtown Miami! We were greeted warmly by Romeo and invited to choose our seats. We were presented with the memu and invited to select our wines. We each selected our appetizers and main courses.
In the meantime a basket of fresh French bread and a spread of black olives, oline oil and anchovies was offered to tantalize our tastebuds!

We started off with appetizers of fresh Octopus salad and Bacon with a fresh green salad and goat cheese on toasted French bread. They were delicious .
The main course arrived which consisted grilled wild salmon in a Phyllo pastry on a bed of seasoned lentils which was delectation le

Excellent location and great service. We actually got so much food that we couldn't finish it. Sadly we had to leave some behind because we were flying out the next morning. We were wondering if the leftover food would go to needy persons.

When we asked for bread they argued that they serve bread at breakfast only. The ham on my sandwich tasted weird as if it was about to get bad.

Cafe Bastille is a small, downtown French bistro. It has upgraded the interior during the past year, and moved the food preparation area to another room in the back. Yet Bastille still maintains its superb food, service, and ambiance. You can actually carry on a conversation. The cuisine is fresh, reasonably priced, and well prepared. It is great for dinner or lunch. The lamb shanks, burgers, and fish are great. They serve a great salad nicoise at lunch. My only complaint was the Cote du Rhone wine by the glass was not great. I perhaps should have invested in a higher priced bottle, but only wanted a glass and there were not many others offered. I have been going to the Bastille for years, and as long as it continues to serve great food, will continue to go back and recommend it to others. A real gem! Try it out. It will not disappoint.

Pro's: Friendly Customer service, good food, best seats are outdoor.
Con's: Overpriced drinks $10 for mimosa, claustrophobic feeling eating indoors.
Overall: great for breakfast-lunch

I have come here with my family for a late lunch. The restaurant was empty, so we did receive quite some attention.
The food was not to our liking, and we did not eat it. None of us ate the food, but we were charged for it none the less. Very disappointing.

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. I questioned the chef (Elouise) about an ingredient in the sauce that came with the filet mignon and she was more than eager to explain. I did not expect this level of sophistication in this little bistro like restaurant. quite a find!

I didn't actually sample the food because I couldn't get beyond the ambiance (or lack thereof) of this place. Its on a not great street and the inside has small patio type tables with folding chairs, that looked really uncomfortable. It didn't look particularly clean but it may just be old. The tables are really crammed in to a very, very small place lining a cafeteria like space where the food is assembled. Given the description of the food from other reviewers, the place itself seemed really out of synch. I wanted a nice romantic french dinner and this just wasn't the atmosphere. Based on other reviews, I expect the food is really good. Just be aware that the surroundings may not match.

The food tasted like it was straight from France! Generous portions, and very delicious. We had a very attentive waiter and no wait for the food. The only downside was that there was a lot of traffic on the street during our meal.

Found this place on Open Table, was downtown and thought I'd give it a try. Had two appetizers as my meal - escargot and the grilled octopus. They were both equally delicious! I have never had such fresh, scrumptious octopus. amazing. I would have preferred to sit outside, but it was raining. the interior of the restaurant is small and plain. but, it's downtown and yummy so i would definitely go back. Also the service was totally friendly and on top of everything.

Looking for a casual spot in NE Miami-Dade County to enjoy familiar French fare, we chose this sidewalk cafe in downtown Miami. The night was warm and muggy; we sat inside with a view of the street and the made-to-order preparation of our selections. Requisite onion soup, escargot and moules in celebration of Bastille Day did not disappoint. Standouts for our table of three, salad accompanied by goat cheese, creme brulee with a touch of lemon, and just-right cups of expresso and cafe au lait. Wait staff and chef are attentive and engaging, creating a relaxed atmosphere for enjoying a meal with friends.

My friends and I needed a place for dinner on Bastille Day. The food here is truly excellent and since the restaurant is in Downtown, it's pretty quiet at night. The staff is flexible. We started out as just two, but two more joined us. We brought our own wine. They gave us each a glass of champagne to celebrate Bastille Day. Since it was the end of the day, there were a couple of items sold out, but we started with escargots and foie gras profiteroles. Both starters were wonderful. For dinner, the braised leg of lamb is amazing -- and a ton of food. It could easily feed 2, unusual for a French restaurant. Highly recommended.
